Illinois State ran a variation of the 3-4 defense. They had linebackers as big as UND's defensive ends. UND is just too small up front.

USD 2-deep lists them using the 3-4 defense. their starters go 275/320/300 with 2 backups going at 300/305. Linebackers go 255/215/230/225. They seem to be able to get the right sized linemen for that defense.

I know some have called for backup QBs to be given some reps. Here are the stats going back to 2017. It appears to me that unless the #1 gets hurt the backups are pretty much on the bench. Does anyone remember if the #1 was hurt in 2017 or 2019? they are the only years backups got substantial reps.
