You got two fixes: 1) Don't watch it on the hi-def station since it isn't broadcast in that quality. Their is a regular def channel. It is still 4:3 format instead of 16:9, which is why you get the side bars, but the actual quality seems better to me. Unless it is just a placebo effect.
