The Dickinson plant failed because it could not compete with the lower price producers once the increased demand for diesel ceased in ND. Without the oil boom there was no need for more fuel in ND with all the other suppliers. Tesoro bought the it and it could not make any profit so now they are retrofitting it to process vegetable oils into biofuels. The demand in CA for biofuels is skyrocketing due to new regulation requirements. Sounds like little modifications will be need to get the plant ready to process veg oils. Once again you don’t know what you are talking about just like these big sky to FBS threads. I’d quit while your ahead.

I agree too but it just needs to make economical sense or we will not see the investment. The urea fertilizer plant idea was genius except there is only room in the state for one or maybe 2 of them. New refineries in the state will be a bust just like the MDU funded one by Dickinson. It takes solid economics to make these opportunities a long lasting endeavor.

So you are telling me it’s cheaper to ship finished product via rail and ship to Asia than it is to ship the ethane via pipeline to existing petrochemical hubs in the USA and Canada. There is a reason this ethane cracker hasn’t been built in ND. While we all would like to see this plant built in ND this is far from reality and the state will not and should not spend billions to fund this project. new refineries do not make sense in ND because there is no incremental demand anymore for more fuels. A new fertilizer plant in ND make sense because of abundant and cheap natural gas with the final product being in need within the immediate region. There is not enough plastic demand close enough to ND to make this ethane plant feasible. If it was such a great idea it would already be funded and built.

How are any of my statements baloney? No one is denying that ethane crackers are being built across the country, but we are a ways away from building one in ND. If building an ethane cracker in ND was that great of an idea we would have a major petrochemical corporation proposing one instead of one random man. It’s easy to tie down the feed stocks it would take to feed the plant, but the biggest hurdle is securing the billions it will take to build this. I compare this ethane plant to the fertilizer plant in ND. They have everything lined up except for the cash to get it built. Anyone can propose anything but until you have the money nothing will ever get built. I work in the oil industry. You say your profession designs these plants. Do you mean you design them? It makes no sense to have this plant here when we have no other petrochemical plants around here.

How are you far more competent than anyone else on here? That’s a pretty arrogant statement. No one is arguing that ethane is not valuable and won’t be separated from the natural gas. Ethane will not boom the Williston region like you are predicting. It will be shipped out on pipelines such as the Alliance and Oneok pipelines.

Minot is run by a bunch of idiots. Hell the last mayor was a former strip club owner that ran unopposed and now has a mayor that thinks he is god gift to the spotlight and loves to hear himself talk. Minot has an engineering department that has royally messed up on big projects over and over and has allowed the city to be over built with tons of empty new subdivisions. The head engineer should have been canned long ago. Taxes increase like a sieve with no end in sight. It’s not a great time to be a resident of Minot right now.

I don’t know what kind attraction grand forks can build to really boost tourism other than UNDgetting bigger. Most people would never go to grand forks if it wasn’t for events being held at the Ralph or the Alerus Center.

Agree 100% , Minot will not become what it was during the last boom. Oil companies want to be closer to the action and watford city and Williston are now more positioned for the growth.

Williston will never be that big. Never. We may see a ethane plant in ND one day but nothing will make Williston grow to anymore than a Fargo size. lets keep these outrageous conspiracy theories in the UND to FBS thread.....

No way Dickinson, Williston, or Jamestown will allow themselves to be dropped to the second highest level. It doesn’t matter if those teams have never been competitive they won’t be happy.

Not until all junior gold towns decide to sponsor it at the high schools. It should stay one league otherwise there isn’t enough teams to make it make sense.

So are you saying this kid is lying that a staff member gave them to him? Why would a well known NDSU alum drag her alma mater through the mud like this if it wasn’t true.

There is no benefit for the kid to lie at this point. He is taking a big risk to lose many close friends on the team by coming out with this. The only reason to come out is because he feels he was wronged and that it wasn’t his fault. I would want to tell the truth too if it wasn’t my fault. NDSU staff screwed the kid out of his football career and takes zero fault. Now that’s an institution I want to be a part of!

Wyoming just added a 3 star qb recruit from Texas so I this kid wants a better chance at playing he better come north. Not as close to home for him but he can always fly frontier from Fargo to Denver.
