Here's a Youtube video of a radio station interview with Courtney. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6qJc6i6pRo At the 7:30 mark, she talks about why she chose UND. She just loved it when she visited and felt it was the right fit. She could have played basketball, or gone to some higher majors for volleyball like Ole Miss, She must know a number of her future teammates, especially Griffin who is from Marshall.

Sac St had earlier announced that they would build a new arena, but they didn't announce the funding source. Turns out the students have to pay an extra $219 a semester for it to happen. The vote will be Dec 2 and 3rd. The Nest badly needs to be replaced as the Hornets home. A new arena for the Kings is being built, but that would be too big for Hornets sports. Sac St needs to gets its facilities up to date before it can reasonably move to FBS. http://www.kcra.com/news/students-push-for-a-new-arena-at-sac-state/29312662

We should make top 50 in attendance this year too. And that came without having any blowout attendance games like against NDSU. Can't seem to find the 2013 top 50, but we should be striving to another UNI, Wichita St, or Creighton in attendance and performance. http://www.uwbadgers.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/011414aaa.html

It is encouraging that Pioske seems to have found her freshmen form. She hit over 700 against Montana. Anything approaching 400 would be welcome vs Idaho and EWU. Hard to hit for power if you have nagging shoulder problems. We are a different team if Pioske and Robinson are hitting with power.

If you pay all the women's sports coaches less than the men's sports coaches, that is a lawsuit waiting to happen, even if the women's sports coaches are men. Title IX kicks in if there isn't some evidence of equity (i.e. two or three women's sports coaches are paid above the median for all sports at that institution). There is court cases that affirm that premise: http://www.womenssportsfoundation.org/home/she-network/education/huge-title-ix-victory-today-in-quinnipiac-university-case The women's coaches of hockey, basketball, and volleyball are all paid above the median for all coaches at UND. I don't know their salaries, but would assume the soccer, softball, swimming, x-country, and track are paid less than the median (but some have both men's and women's responsibilities). One also has to take into account the assistants pay in all sports.

Montana State could progress as a real rival with some close games, but their haven't been any nail biters.

Anyone know how the fundraising is progressing for Phase II of the IPF?

Looks like UND offered Erin Huls of Rocori, who is a libero but also a 300 m hurdle champion and sprinter. She chose Minnesota for track. http://www.sctimes.com/story/sports/high-school/2014/11/04/prep-volleyball-rocori-preview/18491329/

Like this quote: "I honestly did not think I'd like (UND) when I visited", she said, "but the coach is great and I love hockey." Her original plans involved heading to an East Coast school because she didn't want to deal with cold weather, but UND surprised her. We need more power attackers and blockers! Welcome and congrats, Ashley.

Nice write up of the situation! UND needs to finish in the top three, so it will be outside of Idaho State bracket. ISU will be tough at home, but a hot 4 or 5 seed may be able to knock them off so the championship game would a at a neutral court.

Portland State Football - "must be fiscally self-sufficient"
SiouxVolley replied to The Sicatoka's topic in NCAA News
Indiana State actually talked about going FBS a couple of years ago. They either have to come up with the money for a new stadium or go non-scholarship football. They don't have to worry about getting evicted from the MVC though. Portland is horribly mismanaged in most of the University. There's infighting everywhere and not a cohesive plan anywhere. One of Kelley's buddies from the U of Ill system is President. Portland State already has a stadium in place, it just needs to get its act together. -

Montana has their new locker rooms and training center. Egriz says they will now have FBS caliber facilities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SykXfLAWY4&feature=youtu.be The $7 million dollar gift for the new champions center in the largest single gift in Griz history. UND has been blessed in comparison, http://www.greatfallstribune.com/story/news/local/2014/10/31/washington-family-gifting-m-um-athletics/18255053/

NDSU to move to FBS with an invite from the Sun Belch?
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
Looks like the UA trustees might force UAB to drop football. UAB doesn't have any non-conference games scheduled beyond 2016, when all their coaches contracts expire. UA trustees run the Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Huntsville campuses and they want more of the pie and students to go the Tuscaloosa. UAH hockey was almost dropped because the same political reasons. UA wants more of UAB's programs, as UAB actually has a name in the med field and a Med School. UAB is averaging 23k and is sixth in CUSA. If UAB drops football, they would be expelled from CUSA. Might get in the A10, but anything below that would be a big drop. The schools that might be licking their chops to get into CUSA are UMass (at least football), La-Lafayette, Georgia State, and FCS schools Mo St and JMU. If any of ULaLa, Ga St, or Ark St get an invite the Sun Belt need another school to get to 12. They are at 11 now, and will likely drop Idaho, and if they lose one school to CUSA they would need three. Eastern Kentucky is probably a shoe-in at this point. They sun Belt wanted Mo St and JMU, but those schools want CUSA rather than go to the Sun Belt. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/11/former_uab_football_players_co.html?hootPostID=4a472c9d6356aaae8af4fd696059fa50 https://www.scribd.com/fullscreen/245652295?access_key=key-5ECmEqrzIKzum0MvY1t1&allow_share=true&escape=false&view_mode=scroll -
Have you ever read Bisonville? They comment more on UND football than we do. The only way that a bison supporter would say a UND fan has class is if the UND fan says to bulldoze down UND's athletic facilities. The bison are like the jihadist in their world view, as they hold us with that much contempt They have to be beaten down to the dust in order to get any semblance of respect for us. A UND fan can never have class in their eyes.

Well I have. Just comparing the two programs is amazing: NDSU has six available schollies, and only has one known acceptance, a guard from Omaha that was receiving other offers from DIIs. Meanwhile, UND has three open scholarships and has six commitments. Girls want to play for UND, whereas there is no evidence that girls have any enthusiasm for NDSU..

Looks like another diesel plant is going up, this time in Stanley. http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/marketwire/1155691.htm One has been built in Dickinson, while others are planned in East Fairview, Trenton, and Devils Lake. Plus a new refinery is planned for Makoti and billions to construct new gas plants near Watford City. There's several oil companies that will cut back on drilling in 2015 until oil prices recover, so 2015 might be an ideal year for construction, as there may not be the demand for housing in the west that there was this year.
-
Look at the Wiki tab. All known offers and commitments are there. I think Asuncion, Hass, and Klabo will have scholarships next year and likely won't redshirt. Boike, Freije, and Morton probably redshirt but will have scholarships the second year, It maybe took those three, especially Freije, longer to decide as they didn't know how much financial aid they would get. If this is true, the staff deserves major kudos for having a good and deep recruiting year. Shows how much the girls want to play for this program. Meanwhile, NDSU is drowning in the recruiting pool, at least in ND. Their new coach doesn't help much to get girls for that "program".

Summit League could take over NCHC to survive?
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
NDSU will kill it when they go to the Big Sky. That's why the Slummit Presidents made the exit fee a cool $1mill. I'm sure the Slummit paid all exit and entrance fees for Oral Bob to join the Slummit. The Presidents knew that the Slummit was in trouble with not having enough baseball teams. Bisonville chose to conveniently ignore those facts and pretended everything was ok. If any of NDSU, SDSU, ORU. UNO, WIU, or IUPUI leaves, the Slummit would be facing the same disaster. Keep your head up your posterior as you bison fans always do. Only this time, UMKC won't save you because they don't have baseball. -
NDSU to move to FBS with an invite from the Sun Belch?
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
N Ill has likely been blocking Illinois St if the MAC wants to get back into Illinois. James Madison, Delaware, and Stony Brook are awfully enticing east coast school, so the MAC would go that direction instead of out in the plains. N Illinois and Cincinnati would provide a Midwest option to bridge the Iowa St and WVU gap with media markets. It might make more sense then UConn and UCF geographically. NDSU could win four, five, or six FCS championships in a row, but it won't change the conferences interested in them: Big Sky. If the Sun Belt can convince James Madison to join, it would have absolutely no interest in NDSU. -

Has Bisonville deleted the "Sh*t on UND" thread that had run for 6000 some replies? Even the SDSU thread also seems to have been deleted? Could it be that the new Bizon AD doesn't like the crap bizonville spews, and he had someone inform Tony that it wasn't welcome? Tony, who is a lapdog of the NDSU admin, would naturally comply. The UND thread doesn't seem to appear anymore. Wonder if the new NDSU AD wants to make peace with UND and the Big Sky? -

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/chi-niu-athletic-facilities-upgrade-20141030-story.html Northern Illinois is planning a expand their football stadium to 42,000 seats and build new baseball, basketball, tennis facilities. The Big 12 is their likely target, as all those facilities would be needed. With the proximity to Chicago, NIU would probably receive consideration from the Big 12 or maybe the American. NIU and Cincinnati could help bridge the gap between WVU and Iowa State for the Big12. NIU does not have a strong academic or research side, so they'd have to improve that to get Texas or Kansas approval. They'd also probably have to go more than 50,000 seats for football. There goes NDSU's slot in the Big12, which is the bison's next landing spot according to bizonville conventional wisdom. -
The closest Sioux tribe to UND, Spirit Lake, blessed it. The other Sioux tribe in ND, Standing Rock, opposed the name, although they supposedly sanctioned it with a peace pipe in 1968. Now, new leadership at Standing Rock wants to reinstate the name. But the NCAA won't listen to them now. Other tribes in the state, Chippewa and Mandan, Hidatsa, and Orikawa, all oppose, and are often the loudest voices.

If HHS and DOD would pay for testing and stockpiling Avianax's Ebola antibodies, that could be huge for GF. Such a move would prompt Wall Street to pump money into the company, giving it the option to pursue other immune challenges, including cancer. http://www.valleynewslive.com/story/27155894/grand-forks-company-team-with-government-on-ebola-cure

The Betty Needs a Video Board (or two)
SiouxVolley replied to niouxsiouxfan's topic in Men's Basketball
Like to see a Phil Jackson Arena on campus. Hyslop would have been turned into a Wellness Center if it wasn't for asbestos. Originally the Betty was only going to be a practice facility, volleyball, and for lesser games. That way the REA trust took away basketball as a source of revenue. A new football stadium on campus is the first priority once Phase II of the IPF gets built (other than a new locker room for men's hockey).
