  1. Was there a penalty for Levinavage there at the end?
  2. Were we on a change or where was our other D-man on that goal?
  3. Hard to disagree and truth be told I am a Tommy guy. There are several games we lose without him.
  4. I think a reality we need to embrace is nobody really knows what we have at QB including the coaches till the bullets start flying next fall. If either Trey or Jerry were better than Tommy in the coaches eyes, I’d think they would have played. The bigger question I have is do the quarterbacks we have fit Danny’s system. I assume that’s why they were recruited. But Am I crazy to think that a more mobile QB like Romfro fits the system better and somehow sneaks through in the coming year or two? Because this offense doesn’t really push the ball down field. it should, but it doesn’t seem to, and I don’t know if that was a byproduct of Danny, or of Tommy. If it’s the offense, then what’s keeping a guy like Romo from competing? And let me say I’m not advocating for this kid, but I have a little PTSD from that QB from last week who ran all over us and athletically reminded me of Romfro.
  5. I agree on him being our best but he is listed at 6’3” 245lbs. That is extremely light for a D End. Again he made up for it. 245 is the size our LB’s should be..
  6. I think Ben was among the best transfers we brought in. I feel he is a bit undersized for a DE but made up for it often times with motor. That being said progression is required in the trenches and guys that are 25 to 30lbs heavier but just as athletic as he is, is what we are looking for. 275 to 280. I hope Ben lands on his feet.
  7. I agree. Was very underutilized I think. But with some of the underclassman coming up, probably seeing that his role doesn’t increase…
  8. I agree with the sentiment of an open QB competition regardless. We are set at RB and I like overall the steps our O-line has taken. We need to figure out how to use our offensive specialists better. Red Wilson was a weapon we underutilized. If he comes back and we have that Tai kid coming to either take his spot or have both, we need to get the ball in their hands. I agree with the comments about the Klein kid but he and the rest of our WR’s minus Bo need to step up. Doesn’t matter who the QB is if you can’t get separation. Defensively we are just not getting enough pressure. We truly haven’t had any dominant outside linebackers since we had Jackson Turner and Ray Haas. And in those days, we had Noah Larson at 240 to 250 pounds in the middle who could run and thump people. So you had one bigger guy, and the other guy was more like our current guys are at about 230 to 235 pounds. So defensively, we have a lot of work to do from a development and recruiting side. I feel like we need to maintain our size at the nose tackle position, try to find another griffin to put into the rotation. Get bigger at MLB. Our DE should be around 280 pounds. A guy like McNabo should be an outside linebacker at his size. He just maybe doesn’t have the feet to be able to do that. Overall I felt our safeties and D-backs were OK but I think any major weaknesses was more of a byproduct of our lack of pressure and needing to bring extra people all the time to get pressure leaving them vulnerable.
  9. Time to get Bo involved. Open up some running lanes..
  10. Defense did alright but some costly untimely undisciplined penalties cost us big time. Why we let single players kill us is tough. We just didn’t seem to adjust. 82 just killed us today, That being said, 14 points as a result of just flat out hustle and grit kept this game close. We needed our offensive guys to play big, they didn’t. Tommy, Beau, Wesley, Gavin and Isiah didn’t play big enough. It was on a platter for us and we slipped on the turf.
  11. I feel like we have been down on the linebacker side especially the outside linebackers the past 2yrs. The 3-4 can be crazy good. The key to this defense is the 3 down lineman especially the NG. He is the tip of the spear who determines the flow. Their job is to force as many double teams as possible and occupy lineman to keep your playmaking linebackers, clean to make whatever plays they need to make. Problem is we’ve been undersized on the line, and a little under athletic at the linebacker position since Turner. Pedigo has been the only linebacker that really is getting home for us. Mullin has made a few big plays, and Buckner flashes once in a while. But consistency is a problem. I feel like we have addressed the line. But we’re still looking for those outside backers to show up.
  12. Mankato is pretty good. Tough for us to sustain any O-zone and that is as much on the as us. That being said, we need to skate. Feels like they are out skating us.
  13. We need a shot in the arm offensively. This is crazy..
  14. Minnesota is for real. Close is as good as advertised and their speed is ridiculous! That being said, I am sure that’s the same thing they are thinking about us. And I think we’ll only get better! Great atmosphere great win! Loved the salute. Everyone stayed and expected it…
  15. It’s just so much more disappointing when you feel like you’re finally in the Jet stream. Thinking the lines have figured themselves out, how to be bullies, we tackled like men. Gap sound, disciplined. And today our trenches got blown up. So I guess we see how we respond now..
  16. Brayden Bryant to the portal.
  17. Was just telling my teenage kids the exact story yesterday as well, showed them the Holy Cross win on YouTube yesterday waiting for the hockey game. But the fun of the game, the energy you felt, it was so electric inside of the Alerus that, the only other time I felt that was at that Western regional here in Grand Forks. Feel lucky to be at both of them. I don’t think the Ralph has ever been louder than that moment. The electricity inside the building was so hard to replicate. Jonathan Toews, TJ Oshie, Duncan and Company, Michigan didn’t stand a chance….
  18. Best we have looked this year by far. Won the trenches, kept them off balance and we didn’t turn the ball over!
  19. Stay off mothers, I would have said I just got off yours but the troll had herpes!
  20. Lots of QB hate here but this guy will be the all time leader in pretty much everything, stat wise, when he is done. It’s been a long time since we’ve had this kind of stability back there. We should feel very lucky. because we have no idea what we got behind him. A lot of hope. This is Tommies team. If there was another quarterback on the roster better than the one who has been starting, Who gave us a better chance to win, they would start. If Tommy lays a complete dud this weekend, maybe you think about pulling the trigger on someone else. But it would have to be a complete meltdown. Considering he finishes the year, If Tommy comes back, and isn’t any better than he has been showing in the big games, you got a think it’ll be an open competition between at least the top three guys. Or they tell Tommy that he should transfer, grad transfer, or go somewhere else and hand the keys to Trey. I am optimistic that we can make this a game on Saturday. It used to be we would need several things to go our way to win this game. If our defense plays the way, it did against Boise, we have a legitimate shot. If it was the Defense that played South Dakota State, we are in big trouble. They will once again, drop the plow, and go to town. We have to stop the run and run the ball. This means this game is not going to be won by Tommy, but by the offensive & defensive lines.
  21. I am optimistic about the D but literally can’t take anything from this one to know. They never really threatened us and that is very hard on D-core and the goalies. Some of those breakdowns could just be due to apathy due to boredom. But they all looked the part. Moved and skated well. Didn’t seem out of place. Next weekend will be more telling. Our offense could be very special…
  22. Bison Goalie trying to earn a scholarship with UND?
  23. Love the passion. 1. There are over 120 FCS football teams, we have been in the top 20 most of the last five years. I’m not a math major but I am guessing there are a lot of programs that would love to trade their records and progress with ours. 2. Tommy Schuster is a great FCS quarterback. He is at a FCS level for a reason. He was playing an FBS athletic defense. He was trying to play up and press and make plays. He doesn’t have an FBS line, or FBS receiving core, or an FBS offensive coordinator. And when you try to press, mistakes are made. That’s what happened to Borude , and that’s what happened to Tommy, and yes, even Fruend. If Feeney was ready he would be in there. If Jerry was ready, he would be in there. They are not. Tommy is our best hope this year to make further strides. We may not be ready to win it this year. But the deeper we get the better our recruiting gets the closer to our goal. 3. We are building our reputation. We don’t have NDSU’s long-standing reputation of excellence. We don’t have SDSU’s facilities, and now reputation for success. (if you wanna see what I mean, go to the game in Brookings in a couple weeks and you’ll understand why, Coughlin Stadium and the S-Jack, their indoor practice facility, are impressive and have been fully funded and completed for 10 years). Danny is developing a reputation as a really good FCS offensive coordinator, where kids want to come here and play. Schwezfier has the defense swarming. They are building something there. 4. Patience everyone. Stay the course. When we were playing, well, I liked what I saw. And what I saw showed we could play with anyone at our level. That’s fun. I actually feel like we have a chance of winning these SU games. Not hoping, but thinking we can actually do it. That’s growth.
  24. Great to see S making some plays! I really hate the fact that they don’t have any stats on the scoreboard
