While we are winning, you cannot make a change. Because if the next guy fails, you’re not only destroy his confidence, the team’s confidence, but Simon‘s confidence as well. You can’t just go back to him. And we really are up !@#$ Creek. If on the other hand, we start to fail, then you can make a change and the whole team will understand why.

OC picks the quarterback and tells the coach the way he and the other coaches think it should be. Coach takes in that info and combines it with his own observations and intuition and makes a call. Simon earned all their trust. You impatient jackals calling for Simon’s head are crazy. We are ranked in the top 10 right now with him as our quarterback. I actually find it good that we have room to grow at that position. We have a developing offensive line in pass protection. We have a quarterback, who is coming off of several years of not playing. He just needs a little more time to marinate. Just relax everyone. This feels like the deepest team we’ve ever had.

Tommy didn’t start his first game against a Big 12 team, a good one at that. Give the team a little bit of a break guys. You’ll save yourself an ulcer. It’s a brand new offensive line. It’s a brand new offensive coordinator. It’s the quarterbacks first career start, and we knew, their receivers were special coming in and the quarterback was the big 12 offensive freshman of the year. So the fact that they’re able to work us a little bit out there, shouldn’t be a surprise. This is also the first game starting for our safeties. They have 22 more scholarships than we do. They should be beating the crap out of us. Now, why we take a time out into halftime, I have no idea about that one.

Running game looks alright so far.

Play action over the top to Caden Dennis…

Just really curious what Simon has and if we can generate pressure against them. Curious about the young line. No matter the score if we see something good against a team like this, that is a win.
-
Well thank god ya did that cause I think people were worried. Noted. UND aviation 1, SDSU aviation 0…
-
You missed the point. Education to him is secondary. It had enough of what he was looking for. Regardless of how good it is it’s still offered what he was looking for. And it offered his number one and number two majors, winning football, professional development…

UND has been on him. They know him, they wanted him, but they also like the guys they have. We have a lot of young online, coming up right now and we can’t use all our money on online. UND lost the 2 coaches that JB knew, Oline coach, and Danny who was a personal acquaintance. Also remember that most, not all, but most want to leave home. SDSU has money, more than us, great facilities and a strong fan base, and just happens to be the national champ. Do you really, really think we “lost” him? He gets paid, gets to be mentored by a family friend, play in front of 16 to 18,000 people and play for a team that has been now churning out NFL lineman. And is close enough but far enough away straight down I29? And yes they have a very good aviation and engineering program. Doubtful it was a very hard choice.

I don’t think Danny is or was going to be “the guy”. He thought they all would be fired after one more average season and didn’t have the belief that they would be able to deliver a better season. I liked Danny personally thought he was a nice man. And although I understand the opportunity, abandoning the kids you recruited to coach a division rival is a s$!tty thing to do. Bubba got extended for 3 reasons. He had a playoff run, he beat NDSU, and the new OC. Mostly the third. They want to see what they have there. Remember this, the games we lost were as much about downright poor or lackluster offense as defense and that is Danny. UNI for instance. Let’s see what kind of juice the new OC can bring.

He is the perfect size for OLB if he stays there size wise and can run.

They are good. They clogged the middle and obviously watched the Omaha games a few times cause that 3rd period gave me Omaha flashbacks. No open ice, clogging up the middle, beat us to every puck, played our game back at us and we can’t / didn’t handle it well.
-
Feel like we are too soft. Nobody on offense showed up but Johannes, Gabe’s, 1.5 periods, Blake, wish we had Johannes another year. Kunz a little at the end. Nothing from Anyone else. We are not hungry enough. In general, I thought most of our d-men played ok. Person unfortunately will be hating himself for his skate own goal but thought that was his best game of the year. Our young D held up pretty well considering. We need to find somebody who can win a face off. Is Berry on the hot seat?
-
Too bad if true but can’t really blame him..
-
I am worried about her. She was not making a very good impression at the Summit game from a spectator perspective. She really needs to figure her world out fast cause this kind of dramatic fall can be detrimental to a program for years..
-
I think BJ is a great talent. But he got worked hard by Fidler. I think another year of development would be great for him...
-
Is Tyree done? Anyone know his eligibility status? Just don’t remember. Lose Tsotne, Brady, Tyree? Cupboard not bare if you get BJ back. With Treysen, Amar, Eli….
-
Feels like they have more to play for and they do.
-
Anyone heard any news?? Crickets coming out of Football?
-
Any updates on Spring Ball?
-
So, are there any stories or interviews about Duncan anywhere??
-
100% correct. Nose Tackle is the tip of the spear. The more offensive lineman the 3 down lineman occupy, the more plays the linebackers make!

This might date me but I remember well when Matt Frattin was a younger player like DJ and I see some parallels between their trajectories. Obviously this was prior to Frattin getting kicked off the team. Frattin was creating a ton of opportunities for himself, he was faster to the puck than most and the more his confidence grew the more opportunities there were. He just couldn’t put the puck in the net consistently. He missed more open nets, and hit more posts than anyone. In our little Monday morning quarterback, discussion group back then, we talked about how close he was and if he could just start hitting some of those corners and slowed the game down one more millisecond and started potting some of those misses, oh boy what would he become. I’m very excited about DJ. Because I think he could be better. He has intangibles that could make him very special. Maybe not today, but fingers crossed. -

As fun an atmosphere as we’ve had in a while! The energy was high in the building. Seemed like the players felt it too. Fun game! -
