  1. Good to see the team get a goal on the 5-3. Hard to believe though that we could only muster 6 shots on goal. That must be close to a record for least SOG for a game for the Sioux. Brian must be looking forward to the twins next season.
  2. 2 games left to go and the Sioux could finish 6th if MSU sweeps the Buckeyes. The Sioux need to take it hard to UMD and get some points this weekend to control their playoff destiny. Last set of home games for the seniors. I hope lots of fans turn out to cheer them on.
  3. An excellent effort. The webcast was much better than it has been in the past. Closeups, views of the bench, replays. Do not know what has changed but good job! Big weekend coming up against Ohio State. Hope lots of fans come out to the games to cheer on the Sioux.
  4. Congrats to the team on their 1st WCHA win of the 08-09 season!! Let's follow up with a big effort tomorrow! Good game Moe!
  5. It is early, but they dominated Maine 5 on 5. The speed, passing and battling for the puck in the corners was impressive. They played smart hockey. They need a little work on the penalty kill as Maine had a bit of success on the power play. All in all a very solid effort and if this play continues they should have success in the WCHA this season.
  6. Impressive play by the team, hoping they come out on the right side of the scoreboard today.
  7. Article in Grand Forks Herald http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/i...;section=sports Took in the teams practice last night in Orono, Maine. Looking forward to seeing them in action against the Black Bears.
  8. Roster is posted, lots of new faces. Anyone seen the team on the ice to see how they are shaping up? The puck drops Sat. to start a fresh season. All the best to the fighting Sioux team and their coach's. Here's to a successful season!!
  9. Will be a lot of new faces on the team for the 2008-2009 season. Brian/Grant/Maria have recruited heavily to put their stamp on the team. Will be very interesting to see the on ice results. Wonder if the team will finish ahead of MSU/Bemidji/Ohio/St. Cloud in the standings.
  10. Unfortunately with 6-8 new recruits coming in not everyone wil be back. There was an article a while back in the GFH about the girls playing for a spot on next years team. The girls worked hard and provided us with some very entertaining hockey. Good luck to everyone in the off season.
  11. 3-0 after 2 periods shots are 38-8 3-1 final. Shots 43-15 Sioux actually outplayed and outscored Minnesota in the 3rd. Holland scored on a scramble in front of the net after Ashley Lynch made a nice move past a defender and put a shot on goal from the slot.
  12. Minnesota 1, UND 0 -- end of 1 shots are 22 - 1
  13. Congrats to Ashley!! http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.d...;ATCLID=1399054

  18. Sioux win 1-0 on a goal by Motsko. Kirkham made 26 saves for her 4th shutout on the season. This was her 50th consecutive start in goal which has to be some kind of school record. Lamoureux has the men's record with 46 and counting.
  19. Hopefully a better result today. Shots were 31-30 for the Sioux although the Beavers outshot the Sioux 14-5 in the 1st for a 1 goal lead. Last goal was an empty netter. Brookshaw is a premier goalie in NCAA hockey and we need to put one past her first to gain the upper hand.
  20. Idalski looking for more. http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/index.cfm?id=63351
  21. Ohio State up 4-1 after 2. Shots are 38-12 for the Buckeyes. Sauer took over from Kirkham late in the 2nd after the 4th goal. UND rebounded with a goal after that.
  22. I was impressed with the teams play today against the Badgers. 3-2 loss and shots 40-14 but we had 2 breakaways and the girls had a couple of tips in front of Vetter that came close. We scored 2 by crashing the net and banging home rebounds. I like the way the coaching staff have the girls playing as a team. I see a lot less mental errors on the ice this year and their transition game is much better. I know Brian would say a loss is a loss but this team is a work in progress and there definitely is improvement. Good luck today ladies!!
  23. Yeah, why do we always get the top teams after they have been swept the weekend before??? UMD gets swept by Minnesota,Miller puts it to them for a week and they come out gunning. Wisconsin gets swept by UMD and I am sure Johnson will have them going warp speed this weekend. Sioux need to match that intensity or it could be a long weekend!
