theisdog Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Thought this was worth sharing. The statistics he tells at the beginning are mind boggling. I had no idea. Here's to wishing him the best in his continued recovery from this injury. **EDIT-- Trying to get the link to work ** Jesse Martin speech Quote

He sounds like a very positive person who will go far in life. I hope his recovery stays on course. Quote

sioux7>5 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I watched this morning and I was very moved by it. Jesse seems like a great kid and I wish him nothing but the best in the future. Would love to see him on skates again someday. Quote
ChadR Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Great video and a very classy guy. Hope he gets to suit up again for DU Quote
tho0505 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I teared up on this. Jeez, such a class act. We'll worth the watch. 98% of people who break what he broke, die instantly! Incredible he's still alive. Quote
mikejm Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Not to be a complete a**hole here, but Jesse made a couple of sort of derisive comments about "North Dakota" that probably could've been skipped. They added nothing to his story, nor to the seemingly miraculous ending. Good luck to him as he continues to heal and rehab. Quote

A few of those comments about ND and the doctor werent necessary. Still wish him the best of luck though. Quote

Laughter is the best medicine. And it was his way of coping with it all. And beside have you any of you visited our ER for an ermgency? I have and have taken my daughter in for a side ache they told us she pulled a muscle gave her ibuprofen. She was in so much pain she couldn't breath. Come to find out she had dislocated her floating rib. Once we got it back in place she was fine. Yes its a training hospital so things happen. Kind of reminds me of a military hospital. Quote
farce poobah Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 As far as I'm concerned, he's excused for any comment about North Dakota. I only hope that I never face that kind of adversity, and that if I do, I handle it half as well as he. Quote
supersioux Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 What an unbelievable young man and a wonderful miracal. Quote

He has my vote for athlete of the year. Quote
LuvHockey Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I agree with him about the ND hospital comments, a bit of humor in a poor call by ER doc. I also took my son to Altru after a "shoulder" injury at a Youth camp by Blais/Sioux a few years ago. He separated his clavicle-sternal joint, could not move his arm, I am an MD and saw the xrays myself. The ER doc told me he fractured his clavicle (what he pointed out was the posterior rib crossing an anterior one, not a fracture). The quick and incorrect opinion really left me scared for people who need to use this facility... Jesse having the same experience in a much more serious injury really brings this back to me. Not proud moments for ND ER care.... Quote

Either way it was still a very good watch and the statistics are unbelievable. Very lucky young man. 1 Quote
