Javon Butler........I don't know, the coaches are paid to figure out something that looks like an offense. And I was referring to NDSU's jet sweep run package.
-
Well, some one caught it. Saying we want to run the ball is great and it is fun to pound your chest and talk about, but let's not be so philosophically stubborn that we won't adjust or have an offensive package in place to jump start things. Why not go to a hurry up 2 minute offense with a big arm on the bench, it would have been better than sitting under center for 15 seconds waiting to see how loud the SU fan base could get. And after that long wait we run a very simple run play a junior high team could grasp in about 5 seconds. News flash, we are going to face teams that are more talented, to say we are going to run the ball until we have "the horses" to do it is foolish. I'm sure the Packers could run full back dive all game long against a high school team because they have the horses to do it. So for UND, we better find a way to generate offense and points cause I don't see any high school teams on the schedule. Look at SU, they like the power run game, but weren't married to it. They only had about 35 yards from their power stuff. The jet sweep misdirection was way more effective on the ground. And.........they knew they could pass, especially on one of our corners that I have no idea why he is in there. If SU would have ran power running plays all day they probably would have won 10-9.

Who is the SU player? They should own it and apologize or we'll have to assume that's the way they coach and play.

absolutely dirty. I took cut blocks for 4 years, glad I didn't take one from that angle........

Matchups..... I like our run defense against NDSU. Pass defense should be OK. The game will come down to Wentz making big plays or not. UND offense against NDSU defense, both have been up and down.....whoever wins this matchup wins. Rudolph was hired cause he gave fits to Bubba coaching against him. Let's see some magic Ruddy. 27-24 UND shocks 17,750 in the dome (all the NDSU fans and half the UND fans)

OK, so rated high fundamentally. Overall, if Drake wins the Pioneer League and hangs within 10 in their play-off game I will call them a good team. Until then, I have to go with pretty average.

I liked DeLuca's hit. QB's are suppose to slide before contact, not as contact is forthcoming and impossible to stop. I know we are not suppose to be nice or agreeable, so suck it. (I kid I kid)
-
Wentz should worry about not hurting himself......don't fight with a defensive lineman, WWE style, when more defenders are coming!! That's how he got hurt. It wasn't from an ankle tackle. For UND, a tackle is a tackle.

We will likely 'spy' on 3rd and mediums and other times near the red zone. They like to run Wentz when they need a 1st down or touchdown, no surprises there.

oh boy.....prepare to get stupid this week-

a $5.00 can of stick'm and we would have 5 picks?? we are due!!

yep. I thought he looked good, too.

How about fundamentals? On Santiago's first fumble and other runs the ball was in the wrong arm. Studsrud had a non forced fumble with the QB/center exchange, had the ball on the ground twice more, and panicked once near his own end zone and luckily it was ruled a forward pass. Can we just catch on ball on defense this year? That would help. Even some tackling was sloppy. DBs need to know when the QB is likely to float a 50/50 ball. O line needs to see the wizard, looking for their heart. Need to clean this crap up. We will see how good our coaching staff is this week.

UND players were bad, too, on offense, didn't miss that part of it-
-
Sometimes coaches get in the way of things, like NDSU not running the ball more against Montana, especially on their last series. Or, like UND not doing some things they could of been doing because of the current opponent, and this week's opponent, SU. Coaching staffs always are doing what they think is best for their team. But, I think in both of these instances coaches were wrong.

did you watch? Because at one point it was 21-0 and we fumbled through the goal line negating another 7. We hit the cruise control a little too early, vanilla downed the offense, and played a lot of guys on D. We let off too soon and things got slippery. UND showed a little youth yesterday. No doubt we have to play a lot better to compete with SU.

yes- I think that change will be made this week.
