homer Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 First surprise - Defensive End Alec Carrothers (Omaha, Neb./Millard West H.S.) Carrothers, same high school as Brenneman. Hopefully he has the same type of career. Quote
Jheria Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Coach has nothing to do with it. Coach can't keep kid from signing. As an alumnus of a school, if he told the kid to wait until he talked to him before signing, then he violated NCAA rules. Alumni are not allowed to talk to recruits in an attempt to influence their decision. I would not be surprised if this occured but I would like to see some evidence. Correct. Might want to make sure the coach is actually an alum of said school before letting fly with accusations. Quote
GeauxSioux Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 The NLI's are starting to roll in here: No. 5 - Defensive Back Dan Konowalski (Brookfield, Wis. (Waukesha West H.S.) No. 6 - Quarterback Ryan Bartels (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore H.S.) No. 7 - Defensive Lineman Mike Edwards (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie H.S.) Quote
UND92,96 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Konowalski, Bartels, Edwards, Mollberg and Labat are in. Quote
UND-1 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Correct. Might want to make sure the coach is actually an alum of said school before letting fly with accusations. I will take credit for that, maybe he is just a fan, my mistake. The bottom line is the kid chose NDSU, whether he changed his mind or not. May never know and it probably doesn't matter at this point. He would have been a nice ND walk-on but didn't happen. The names are coming in though - I love the live blog thing from UND! Quote
Hambone Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 You know, we had a few complaining about a PWO (who will be a very good player I believe) switch - just think about some of the big time programs. On the CNNSI blog, there are switches all over the place. Oregon nabbed two WR from Ok State and Texas A&M this morning already (3 and 4 star) and Michigan decided they wanted to swipe a four star RB from Cincinatti. Crazy. http://www.cnnsi.com...p&sct=hp_t11_a2 Quote

Crazy. http://www.cnnsi.com...p&sct=hp_t11_a2 The two WR are really close to me (geographically) and A&M people are going to be pissed off because the way this went down with Bralon Adison. Adison is the real deal, but I am not convinced Chance Allen is even that good. Quote
BigGame Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 First surprise - Defensive End Alec Carrothers (Omaha, Neb./Millard West H.S.) His highlights look very good. Quote
captsioux Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 2nd surprise Running back Kodee Varner (Baker, Mont./Baker H.S) Quote
UND-1 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 2nd surprise Running back Kodee Varner (Baker, Mont./Baker H.S) Varner reminds me of Jer Garman. Looks like a good athlete. Quote
GeauxSioux Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 2nd surprise Running back Kodee Varner (Baker, Mont./Baker H.S) Just watched part of his Youtube. He had one play where he punts the ball on what looked like a quick kick, runs downfield and tackles the guy. Kid is quick!! Quote
Hambone Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Varner reminds me of Jer Garman. Looks like a good athlete. I believe he was state champion last year in the 100 meter dash for the smaller schools. Also very good in the hurdles. Quote
homer Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Baker, MT isn't a big school but they have a football program that is very well respected in Montana. They have put out some very good football players. Hopefully Varner is another one. Quote
PhillySioux Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Per the recruit chat, Javen Butler is no longer with the football program. Quote
Hambone Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Sounds like neither Breon Butler nor Javen Butler are with the team anymore. Nor is Anya-Gafu. Quote
Hambone Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Sounds like neither Breon Butler nor Javen Butler are with the team anymore. Nor is Anya-Gafu. Actually, it appears they (Butlers) are both going to school but are currently ineligible academically if I'm understanding right. Quote
UND-1 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 That is not what they said, about the Butlers. He said they are ineligible, which can mean many things. Coach stated they are still on campus. Quote

GeauxSioux Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 No. 15 is in: Wide Receiver Kenny Golladay (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita of Cascia) Quote
UND Fan Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Also said that it is highly unlikely that they will return. It seems very odd that two CA kids are both still in school but will not play FB!!! Quote
