I am optimistic about the D but literally can’t take anything from this one to know. They never really threatened us and that is very hard on D-core and the goalies. Some of those breakdowns could just be due to apathy due to boredom. But they all looked the part. Moved and skated well. Didn’t seem out of place. Next weekend will be more telling. Our offense could be very special…

Bison Goalie trying to earn a scholarship with UND?

Love the passion. 1. There are over 120 FCS football teams, we have been in the top 20 most of the last five years. I’m not a math major but I am guessing there are a lot of programs that would love to trade their records and progress with ours. 2. Tommy Schuster is a great FCS quarterback. He is at a FCS level for a reason. He was playing an FBS athletic defense. He was trying to play up and press and make plays. He doesn’t have an FBS line, or FBS receiving core, or an FBS offensive coordinator. And when you try to press, mistakes are made. That’s what happened to Borude , and that’s what happened to Tommy, and yes, even Fruend. If Feeney was ready he would be in there. If Jerry was ready, he would be in there. They are not. Tommy is our best hope this year to make further strides. We may not be ready to win it this year. But the deeper we get the better our recruiting gets the closer to our goal. 3. We are building our reputation. We don’t have NDSU’s long-standing reputation of excellence. We don’t have SDSU’s facilities, and now reputation for success. (if you wanna see what I mean, go to the game in Brookings in a couple weeks and you’ll understand why, Coughlin Stadium and the S-Jack, their indoor practice facility, are impressive and have been fully funded and completed for 10 years). Danny is developing a reputation as a really good FCS offensive coordinator, where kids want to come here and play. Schwezfier has the defense swarming. They are building something there. 4. Patience everyone. Stay the course. When we were playing, well, I liked what I saw. And what I saw showed we could play with anyone at our level. That’s fun. I actually feel like we have a chance of winning these SU games. Not hoping, but thinking we can actually do it. That’s growth.

Great to see S making some plays! I really hate the fact that they don’t have any stats on the scoreboard

We are starting to see more lineman with size and that’s great. We need to win in the trenches and I feel like we are making strides on both sides. It’s fun to be getting lineman with offers from Iowa State and Yale for instance.

Where is the follow on this guy? Anyone have any info??

Wow, crazy, so many memories, so many laws broken, so many laughs. Grew up a lot in the few years I was there. Some of my best friends 30 years later I had met in that building, wouldn't trade those memories for the world!! RIP Legend!!

I like Kraft. Local kid hard worker. Sneaky good! Would take it happily. Would love an athletic 6’9 (5) to protect the rim though!

Be a big……, Be a big……, Be a big……

Don’t think we are deep enough to lose ILB to the Portal?? Fertel to the portal!
-
Richard A. also in. So am I wrong to assume the DB room is fairly deep which is why we have seen 2 drop?
-
Here comes the Portal run.

OK, what in the name of all that is holy is going on with our former D-Coordinator becoming a DB coach for Saint Thomas????

Where is this streaming? -
31-35 SDSU at the half. Rebounding, fouls big story why UND trails. SDSU doing a good job keeping Kacie B in check.

Have always been a Berry guy. Still am. But this is the worst defensive execution team we have ever had. They are kids, so I truly hate to single out kids. They don’t wanna play this way. They don’t want to lose. They don’t wanna disappoint us. I really liked our game tonight on offense in many ways to be truthful. A lot of grit was showing on offense tonight. This is the worst defensive team, I’m not just talking defenseman, the worst defensive team we’ve had in the new Ralph era in my opinion. I believe (7), (15), (2) (3) have been accountable and consistent. But not great. Sidorski has been a great find. Too bad we didn’t have him another year. (25) can be great when he chooses to be. Too bad that’s not consistent enough right now. Some of our guys need to realize you can’t take the kinds of penalties we take. Either the severity of the penalty, like last night, or the timing like tonight. The rest have been very up-and-down. And most of them have been down more than up. I don’t envy the task. It’s hard. But we’re a team that very badly needs to find out its identity right now. We’re team without a true goalie. And that’s a scary thought. Back to Basics!!

Must be a busy host weekend? Saw a few recruits in town tonight!
-
Two points in 2 shifts…
-
Why the h$ll are they not starting Strinden for gods sake.one of our best players last night and you didn’t see him out there till he scored. Let’s go coaches, get it together!!
-
Stig’s been there 30, you tell me and they’ve been relevant only 5 yrs….
-
Hard to be patient with coaches but with time they too get better. Stig at SDSU has been there forever. When he was the coach during the D2 era UND owned them. They stuck with him. When they transitioned I was at a game, family are alums, I am very not, where they lost huge to a Div3 college out of Wisconsin. People were calling for his job. The School didn’t panic. They see he’s a good guy, good for the community, allowed him to learn the game and the recruiting it takes to win at this level in this division cause it’s quite a jump. And now they are challenging yearly for a championship. Bubba and staff are getting better. They have a relevant team in the most difficult division in FCS football. And they are doing it with a room full of kids who are not three stars or even very many two stars for that matter. They have to develop everything. There is room to grow sure, but I think we are slowly seeing them learn. And we are getting closer and closer each year to being able to challenge those last couple teams. As hard as it is in a want it now era, we can’t allow our pride to get in the way of progress.

Oh I agree. I think we may have some opportunity in February or after Spring ball to find a portal guy or two...
-
Great podcast per usual and felt they were right on with their assessment, which is the same as most of us have felt for a long time. That being said I think they attacked the portal and this signing class pretty well so far. Really like the fact that we hit the lines really hard. And I don't remember having this amount of bigs on both lines coming in. We get a 245lb middle backer that can run and and and a head-hunting strong safety and we will be in business on Defense. Offense did a great job building depth. Like the trajectory...

The portal can be great if it's the right kid, like Hoos. We need to strengthen the middle of the def. Our corners will look a whole lot better if we get more pressure on the QB. They have too much time. We are just not getting home from our OLB position like we are used to seeing. To me, a guy like Mcnabo should be an OLB, not a DE. Those are the types of guys we need on the OLB. I think he is getting bigger for D-line and he's had a very good season, but he could have stayed at 240-250, played OLB and be a beast. Our best defensive players in this type of defense need to be, NG, MLB, OLB, SS.
