We have some key recruits and some key people we do not want to lose. I see the OC as an interim an endorsement of him keeping his job and getting an upgrade at DC since Schwenzie was the more tenured coach regardless of who is hired. It shows me also they are hopefully looking for a defensive minded coaching staff as the current staff’s defense was just not good enough. I like proven culture guys. The SDSU / NDSU people in the chat here are all on my list. We talk culture here, those places live it. We need people that know it & bring that here up to and including recruiting. I heard that the visit experience at UND is exactly where we stand in regards to current standings with other DKota schools. 4th best at best. This direct from a recruit parent who had a kid make visits to several. Positives here were the facilities and school was nice. The biggest negative was the amount of care by the staff to the visitors. Involvement, or lack there of, by coaches. They felt more wanted and they had more activities and the programs just seemed more organized and next level. We want to win, we need to win there first.

We got out worked, out hustled. Look like we ate too much turkey and still half asleep. O’Mac, Jadon, Kunz, I think were still sleeping. That 5 min was a terrible penalty to take. Jake Liv’s penalty was a terrible penalty. We look so un-disciplined and that is a coaching issue. We need our upper classman to step up. We need to stop talking about our culture and start showing it!

These are not the OC’s QB’s. This is a RPO offense. Romfo showed the best control in the offense early. . Jerry is young. He will get the opportunity to beat Simon out. This year the OC can recruit his guys both through the portal and new coming in. Actually he has his QB coming in as a true freshman. I agree on the Moorhead connection. Mixed bag. We need defense. Defense at all levels. Front 7 mostly we need guys to develop and hit some in the portal. Control the line of scrimmage and get to the QB.

We are doing it to ourselves. TJ needs to aggressively cover there. Also seemed slow getting to the post on the 2nd goal, Stupid penalties are killing us. We are definitely missing Zmolek. Dane is doing his best but.Our defense is not where we need it right now.

I was personally excited for Trey. However, you gotta win the job. There is competition, that’s great. That’s what we want, best man wins, not best potential wins.

Offensively I think Simon has to have his best game. Need Sawyer to make big plays both on kick offs to shorten the field and some long runs. And just get a meat and potatoes day out of our other two running backs. They do and we control the time of possession. Would also be a good time to see our tight ends get more involved in the offense. It seems like they were trying a little bit more last week. Lastly need to see Caden Dennis or Nate D get loose after Bo opens some space for them as a decoy to run under one. How about a Kory Tai, don’t know how to spell his name, package for this game. Defensively we need to stay disciplined. We need to tackle in space. We cannot allow Cam Miller to take the game over with his legs. Stopping them will be difficult at home. But if we can hold them to some field goals that keeps us in the game, waiting for those opportunities to make a big play either with a turnover or two or with a special teams play. We need a big day out of our defense line. If they help control the line of scrimmage, we have a legit shot. I think it’s gonna be a tall task to win in Fargo, but I feel better about this team doing it than any other since they’ve gone division one.

While we are winning, you cannot make a change. Because if the next guy fails, you’re not only destroy his confidence, the team’s confidence, but Simon‘s confidence as well. You can’t just go back to him. And we really are up !@#$ Creek. If on the other hand, we start to fail, then you can make a change and the whole team will understand why.

OC picks the quarterback and tells the coach the way he and the other coaches think it should be. Coach takes in that info and combines it with his own observations and intuition and makes a call. Simon earned all their trust. You impatient jackals calling for Simon’s head are crazy. We are ranked in the top 10 right now with him as our quarterback. I actually find it good that we have room to grow at that position. We have a developing offensive line in pass protection. We have a quarterback, who is coming off of several years of not playing. He just needs a little more time to marinate. Just relax everyone. This feels like the deepest team we’ve ever had.

Tommy didn’t start his first game against a Big 12 team, a good one at that. Give the team a little bit of a break guys. You’ll save yourself an ulcer. It’s a brand new offensive line. It’s a brand new offensive coordinator. It’s the quarterbacks first career start, and we knew, their receivers were special coming in and the quarterback was the big 12 offensive freshman of the year. So the fact that they’re able to work us a little bit out there, shouldn’t be a surprise. This is also the first game starting for our safeties. They have 22 more scholarships than we do. They should be beating the crap out of us. Now, why we take a time out into halftime, I have no idea about that one.

You missed the point. Education to him is secondary. It had enough of what he was looking for. Regardless of how good it is it’s still offered what he was looking for. And it offered his number one and number two majors, winning football, professional development…

UND has been on him. They know him, they wanted him, but they also like the guys they have. We have a lot of young online, coming up right now and we can’t use all our money on online. UND lost the 2 coaches that JB knew, Oline coach, and Danny who was a personal acquaintance. Also remember that most, not all, but most want to leave home. SDSU has money, more than us, great facilities and a strong fan base, and just happens to be the national champ. Do you really, really think we “lost” him? He gets paid, gets to be mentored by a family friend, play in front of 16 to 18,000 people and play for a team that has been now churning out NFL lineman. And is close enough but far enough away straight down I29? And yes they have a very good aviation and engineering program. Doubtful it was a very hard choice.

I don’t think Danny is or was going to be “the guy”. He thought they all would be fired after one more average season and didn’t have the belief that they would be able to deliver a better season. I liked Danny personally thought he was a nice man. And although I understand the opportunity, abandoning the kids you recruited to coach a division rival is a s$!tty thing to do. Bubba got extended for 3 reasons. He had a playoff run, he beat NDSU, and the new OC. Mostly the third. They want to see what they have there. Remember this, the games we lost were as much about downright poor or lackluster offense as defense and that is Danny. UNI for instance. Let’s see what kind of juice the new OC can bring.

He is the perfect size for OLB if he stays there size wise and can run.
