WiSioux Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 WOW! I cannot wait for next weekend when they're back in town playing against St Cloud... I will definitly be there! Quote
GeauxSioux Posted October 5, 2008 Author Posted October 5, 2008 Could this be the year that the Women's program turns the corner and becomes competitive in the WCHA? Go Sioux!!! Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 This is the first really good news to come out of the Women's Hockey program since they became a varsity program. It's early, but it looks like this program might win some games this season and get a reputation as a place where kids want to come. Quote

The speed, passing and battling for the puck in the corners was impressive. They played smart hockey. They need a little work on the penalty kill as Maine had a bit of success on the power play. All in all a very solid effort and if this play continues they should have success in the WCHA this season. Quote
dakotadan Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Game Notes: North Dakota opens WCHA action against St. Cloud State THE ALL-TIME SERIES: The Fighting Sioux trail the Huskies all-time series, 4-16-4. Last season the Sioux went 0-1-1 against SCSU and have gone 0-7-3 in their last ten meetings. The Sioux are 3-7-2 against the Huskies at home in the confines of the "Ralph". Hopefully the Sioux can begin to better their all-time series against alot of the WCHA teams this year. Getting a few points from SCSU would be a good way to start the WCHA season. Quote
fightingsiouxfan57 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Congrats to the team on their 1st WCHA win of the 08-09 season!! Let's follow up with a big effort tomorrow! Good game Moe! Quote

UND85 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 I watched the game on the internet and it looks like a much improved team from a year ago. The new players they added will certainly help. Nice job ladies and go after the sweep tonight! Quote
dakotadan Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 The ladies were up 2-0 until SCSU scored a short handed goal with 3.7 seconds left in the first. UND will start the 2nd with ~1:30 power play. SCSU 1 UND 2 End of 1st. Quote
dakotadan Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 SCSU 2 UND 3 Final!!! Nice sweep for the ladies. Great way to start the WCHA season. Quote
SiouxMD Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 SCSU 2 UND 3 Final!!! Nice sweep for the ladies. Great way to start the WCHA season. Strong work by the ladies and Coach Idalski! Quote
siouxforeverbaby Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 The ladies looked great! They should have a good season if they keep working the way that they have been. Great Job to them and Coach Idalski. Quote
Siouxmama Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 I guess the theme for this weekends hockey is "Sweep, or be swept". Nice job by the Sioux women. Quote
Riverman Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 It seemed that SCSU couldn't skate with UND. Anyone else notice the Huskies were falling into the Sioux players. It almost seemed like it was coached. Any ways two good wins on the weekend. I look forward to watching them next Friday!! Quote

I look forward to watching them next Friday!! they were falling into us! and they kept doing things that were called cross-checking or etc....when UND did them. The funniest thing was the look on their coaches face towards the end of the third when the look on his face said..."please just don't talk to me and let this game end now" Quote
Siouxmama Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 This week in the WCHA, Womens hockey: Offensive player of the week - Kala Buganski, MSU-Mankato Defensive player of the week - Brittany Kirkham, UND Rookie of the week - Monique Lamoureux, UM Quote
dakotadan Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Minnesota State 1 North Dakota 0 End of 1. Quote

dakotadan Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 I hope UND files a formal complaint to the WCHA about the reffing in OT. Refs chose not to call some very obvious penalties on MSU. Elbow to the face mask and an obvious tackle on a break away. MSU 2 UND 2 End of OT. GOING TO A SHOOT-OUT!!! Quote
dakotadan Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 MSU wins it in 5 rounds of the shoot-out. Quote
sioux rube Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 So do the SIOUX still get a point and the mavs get 2? Quote
spfreak Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 That was the best I have seen the Sioux play, ever. One question though. Do the Sioux get a point because of losing in a shootout? I thought I remembered that that was the rule that they would use but wanted to make sure. Quote
