  1. And halfway (or a third?) lost the GF Herald recently.
  2. I realize this is about ND HS hockey but just for fun, where would EGF fit in there? I'm no great HS hockey mind by any means but my guess is 2, 3 or 4? Are they about on par with Davies and RR this season but well behind GFC?
  3. No doubt, preference would be somewhere in the middle. Anyway, I would still take Bud. This ain't a football blog/site but to be fair to Bud Grant, they were pretty much the best team NFC team for much of the 70s but lost 3 SBs to pretty damn good all-time teams in Miami, Pittsburgh, and Oakland so it was really no tragedy losing to them. The KC loss though, ugh.
  4. Hmm..., Mount Rushmore (and I'm not a Pats fan).
  5. That stat, while nice, tells me then that overall (season as a whole) they're probably an average or slightly above average team. Maddingly they sometimes look like world beaters and sometimes they've looked like they can't beat anybody (just 1 win in 6 games vs Bem St, Miami-OH, and W. Mich).
  6. I think his point though is a little more meaningful in that the 2016 team was really Hak's team while last season was obviously more so Berry's team.
  7. Amen. Marv Levy and Bud Grant, who we all know lost multiple SBs, were arguably better coaches than T. Dungy and J. Gruden, regardless whether the latter two won SB titles.
  8. That's my #1 pet peeve with basketball (besides the last 3 min taking 20 min in a close game) unless you're head and shoulders above another team good luck trying to win a non-conf game on the road. I say that as at least in a conf game on the road the refs are from the conf of both schools but I believe when they're non-conf games normally the refs are from the conf of the home team. If that's not right (after all, UND men did win at Milwaukee earlier this season) then I stand corrected.
  9. Thx, interesting stats. 35th, slightly below average pp then so not quite as dour as suspected but obviously room for big improvement. Another interesting stat was goals for/against difference (scoring margin), we're tied with Minn at 0.0.
  10. I hear you but I believe it's been woeful for the most part this season, hasn't it (not sure where their pp % ranks nationally)?
  11. But didn't Scheel stand out in the 5 game win streak (though he started the bulk of those games)?
  12. With apologies to the clowns.
  13. Duluth ran into a hot goalie (believe I've heard that one before...) on Sat night. In all seriousness too, had Duluth not been so undisciplined and taken 7 called penalties then UND may not have won despite their woeful pp. At least those minutes short-handed kept Duluth on the defense rather than attacking. That is about the only "positive" I can take away regarding UND's pp.
  14. Agree, saw a ref or two quickly step in halfway during the line handshake.
  15. Agree. The Goofer football team fired their defensive coach 3 games ago and the turn-around in those last 3 games was night and day. Our head coach too should fire the pp coach for putrid power play performance/output. It could turn it around...
  16. Stating the obvious but the 3rd period, I believe, is huge. I am not optimistic but I sure hope UND proves me wrong (they have a lot of times over the years when I've been Nancy negative lthough the past season and a half maybe not so true).
  17. Real cheap shot, if that ain't 5 then I turn the game off. What scares me though is we likely go scoreless on 5 min pp and give all the momentum to Duluth.
  18. Agree, I saw both of those two, pretty blatant. Still, Gooch can't retaliate.
  19. Plain and simple, it sux.
  20. That's good stuff, great point. Yah, no doubt Jost would have made difference in gaining one more win (minimum) last season.
  21. While I hear what you're saying in ref to "afternoon paper" as the news is late, they would actually be better if they did go back to being an afternoon paper again (or even just mid morning), that way the game stories from the previous night would at least make it in the next day's paper instead of 2 -3 days later. But yup, WDAZ is slowly fading away...
  22. You make a great point. Heck, not even thinking about what happens next week if we somehow win tomorrow night then a split is certainly a success series-wise as that's all I was hoping for. We lay another egg tomorrow night though and yoy…..
  23. I take it he didn't? I would agree with you, heck I would of spouted piss and vinegar and I'm not the coach, just a fan.
  24. Spot on! I believe his first goal after that was his in his first game back following that in the Final 5 in St Paul and didn't he score a goal like on his first shift if I recall correctly?!
  25. I expected nothing less but he is in reality a UND employee, correct (like the men's hoops play by play guy who a few years ago was suspended for describing UND's game ending play in a late close loss as "choke job")? Isn't Hennessy under the same employment scenario?
