  1. Never mind. Question answered.
  2. Do we not trust Bartels to throw? 3rd & goal from the 8 and we call a draw?
  3. He did get in for the last three plays of the SUU game - and had an assist with Arnell on his first play. Good to see him on the field!
  4. I'd have to agree. The safe and predictable play call there is to run Brady up the middle. If the swing pass is complete people would be saying, "Wow - good (but gutsy!) call!." I know I haven't watched as much or as long as some of you hardcore UND supporters, but I think Rudolph did a great job of spreading the ball around, both on the ground and through the air. Six different guys got carries (no Santiago), and 6 different receivers caught balls. Also, the game plan was seriously altered on the 2nd play of the game when Santiago went down, and they handled that really well. That said - I still can't understand why the TEs are almost invisible in our offense. The Cal Poly front three weren't getting any pressure at all, so there was no big need to keep a TE in to block. 4-5 TE targets a game (minimum) keeps everybody honest, and I hope we didn't burn Cloyd's redshirt to throw one ball to him against USD.
  5. My 3 Best: The play of our young guys, especially the true freshman wideouts Toivenen and Wanzek, and Jade Lawrence and Donnell Rodgers on D The time Studsrud had to throw. The run blocking was not consistently good, but in pass protection Keaton had time to survey the field No quit. Would have been easy to pack it in after giving up 28 unanswered. Bottom 3: Banged up. Reyes, Carter, Nevermann, Cieslak, Georges, Greer, Seibel...etc. Run blocking - many have said it already but it was too big and too obvious to leave off the list. Sitting indoors on a day like that. We'll love the Alerus in November, but on a day like Saturday it was tough to go inside. Bonus Best: Alex Reed's heads up play on punt coverage, downing two balls inside the 5.
  6. No, that wasn't your biggest mistake. Your biggest mistake was being judgmental and condescending to a student who was basically on your side. Your long-winded post was insulting and mean-spirited. Somehow you think that's going to encourage this student and others to come and stay at games? Let's face it - people have more choices for how they spend their time now. You don't have to like it, but ranting against "kids these days" isn't going to change one thing. Yes, I'm disappointed and I may have even shaken my head in mild disgust when I saw how the student section had dwindled during the course of the game, but I wasn't about to let it impact my enjoyment of the game. Their loss, regardless of the outcome. One more thing - It was an absolutely gorgeous early fall day. The inside of the Alerus is hardly going to compete with that. Add in free student tickets (no skin in the game) and a game that went from an 8-point lead to a 20-point deficit in what seemed like the blink of an eye - I wasn't surprised.
  7. Rooney was in for a few plays, too. Must be looking for the right combination because as many have said the O-Line needs to improve, and fast.
  8. This is probably pouring salt on some wounds, but I saw that Kenny Golladay had quite the trip to Laramie the other day. Stat line: 6 carries, 82 yards, including a 34-yard TD 10 catches, 144 yards, 2 TDs (39,27) The Cowboys came up with the triple-OT win, but can't blame it on Kenny.
  9. Thanks - I didn't see the game, so didn't know what happened. I hope he gets a chance somewhere else. With his speed and strength you'd think he'd be a demon on special teams for someone, at the very least.
  10. Does anyone have an update on Ratelle? I saw and heard that the Falcons are negotiating an injury settlement with him, but there's nothing listed on the Falcons web site. He's not on the roster and he's not listed as released or waived. Also - what happened? I know he played in that last preseason game.

Almost unreadable, too. Apparently they don't have a budget for editors.
  12. Sorry if someone else already posted this, but I didn't see it here. The StarTribune has picked up the media restrictions controversy: http://m.startribune.com/weird-times-at-ndsu-president-favored-sports-media-restrictions-before-criticizing-staff-revoking-them/389732411/
  13. I'm all for buying lunch for Teeder. Where do I send the check? Also - I heard Aplin has moved to guard with Rooney as the #2 center. It's early, obviously, but it sounds like there's going to be some shuffling around on the OL until the right mix is found. Stay healthy, boys!
  14. I've had that confirmed to me, too. Apparently the college thing wasn't for him. Sorry to see that, but let's move on...
  15. I have no idea if your statement is correct, but I do know that it didn't answer my question. How do the member schools in the BSC benefit from going FBS, and where does the revenue come from to sustain those programs?
  16. I'm sort of new to all this, but at a time when many schools are evaluating their athletic budgets and their commitment to big-time college sports, what's in it for the BSC or its member schools to make that leap to FBS? Many of the schools are in geographically isolated areas or small cities that just don't have a large corporate presence or a high population - both of which are critical to financial success. Many are also located in states where there are already big, established FBS programs - so "market share" might be tough to grow. In my ignorance is there something I'm missing?
  17. I don't know how a successful hockey team impacts the fan support of football - except that success in one sport creates a positive feeling about the university and its athletics that all sports may benefit from in the short term. From a recruit's angle, most of the recruits are from the upper Midwest and I think many of them have at least a passing interest in hockey. So it should help that the recruits know there's something big going on in Grand Forks during the offseason. All-in-all I'd say it's a net-positive or neutral. Certainly not a negative.
  18. As a Gopher fan you should know better than to be trolling here or anywhere else. One winning record in the Big 10 since 2003 hardly gives any of us that support the Maroon and Gold a reason to crow. The Gophers have lost to more Dakota teams than they've beaten in that stretch - so who's the wannabe?
  19. I was with a guy this weekend that compared Will's pro day numbers to combine performances of Luke Kuechly and Brian Urlacher. He just picked those two guys somewhat randomly. Will's numbers are either better or at least in the ballpark with both of those guys. Kuechly ran a 4.58 40, did 27 reps on the bench, had a vertical of 38, and a 123" broad jump. Will's broad jump was 118" - otherwise they were very close.
  20. You're correct - you don't need an invite to go. I'm fairly certain that the NCAA prohibits any sort of exclusive camps - they must be open to anyone. But an invitation from a coach to attend is an important sign of interest from that school. Put it this way - getting an invite is not a huge thing. Not getting an invite tells you something.
  21. I'm sure D-line will be on the list, as they didn't sign any in this last class. I've also heard that there's some interest in an O-lineman or two from my area, but don't know if they've been invited for a junior day. A scholarship QB will have to be in the mix, too.
  22. I like the new functions on this site, especially the "Ignored Users" list. Think of it as an azzhat removal tool.
  23. That would make for a LONG(er) COLD(er) winter...

    2016 Season

I would disagree that he quit the team. He played a full season, and it sounds like he did everything that was required of him in the classroom. He made a choice to leave school after the 1st semester for family reasons, not for academic or disciplinary ones. A former coach at my alma mater always preaches "Faith, Family, Football - in that order." UND doesn't necessarily come with the faith component, but I think most would agree that family trumps football. If he had chosen football over family, people would be criticizing him and questioning his character there, too. I trust the coaches to consider the circumstances and make the right decision. Assuming he does rejoin the team, I assume that there's a pretty firm and explicit understanding that this only happens once.

That's great to know. I had heard there was some question about that, but it was speculation more than anything. He's a rare talent so it would be great to have him back in the classroom and on the field, whenever that might happen!
