GeauxSioux Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 New Republic has a list of Offensive or Controversial Mascots. Slideshow: America’s Most Offensive or Otherwise Controversial Athletic Mascots I love the part about the Stanford band being banned from Irish games.
mikejm Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Did NR make up the part about people saying the Vikings are offensive? Or were they referring to the quality of the football team?
The Sicatoka Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Notre Dame makes their list. Florida State does not. Clearly Jesse Taken Alive needs to educate these people.
Sioux-cia Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I didin't know where to put this so here it is. All this, yet, they find time to threaten us with sanctions!! http://msn.foxsports...-penalty-072911 "If you are a big-time college football or basketball coach who is bending the rules, you'd want to know the negative outcomes if your violations are discovered. The data suggests that repercussions are relatively minor compared to the advantage you might gain from cheating."

ScottM Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 From what I have read Seminoles didn't ride horses. The horse was generally found in the western US, so plains tribes like the Comanche, Kiowa, Sioux, Cheyenne, etc. were the only ones who used them and treated them as a source of wealth. The Comanche were usually the only tribe to fight/shoot on horseback too, and often at a full gallop. 1
