Stromer Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Good to know...time to start the trek home... Yeah we left Sioux falls about 15 min ago. Blowing snow but so far little sticking to road. Expecting it to get worse tho. Quote
watchmaker49 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I have been stuck in Vermillion for 15 years now No one would put up your bail? That or you need a new lawyer. Quote
watchmaker49 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Good to know...time to start the trek home... So you get to Watertown then what? Quote
dmksioux Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Hopefully roads are opened by that time. Quote
southpaw Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Right now, No travel is advised from halfway between Brookings and Watertown. If anyone happens to make it to Watertown today, please post on here. I've got friends/family planning on trying to get to Watertown today from Sioux Falls and then waiting to see how things get in the afternoon. I29 is still closed from Watertown to Fargo. Quote
choyt3 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Just remember that it isn't a race to get north, take your time. Getting home is the key. No one wants to be the first to be upside down in the median. 1 Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Looking to get to the Cities today. 94 appears closed still, anyone have reports around Fargo through Alexandria? Should I just wait til tomorrow morning? Quote

With the drifts and the wind even if they plow through the drifts the wind should blow them shut again. Tell them to enjoy another day in Sioux Falls. Quote
DASOO Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Halfway between Brookings and Watertown...roads are pretty bad still. Anyone know if any bars in watertown have any beer left? Quote

I29 is still closed from Watertown to Fargo. 10 miles north of brookings. Pretty nasty out here. Decent visability but icy and snow packed roads. 40 MPH right now. Quote

SWSiouxMN Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I-29 still closed between Watertown and Fargo. Would not be shocked if that stretch of Interstate is still closed through tomorrow (at least on the SD side of the border). There is still plenty of blowing snow across NE SD and with all those hills between Watertown and the ND/SD border and all of that snow from not only this event but from the late January snow still around that area, it can drift pretty fast and re block the roads pretty fast. Just peaking at the cameras between Watertown and ND/SD border, it looks like the plows haven't even been out yet. Quote
southpaw Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Apparently, there are at least two cars that have tried to go from Brookings to Watertown and didn't make it. Just stay in Sioux Falls or Brookings for another night. Quote
AZSIOUX Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Just saw this and Sioux Falls sounds like spring break! Haa Tweet I just saw lol Have a couple cousins stuck in summit as well, must be awful. He said they ran both kegs dry by 8pm. No good. Hope everyone gets home safe @RileyBritton: New updatde: still in Summit but we got to shower. Also were still at the bar and the ATM ran out of money. Probably here for another night. Quote

Enjoy that SD hospitality for another night. Quote
dmksioux Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I made it Watertown. Only driving 40-45 between Brookings and Watertown. Huge snow drift at the entrance to the on ramp so they don't seem to be in too much of a hurry to open the interstate. I saw the one truck in the ditch that had rolled. Quote
