  1. Nah, the rivalry is still there. It heats up just a hair too being we just won a natty. Throw in the USA - Canada rivalry bit too although over-emphasized lately as the Sioux are like 1/3 Canadian, 1/3 Minn/GF metro area and 1/3 rest of US, no? We have a nice mix. Also, lil school/big school match-up adds to it a bit. I'm no Goofer apologist but they might not be the worst MN team, (Bem St probably but no doubt play UND tough), Goofs could be right up there with Duluth/St Clown/Mavs as top MN team next season--close battle. Min should start off a top 10-15 team this coming season, no?
  2. Isn't it like 14 or 15 years or something like that or am I thinking NCAA tourney? Oops, wrong post. I was responding to Cratter asking how long since UND missed a post season conference tourney.
  3. Don't know. Touching on your subject, there might be a coach that needs replacing after next season if things drop off too much (I don't expect them to get any better/move up any in the standings).
  4. Not to get a big head but I'm guessing 75% of these good stats are due to UND being in the conference. I gotta believe that.
  5. No doubt, our hated rival DU and fellow NCHC member, gave us the toughest test in the NCAA tourney. I do not like DU (nor green eggs and ham) and their fans (what few there are) chatter about ND on blogs, but they ended up the second best team in the country (hard to be believe after their performance at the Ralph in Dec).
  6. You're right, the game at DU Fri was the one we should of had to gain the split. DU playing well and we struggle a bit there so figured going into Sat almost right off the bat (since Fri was really our "win") we were looking at a sweep.
  7. Man, we think alike--my thoughts exactly.
  8. Yah, a few hours away but gotta hit Itasca State Park and the Mississippi River head waters and beautiful Bemidji. Duluth is also a must see and the surrounding sites around it (the falls, lighthouse, etc).
  9. Not to bitch but they look like giant flat screen tvs...that's it? Better than nothing I guess.
  10. Hey, no doubt young man. Pattyn was heart/soul/grit a ND hockey player, certainly not the most talented, but a great asset nonetheless.
  11. Respect the office (POTUS) and your team, that simple.
  12. Hope to God it ain't Trump though...
  13. I do believe in miracles, yes! They now have 2 more wins this season (double digits!) than Chi W Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale.
  14. Prettiest bizun cheerleader of the year?
  15. But a natty shouldn't be part of the criteria for best 4 year player at UND. To a very large degree winning a natty is subject to circumstances out of that a player's control (e.g. being on a good team). Yes, a great player can make a good team better but if you put either Mark Taylor or Greg Johnson or Cags or Kristo or Phil Sykes on last season's CC or Wis teams (or even last season's Mia of Ohio or W Mich or Mich St teams) they still don't win a natty.
  16. Pathetic in all phases of the game. I just knew they wouldn't add to their 5-4 lead late with the bases loaded and their pitching would cough up the lead. Very unprofessional hitting, can't even make contract (let alone get a hit) with the bases loaded in the 8th inning tonight with just 1 out. Both Sano and Suzuki struck out, which I had a feeling would happen. And dumb ass base running again in last inning with team trailing again although Santana got lucky (unlike Sano a few weeks ago), making it safely to 3rd on the errant throw--otherwise he's out by a country mile.
  17. Don't get me wrong, I loved Duncan and he was a very fine college player, but didn't he play on a line with 2 players maybe better than himself (even he admitted that). And are we including "intangibles" (i.e. student-athlete) here or just best 4 year hockey player?
  18. I'm an old dude so the "old days" seem better but we need to remember when comparing Drake's totals to Taylor's, Johnson's and Ward's numbers unless he's Gretzky-like they simply won't compare. It's a different time and if I recall an article I read a year por two ago said avg total goals per game now in college hockey is about half what it was maybe 20-25 years ago. So, of course Drake's numbers will pale in comparison to old timers. I'm by no means saying Drake is Mark Taylor or Steve Johnson or Dixon War but need to keep in mind it makes it very hard to fairly compare players in different eras, no doubt.
  19. Knight and Kristo, how quick this old dude forgets. Yes, both very fine players at the collegiate level.
  20. Impressive group, no doubt.
  21. How "soon" we forget. Yah, Mark Taylor no doubt a top 4 year player.
  22. You have got to be kidding?! You sure he wasn't just pulling your leg?
  23. Troy Murray was damn good at UND but I'm thinking he was just a few years outside the 30 year window (early-mid 80s?).
