  1. So Muslims are so incensed that nobody sits next to them on public transport that they have a right to chop off others heads? This certainly will enlighten people to sit next to each other. I get it know, finally we get to the root cause. Muslim.clerics spouting off about a jihad has nothing to with it. Got it. Wonder if those celebrities ever get on a bus?
  2. NDSU always says they beat out UND for recruits in everything. Just confirms you're part of the Bisonville groupthink.
  3. Looks like Stanley and Berthold will get diesel plants by Quantum Energy. They want to build on the Mt/ND border at Fairview too, as well as Baker, Mt. http://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/diesel-gas-stripping-plants-proposed/article_f54c889a-8188-11e4-8b75-2f27282a1fbb.html MDU wants to build one at Minot and another company has been announced one in Devils Lake. Highway 2 would have four plants across the state. A lot of construction next summer, plus the fertilizer plants in Jamestown and Grand Forks. That's nearly $5 billion in industrial construction to begin next year. Another $6 billion with the cracker plant and related ethane separation projects.
  4. A rumor this summer had the NHL adding four teams: Las Vegas, Seattle, Quebec, and a second Toronto team that would play in the west. The conferences would have even numbers, and the owner would divide at least $2 bill among them.
  5. I was high on Shay before last year, but his presence didn't help. Last year we seemed to have regressed. There were two absolutely atrocious games this year: against UTPA in Salt Lake and NDSU. A mediocre DI team should have won both. It would be interesting to know which asst coach did the planning for what game. They normally rotate, so one had Drake, one had Minnesota, and one had NDSU. I would bet the same asst coach had both UTPA and NDSU.
  6. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nhl-takes-first-step-towards-possible-expansion-team-in--unique-market--las-vegas-031915763-nhl.html Looks like the NHL will expand to Las Vegas if enough season tickets are sold to prove Vegas is a viable market.
  7. The UAB faculty seems to be incensed by its President and the UA board. It has brought a no confidence vote to the faculty senate. The UAB Faculty Athletic Representative didn't even know about the decision to shut down football until the morning of the announcement. There is talk that UAB will bring back football in a couple of years. https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/uab-faculty-senate-approves-draft-of--no-confidence--resolution-against-president-130518212.html A nice synopsis of why dropping football is a losing proposition for UAB and why WKU went FBS, when it claimed it was losing money in football. https://sports.vice.com/article/screw-the-math-uab-can-afford-football-so-why-is-it-choosing-otherwise?utm_vicesportstwitter From the csn cusa board on the events that transpired: - UAB starts football under Gene Bartow as a club program. - Somehow they sneaked it past the UT Board to get it DIII. - NCAA changes their rules so UAB has a legit reason to move to DI now. - UA Board is pissed, only Roll Tide can has da fusball! - Gene Bartow snitches on Roll Tide coaches for funny recruiting practices. Invokes da Bear's name in starting some of the funny recruiting. - Baby Bear who somehow is on the UT Board get's pissed. - Baby Bear says: NO STADIUM FOR YOU DRAGONS! ROLL TIDE! - Gene Bartow passes away. - Baby Bear and UT Board crew fire UAB Pro-football Pres. - Hires lacky from the med school to be new UAB Pres. - New UAB Pres. downgrades UAB Honors Program for no apparent reason. - New UAB Pres. commissions report to tell him its OK to can football like Baby Bear wants. - Football gets canned. - Baby Bear gets to retire getting his revenge against a dead man at the expense of UAB football fans, coaches, players and the City of Birmingham.
  8. Oasis Petroleum, which only has drilling in the Bakken, announced it will drop from 16 rigs drilling down too 6 by March. That would be 1000 jobs gone in Williston (Oasis drills in Willaims and McKenzie counties.) More cutbacks are likely to follow. The article says that Saudi Arabia wants to kill major oil projects mainly in Russia and Venezuela that need $80 - $90 oil to break even. Russia had been planning some major increases in production, but with the Ukraine crisis and sanctions against them, that no longer seems possible. Russia has been forced to sell a lot of its gold reserves to get cash. The ruble has been crashing and the Russian economy is in trouble. The article also says that shale oil will be in a winner in the long term, as American companies can easily start drilling again when prices return. On the contrary, no one will invest in megaprojects (tens of billions) where the Saudi's can open up a spigot and make it lose money. http://seekingalpha.com/article/2751165-is-this-the-end-of-the-shale-oil-bubble-or-the-beginning
  9. The intent would be to get educated workers to stay in ND. I don't think it would fly this session, especially the way oil prices are falling.
  10. Anne Richards blocked them when she was Governor, as she and the Lt Gov. and insisted the Baylor get in over Houston. Houston actually had a chance to join the SEC with A&M in 1993, but A&M went with the Big 12. The Big 12 would never accept Houston now, as four Texas teams is enough (the broadcast partners wouldn't go for it). Houston has to wait until Texas leaves the Big 12 to get a call, or Houston and SMU could go to the PAC12, which would be good Texas markets to get into for the PAC12 (and their broadcast partners would likely approve, but first the PAC12 needs to digest Colorado and Utah). Houston and SMU have enough academic and research components so they won't be blocked by Stanford and co, so other than Big 12 schools themselves, their the next possible PAc12 members (Boise St, BYU, and UNLV would be blocked).
  11. Yeah, there is so much animosity toward the Big Sky and UND in Fargo, it wouldn't bother Teammakers a bit to stay in FCS while the Big Sky schools (EWU, Griz, Cats, UND, etc) go FBS with Idaho.
  12. But you saw it. You see a lot of things in your a-hole.
  13. UND was rated #11 among mid-majors going into last nights game. Without Evers, UND will probably plummet if she stays out long. SDSU was 13th. http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/12008562/princeton-tigers-make-biggest-jump-mid-major-rankings
  14. http://www.vox.com/2014/12/11/7328019/north-dakota-fracking-money This website is reporting that NDSU and UND will only charge in-state tuition to all out of state students, if the legislature allows. Wouldn't it better to drastically reduce tuition for in-state students first. The website has been known to be wrong, as NDSU doesn't have 13 national DI championships. Its there total of all DII and DI going back forever. It also says NDSU is planning a growth spurt and will be hiring a bunch of faculty.
  15. Who wouldn't get along with that schmuck? Bielema didn't seem to have a ---- oh wait.
  16. Pelini will still make his $3 mill / yr courtesy of Nebraska and it doesn't cost YSU much. I bet YSU Pres Jim Tressel gets YSU in the Sun Belt and goes FBS. He has the coaching star power for that now.
  17. I think the American backfills with UTSA, or ODU, or NIU. Some American schools would be so pissed at those teams, that they might leave: like UConn to the Big East for BB and stick the FB with the MAC and UMass. SMU and Houston could go to the MWC, as they really want the PAC12 anyway if the PAC12 moves to Texas. If the MWC lost a team, it would look to Texas, with UTEP and someone else. TCU graduated with honors from the MWC, and they were the only Texas team.
  18. Another bison fan with an extremely short fuse and reading comprehension problems. Doesn't FU have anger management and remedial reading classes? There's got to be a high need.
  19. The numbers say BYU and the rumors say Memphis. FedEx is supposedly sponsoring the Big 12 CCG for Big Bucks in Memphis.
  20. Is Watford City co-oping with Sidney, Montana? That would bring up their numbers. There probably aren't too many hockey kids transferring in.
  21. An attempt to get Rutgers to start hockey?
  22. The Big 12 generates $220 million from their Tier 1 (and Tier 2 I think) contracts. The national contract would have to increase by $44 million if two teams are added, so the other schools don't get diluted. Texas has its own Longhorn Network (Tier 3) that pays only Texas like over $20 mill a year. The rest of the Big 12 want Texas to convert that to a Big 12 Network, with Texas still getting the bulk of it depending on cable and satellite revenue. The two new schools would have to add $44 mill to the national TV contracts. But keep in mind just adding a CCG nets almost $24 mill, so each school essentially has to add $10 mil in value. The American (UConn, Cincy, Memphis etc) only pays out $2 mill a team, so the hurdle for those schools can be met if their networks deem that P5 status elevates the value of Cincy or Memphis that much. The Big 12 could also negotiate a longer contract, but the big money schools probably wouldn't like that. Getting P5 status for a G5 school is like getting a major annuity. Utah, TCU, and Louisville can upgrade their facilities much more easily now.
  23. They tried to get BYU before WVU, but the Mormon church put up too many road blocks. Memphis isn't a research school. Colo St or even UCF have better academics. UNM might be under consideration.
  24. For a good belly laugh, go to Bville, where they think FU has a good shot of Big 12 membership. Their reasoning is that ISU and KSU would support a fellow.land grant and have their football respect! If only the state of ND would get behind them and build a new campus near Wayzata. The MVC won't look at them but the Big 12 would!
  25. What are the games this week? No FCS news at all where I'm at.
