  1. I heard he is moving on, and that the coaching staff is supporting him in finding a new opportunity. That was a casual conversation while I was at the game on Saturday, so don't take it as the gospel truth just yet.
  2. You're probably right about the coaches liking consistent routines. I for one would really go for a later start time, though. Leaving at 6 AM from the Twin Cities with little margin for error to get to GF by game time - not my favorite. We stay in GF on Saturday night anyway, so a 3:00 or 4:00 start would be awesome. Also - wouldn't it be better for student attendance if it was later? Some are just thinking about breakfast at 1:00 PM on a Saturday!
  3. Iwarri still looked a little tentative to me - stutter-stepping rather than hitting the hole decisively. He will find a home - just not yet sure that it's at RB. As for Santiago, his first run on Saturday was an ankle-breaker for two defenders. It's a combination of vision and amazing ability to stop on a dime, change directions and accelerate quickly again - just like that Wyoming TD run. And of course, flat out "he gone" speed in the open field. As others have said - get 20 lbs on him and then really watch out. Fun!
  4. Word on Olivera was mixed after the game. He was definitely in a lot of pain, but I heard that there may be no tears in his knee. Fingers crossed that it's not a major injury.
  5. I'm doing my part - making the trip on Saturday AM and bringing a few with me. Go Fighting Roughrider Hawks!
  6. I thought someone else posted this, too, but I don't see it here. Another UND commit made the StarTrib 2nd Team - WR Jake Geier of Andover.
  7. My mistake - Bennett Helgren made it too: @rshaver11: A big night and honor for @Bhelgren74 watch tonight on @kare11 at 10:15 and 11pm on KARE11.2 #kareallmetro
  8. Evan Holm will be announced as a KARE11 All-Metro player tonight: @rshaver11: A big night and honor for @HolmCookin watch @kare11 tonight at 10:15 and 11pm on KARE11. #kareallmetro
  9. While the Alerus isn't perfect, I think Phase II of the HPC is more critical from a recruiting standpoint. The practice facility is a huge upgrade and should all but eliminate weather concerns from recruits who make their official visits in January and try to imagine practicing in that cold. The fact is, though, that players spend the VAST majority of their time in the bowels of a facility that was built in 1927. New weight room, new locker room, and perhaps most importantly - new meeting rooms - would go a long way to improving the overall image and the actual experience the players have. The Memorial facilities are long on character and nostalgia, but can't match up to the glitz of the newer facilities at places like SDSU. Fortunately, a lot of kids don't really base their decisions on whose facilities are best. They're important as eye candy during the recruiting visits and so it's necessary to stay at least comparable to what other schools have. But, the football program, the coaches, the university reputation - those are the things that win with parents and a healthy percentage of recruits. Finish the HPC, then go for the big kahuna.
  10. Santiago with 87 yards on 6 carries, halfway through 1st quarter!
  11. 28 yards passing in the half isn't going to get it done, even with 192 yards rushing. I think a big portion of the debate about who the QB should be is over.
  12. On the radio broadcast the sideline reporter said the side judge was completely screened from the play. She must have been standing at the same angle.

  15. From Section Playoff game in progress: John Casper Jr. ‏@johncasperjr 3m3 minutes agoThis is getting out of hand. Red Wing leads 27-6 with 5:10 to play after Travis Toivonen's third TD reception of the day. 7:46 PM - 20 Oct 2015 · Details0 retweets0 favoritesReply Retweet Favorite More
  16. I for one am enjoying the fact that there's a debate about this team's chances of making the playoffs at this stage of the season. That alone is progress!
  17. Somebody please tell me that the end of that game was all just a bad dream...
  18. David La Vaque (@David_LaVaque)10/16/15, 9:09 PMA 58-yard INT for a score by Evan Holm gives Edina a 21-6 lead over Mounds View with 39.2 seconds to go #mshsl
  19. I missed this earlier in the week, but in addition to Travis Toivonen, UND commit Evan Holm is also up for the StarTribune Player of the Week - but on the defensive side of the ball: Evan Holm, Edina DB, senior: Hoff, a North Dakota commit, recorded four tackles, intercepted two passes, and defended a pass in a 21-20 loss to Wayzata. Holm leads the West Metro - South sub-district with five interceptions. List of Nominees and Voting Here
  20. Another update on Travis Toivonen. He's up for the StarTribune's Offensive Player of the Week after a 13 catch 225 yard performance last Friday. Here's the link the list of nominees and the voting: http://bit.ly/1Lur1pK
  21. Two defensive-minded teams - I'm going with a grinder: UND 17 PSU 10
  22. Thanks for the breakdown with times... really helpful! I'm interested, but crunched for time. That's a big help!
  23. OK, that Stevie Coury/Jonas Brother one is downright creepy. Separated at birth?
  24. I'll give you 1.5 out of 3. I didn't see any dropped INTs, so you don't get the half-point for that. And I'm REALLY glad you were wrong on the ground game. I couldn't handle another 25 yard output, much less 4. On to PSU!
