  1. It's all about perspective. This isn't an O-Line or team that's going to get their tits lit by 50 points by Montana or Eastern like in the dark days. My read, the 'concern' is can this unit bring us through a deep play-off run. And that is questionable, but is a better concern to have than can this O-Line even win us a game.
  2. Ohhhh Really??
  3. Not D-line, my bad, a safety Marcus Williams declared early for the draft. Thanks for the research.
  4. He's good with technique and X's and O's. We weren't properly taught to run block before his arrival. Last year Coe was the only OL that could consistently push a guy on a one-on-one battle. Luke will look better when more guys get a push. I think we are in good hands, but for how long is the question.
  5. The QBs might have taken off and scrambled on a few of the sacks, but since QBs realize they are not live they hung in the pocket a little too long. Real game those feet become a little more 'happy'. The lesson - We have to handle defensive pressure teams better, like Stony Brook was, and Studsy will need to make plays with his feet. He is capable of that. So, it is concerning, but not at bad as the numbers in a Spring game.
  6. And I think their best DL is leaving early for the draft, too!! Yes, it will be an interesting game. Taylor and Schmitty will probably be thinking about each other all summer.
  7. https://www.utahutes.com/news/2017/1/2/football-troy-taylor-is-utahs-new-offensive-coordinator.aspx?path=football Our defense will be watching more Eastern Washington tape than Utah tape from last year. I really like Palmborg and Haas in a game like this at outside backer. (Palmborg because of his previous safety play and Hass because of his height and overall ability)
  8. Ditto on the above comments. Mckinney will play this fall. Ray Haas looks really good. He is carrying 220 lbs right now, at 6' 5". I think he starts. O-line got worked a little, but a lot of guys moving around. They need to establish some leadership and cohesiveness. We have more depth at o-line now but need some players that are 'OK' to have a really good summer. D-backs were banged up, a lot of guys sat, but Randolph looks legit. He will be in 2 deep for sure and could push for starting opposite of Reyes. TE, Logan Alm checking in at 270, holy crap. Pinke really looked a lot bigger, too. TE position is deep. Norberg is just fricken huge. I saw him close up, he looks like an NFL player.
  9. I heard solid. Interesting that with all the formations and TE flips it is a pretty tough position to grasp. Feidler has played a lot and will be very solid. Expect Cloyd to break out this year with a year under his belt. The new kid coming in is suppose to be good, too, a chance, just a chance, he might play this fall, Graham Devore. Pinke, put on some good weight, could see the field.
  10. That would totally F up my World Women's Fantasy hockey team!! I was US heavy this year-
  11. When 'Keep'n it real goes wrong'.
  12. Thanks, we are all dumber now for reading your 2 cents -
  13. I am not as negative on the Alerus as most. Recruits and their parents absolutely love the CanadInn and restaurants being attached and all under 1 roof. Who else can offer that?
  14. Great, now I have to look up the word "sarcasm", us futball giys dont speek nun wel. Not to mention playing a road game for $400,000 and the HPC would not have been built, or needed I guess.
  15. And over the past 4 years, Hungary, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark Hockey, too. It's not that I don't think it's neat and cool to have the European players on the roster, I just assume it's a little more expensive than players from MN and Canada. (If we had an Irish player my entire lineage would be covered) Gopher's roster 2016 - MN, Canada, ILL. and even 1 from North Dakota.
  16. Bemidji St. and St. Cloud State Women's hockey combined budget is less than UND's. If you want to be the Golden Gophers of WH, win and earn it with tradition, you can't spend your way there. So start there, cutting expenses. Generating revenue, not going to happen so fund-raise and work on the endowments. That should have been in any and every letter or movement to save WH, not the PC gibbly-goo activist approach. And I doubt with 10 additional years in the real word you've become more liberal because of a child. Anyway, I already told my story about my girls and the WH team, doesn't change the facts that this isn't a social injustice, but a financial disaster. I am for the cut, but would be open to WH if they could meet certain criteria, like year 1, cut out the international BS and $1 million from their annual deficit.
  17. He was one of the 1st to commit in the most recent class. His highlight film is solid. He was even quoted in an article about how strong the UND recruiting class was looking. Then, he just dropped off with no other news or commitments to anywhere else. You can be a couch legend, or try to be the real thing on the field. I am glad he came back around!!
  18. Ya, I don't get it - gundy (member- city little league runner up, 1986)
  19. Wow, the difference is staggering!!
  20. I should start using this line around the house.......maybe not, but this sums it up for me. The Lammys could of asked for a face to face meeting, and asked for a chance to cut expenses, raise some funding, and bridge the gap from now until a full endowment instead of sounding like a couple dumb jocks. I think WH on their own could cut their budget by a few hundred thousand (coaching salaries, scholarships, and recruiting internationally), raise a few hundred thousand and start looking for an endowment type of pledge and many would have been OK with an extension of WH as long as financial criteria were being met. (example, WH was only going to cost the University $500,000/year for the next 3 years, then $350,000 the next 3, and so on until fully endowed. It just seems like nobody had a vision while thinking Men's Hockey would always keep them off the chopping block. How do we see what Bemidje St. and St. Cloud State has for a WH budget? Just a shot in the dark, it's far less than UND.
  21. Was planning on signing up 2 skaters, decided against it. Being in Detroit Lakes it would have fit nicely into summer plans. Savings of $500.
  22. In a smoke filled room- Mr. X, "Why don't we cut WH?" Mr. Y, "Can we do that? Mr. Z, "Yes, but it will be extremely controversial and could give us a Title 9 nightmare." Mr. Y, "How can we save WH?" Mr. X, "WH doesn't generate any income so anything short of a $30+ million endowment and it will always be subsidized." Mr. Y, "Any chance WH grows in popularity and carries it's own weight?" Mr. X and Z, "ha ha ha ha, no." Mr. Y, "how much does WH cost each year?" Mr. Z, "over $2 million a year but we are all too scared to report this to the public cause we are scared shitless of political correctness." Mr. Y, "for f-sake, WH has no idea this is coming do they?" Mr. Z, "awe...no, they actually are practicing tomorrow and have a big recruit coming in." Mr. Y, "for f-sake." Mr. X, "maybe if they didn't run the WH program like an international program their expenses wouldn't be so fricken high." Mr Y, "that's not my problem now. If our attorneys can make it work, let's do it then." Mr. Z, "should we throw in swimming and diving, too, maybe a slight diversion for slashing WH?" Mr Y, "we have a swimming and diving team? For f-sake, might as well."
  23. I think we are really close- Increase price, some upside revenue for MH. Expand Ralph, not sure about that. I was in NY for hockey, had to watch the FB game on TV and phone. I was in Fargo for both regionals, did you see the big double flag? The football blinders stigma is incorrect for me. All I am saying is let's keep hockey on top and look to Boise St and Gonzaga as examples of great visionaries as what could be in FB and BB. The success of UND FB and BB drives it's own growth, not sure hockey success matters too much to drive growth in these sports. Financall yes, hockey drives things at UND. But to be honest, a room full of UND hockey only fans can get a little stuffy. As far as women's hockey, being a youth coach I took a large group of termite girls to a WH game and just this month am running a youth camp for girls hockey to start half ice games. At the football games I always took my daughters to meet the WH players with the old 'hard work and dreams' speech. I golfed with Fabian, UND fundraiser, a great guy. I am saddened by the opportunity lost to young girls but that doesn't mean I am going to quit on developing WH with my girls and their current and future teammates. My family also billets for the Fargo Force. I've kept a close eye on our commit to UND. All things considered at UND, I support the cut of WH but at the same time I am not thrilled with it.
  24. No offense taken- By all means, try to stack Natty's each and every year. I want football to get there, too, albeit at FCS. I understand those who talk about basketball, too, although personally I don't care for Hoops.
  25. NDSU football to Alabama football, that's a gap of epic proportions. Geographic limits do apply I understand. UND Hockey to what........UND Hockey. I agree this one is near maxed out. But let's keep it maxed out and grow FB and BB. I think that's all some are saying.
