Here is a quote from a UND football coach who is brand new, is putting 11 players on the field who are exceeding expectations, has beaten NDSU, and is getting young players to play well: “We were not ready to play against a very talented SDSU team,” head coach Matt Kellogg said after the loss. “That’s my fault and I have to do a better job of that this week.”
  2. He was taunted on the play and reacted poorly, but in that situation, I have to admit I was glad to see his reaction and glad to see him get the next carry. at least he didn't just roll over and take it. We got the 15 yards back when the refs evened things out after the next set of downs. More importantly, the Oline should have responded better there and made sure miller got a good gain. Seeing miller throw an LB on his ass in between a couple of good gains could have been a big spark.
  3. Agree with this, but last night we should have seen more of Bartels, or at least more of Bartels throwing and less of Ger running

We have a very difficult schedule this year with two tough non conference games and making the playoffsnthisyear may or may not happen. We have had good recruiting years for two years in a row and have solid O and D coordinators in place. I expect a lot of good things to come in the future and would much rather see the current coaching staff stay in place than roll the dice on someone who likely wouldn't be able to out recruit the coaches we currently have.

Stay on bisonville where your posts belong.
  6. I am not ready to throw Bartels under the bus yet. He did his part to get us off to a 14 - 0 start to the game against a good defense. Both QBs made mistakes. Joe threw 2 passes from his knees for Pete's sake. joe probably earned his chance tonight, but by no means is Bartels out of the running in my mind.

I think there is hope for the defense. they looked very good at times tonight and hopefully this game will help the coaches get the right personnel in the right positions. I am less optimistic about our run game. Miller is good when he can find holes and read blocks, but I don't know that our Oline is going to be able to do that for him, and this isn't the type of thing that changes over night. The Jacks do have a good Dline, so lets hope I am off base.
  8. In the Valpo game I thought Joe was slower to make good reads and took a sack he shouldn't have. I n this game, his mobility was a big plus, and with our Oline, I think we are going to need a mobile QB, and a good back up QB.

I was hoping to see more of Shaugaby tonight. I would like to see him get in for an entire series, get comfortable, and see what he is capable of.

seriously? we have two freshman QBs who are going to make mistakes. you are going to judge our season based on how our first two real games go?

Yes, Dale and crew have done real well in the MVFC.
  12. Anyone know how valpo compares to SD School of Mines?
  13. I like the idea of giving Bartles and Molberg nearly equal playing time. they have both earned it, it makes for a better apples to apples comparison of the two, and it forces the Jacks. To prepare for two QBs

So if we make the playoffs Mussman should be coach of the year, and if we don't he should be fired. It's settled.
  15. Anyone know how Edwards and Lablat are looking. they are two guys who I am hoping will be able step up and be immediate contributors next year.
  16. Wasn't spring ball supposed to start today? Any news?

  18. There is no reason to think this wont be a fair battle for the top spot. With four years of eligibility left for both of them, and a pass heavy offense, I am sure we will get a chance to see plenty of each of them over their careers at UND - it would seem unlikely that there wouldn't be injuries to deal with. We are lucky to have what appears to be the start of some good depth in this position
  19. Ok. That makes sense. But Unis still wouldn't appeal to me. Something that makes a more of a difference in improving the program would though, for the reasons you stated above.
  20. I would donate money to an IPF, but couldn't care less about what their uniform looks like. This isn't a fashion show.
  21. Is it possible that he is going to have to retake his ACT and get a qualifying score before he can be offered?
  22. I would guess Luke is reaping the benefits of a lot of hard work and time developing connections when he was a coach in Illinois.
  23. So, what surprises are we hoping for tomorrow? Cornerbacks and maybe another d lineman are on my wish list. Otherwise things are looking excellent IMO.
  24. Looks like this is going to be a great class and a great opportunity for the players in it!
