  1. Studsruds also throws latw, yet we managed to get some completions with him at QB, with the same receivers and pass protection. Put any of our three QBs in a situation where you only throw when there are no other options and you're in for a tough end to the season. We have 3 games left and won't be favored in any of them. We will need to have some kind of passing threat available or we could end up finishing the season on a 6 game skid.
  2. Regardless of who the QB is, there needs to.be play calling that lets the QB have some early success in the passing game. This means throwing on first and second down early in the game.
  3. From reading the paper, sounds like Montana worked hard to get their qb confident before the game. Also from the paper, Bubba doesn't seem too concerned about that... Pointing out that studsruds throwing and running abilities are much better than Bartle's doesn't accomplish anything positive for this team and I was surprised to see that come from Bubba
  4. i am assiming he is hurt. Is medical redshirt an option for him?
  5. I don't care how bad our passing game is, if our OC can't find a high percentage play to get us 5 yards on a.pass, when the D is zelling out for the run, we need to get a different OC
  6. My stream is poor today.
  7. Anyone surprised Olivera isnt getting more carries? He has shown some pretty good strength on oƧcasion. I like Smith's speed, but wonder how well a 17 year old kid is going to hold up. Really wish he would have red shirted this year. If he is out with injuries after just three games, is a medical red shirt an option?
  8. Seriously? Losses to Wyoming and NDSU, and getting thru the BSC schedule with only two losses wouldn't be a successful season? Ummm, OK.
  9. It doesn't bother me that we aren't giving Wyoming any extra film to study, especially when we are putting in some new schemes. Also, a scripted scrimmage of offense against defense will give the coaches a much better chance to evaluate the players they need to make decisions about. This game isn't televized because the coaching staff didn't want it to be televized... This year.
  10. There is an upside to this one. Think about it. "Here we go bison, here we go, big cocks suck, here we go bison, here we go, big cocks suck..." Might be 2018 before the FU folks think about what they are really saying, but once they figure it out, that chant might finally be put to rest.
  11. I am a little surprised at the hype over studsrud. If we have an offensive line and a run game, then by far the biggest thing we need out of our qb is passing accuracy, and I think bartles and molberg are way ahead of stuezrud in that category. I still think it makes a lot of sense to redshirt studsrud.
  12. I think either molberg or bartles can be effective for us. If we have some success running the ball, which I think we will, we don't need a quarterback to do a whole lot more than hand the ball off and make Good reads on the pass plays.I would really like to see studsrud red shirt next year. With the quarterbacks we brought in this year, I think it would be good to have him have a couple of years of eligibility left after Bartles and Moberg are done.
  13. Seems a little harsh. some kids have a longer than average wingspan and that puts them at a significant disadvantage on the bench, some kids play 4 sports and don't have as much time to spend in the weight room. Some kids are more interested in girls than the weight room. If Bubba saw fit to offer him a PWO, and the kid is willing to take a PWO( no money) to try and make the team, I am happy as heck to have him on board. He, like almost everyone who commits out of highschool will need to get a lot stronger and we have coaches who can help with that. We have hit it big with players like this before - Jay somebody, played defensive end a couple of years ago. By the way, he hasn't accepted the PWO yet has he?
  14. Looking at the commitments we have so far, what positions does everyone hope to see filled with the remaining commitments we get? I would like to see some good athletes in these positions. 1. Cornerback. Seems like a pretty big need to me. We don't have a lot of depth here, and even less experience. 2. QB. I think we need to get at least one or two a year. I would expect we will always have issues with guys leaving if it looks like they aren't going to get playing time, and it could be hard to maintain depth if we don't recruit this position consistently. 3. Defensive Line. We have some good athletes returning, but not a lot of depth. 4. Linebackers. Its nice to have about 8 guys ready to play at all times with the way we use our LBs. 5 Tight end. 6. Wide receiver - we need some speed.
  15. Do FBS players typically transfer at the end of the football season, or after spring ball? Seems like we would be more likely to see an FBS transfer after spring ball and I think that is when Hinojosa (spelling) came to UND. Not sure when Tillman and Jenkins-Moore came along. Can we assume that we might sign some FBS drop downs after spring ball/over the summer, and some scholarships will need to be saved for that possibility?
  16. with the number of recruits/transfers this year and last, is it sort of a necessity that a decent percentage of these be transfers with just a couple of years left? I would assume we wouldn't want 60 scholarships tied up for the next 4-5 years?
  17. The Sioux winning 3 out of the last 4 against the Bison sounds about right. From 1993 to 2003 UND was 9 wins and 4 losses against NDSU. As far as a recruiting advantage, the Sioux can offer early playing time to recruits. I am not naive enough to think this balances us out against the story NDSU can tell, but it certainly helps narrow the gap.
  18. What did you all expect? We have been hit hard with injuries, played a freshman QBS who looked horrible last week and weber is far from a bad football team. Garmen looked good for the third week in a row, and has proven just about everyone on this bord wrong about his ability to play at this level, Studsrud looked much better this week. Our D is on the field a lot and is still leading the big sky in three categories. We are getting better and will continue to do so. Saying things like this team has given up is ridiculous. so was expecting this team to make the playoffs this year. Realistic expectations and patience aren't easy when FU looks like they might win their fourth straight NC, but they help put things in the right perspective and keep everyone from jumping off the bridge when we loose a football game. There are just as many things to like and be excited about this season as there are things to bitch about. Hope we can all stay on the right side of this debate.
  19. I counted 6 dropped passes in the first half. 3 of them would have extended the drive if they were caught. The D was weak, but it might have something to do with SUU having three weeks of tape to look at to know what our tendencies were and figure out where they could take advantage of us. the Montana schools didn't really have this and we might have been able to sneak up on them. My guess is for the rest of the season our defense is going to be somewhere in the middle of what we thought it was after the Montana games and what we saw today. Overall though, I am not too disappointed. We played well in the first and 3rd quarters (minus the dropped pitch and the dropped passes). We aren't a playoff team yet, but we are getting better and have the potential for 2 -3 more wins this year, which is much better than I expected. This year has already shown that the next few years of Sioux football should be pretty exciting. Recruiting should get much easier, the stands should start filling up again, and we can expect to be in a close game every Saturday. I'll take that after last year.
  20. Things I heard, said, and believed up until 2 weeks ago: Our D-line is too small to get enough pressure for the 3 - 4 to work. We will be hard pressed to win another game all year. There isn't enough talent on this team to win at the FCS level. We have players who wouldn't have played at the D2 level for UND 10 years ago. We won't be competitive for 2-3 years. There is still a lot of work to be done, but I feel good about the direction this team is heading in. I gotta believe recruiting just got a whole lot easier for Bubba and crew.
  21. Wow. UND should win this one by a couple of scores. Where can I go to place my bet?!
  22. I had it in my head we were playing eastern Washington next week. I don't think our offense is at the point where we will pound anyone, but I would think we should at least be favored to win. It will be interesting to see if the D plays with the same fearlessness and aggressiveness In a game where we are favored.
