  1. UND has got to get better hitting from the wings. Fraase, the recruit from Shanley, may fit like a glove. Thought Pioske would have a big year, but that really hasn't materialized yet. Just a note that attendance is over 1000/match for this year, and with the season entering playoff mode, the attendance should only increase. The Thursday night games were normally well under a 1000, so that's nice to see. Six UND sports average over 1000 a game. Not many Division I schools can say that.
  2. Congrats on the new indoor practice center at SDSU. Bisonville doesn't think its a big deal, but we've almost copied it. Isn't the job of bragging up SDSU normally reserved for 89rabbit. Why hasn't he been posting lately, as his status was the director of SDSU Alumni before he had to abruptly resign. Maybe he needed to attend to his wife who was in the Brookings county jail for credit card fraud of a SDSU booster. If you are an SDSU booster, you definitely need LifeLock if you donate to the Alumni Association.
  3. Maybe if Lockheed Martin has fusion in the bag as they claim with a revised tokamack reactor. But then the world will be beholden to Bolivia for lithium, China for rate earth metals, and Russia for platinum and palladium.
  4. I I wouldn't doubt that, as the Missouri River water is reliably there for cooling and steam generation. The Badlands company has opened a Bismarck office for dealing with permits and making procurements, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the immediate Bismarck area is where the plant will go. So many of plants are being constructed in Texas and Louisiana for export of polyethylene to Europe, Japan, and China, so this plant needs to be the cheapest producer for the Midwest. The Williston area has a 50% surcharge on building anything. If Williston didn't have such a high cost environment, it would be chosen. The Williston Basin producing so much nat gas, ethane, and propane, if this plant gets built and produces at lower cost, wouldn't be surprised if another one gets built, plus a polypropylene plant, plus a massive gas to liquids (GTL) plant that makes gasoline from nat gas, plus more fertilizer plants. Ohio and Pennsylvania are projected to produce so much nat gas that it will swamp other producers, so Illinois would find cheaper gas from Ohio and Pa. Already, about five LNG export terminals are planned, and nat gas pipelines that used to flow into the Northeast are changing directions to flow south and wes. In a couple years, ND will be awash in natural gas and states east and south of Minnesota will have cheaper sources. .
  5. The Stanton area has the best shot IMHO. Existing power plant, rail, commutable to Bismarck, nearby water source. Badlands NGLs will open an office is Bismarck. Polyethene production is exploding in the U.S. because ethane is so cheap. In Europe and East Asia, PE plants are closing because it's so much cheaper to import from the US, Qatar, or Saudi Arabia. The one thing GF has going for it is that it is closer to Midwest markets and ports like Duluth and Churhill.
  6. I would love if NDSU went to the Sun Belt over the Big Sky. Maybe hard core bison fans would like to play Appy St and Ga So, but most the casual fans would think WTF? Idaho is a lot better school.and has more resources than any of the Sun Belt schools. They just need a regional conference that their state can relate to. When NDSU finally comes to the realization that the Big Sky is best for it, the Big Sky should require Teammakers to write a two page essay on why it's the best fit for NDSU as a condition of getting in.
  7. There a company called Quantum Energy that hopes to build five plants in the Bakken for degassing the oil and stripping off diesel. Think the first was annouced for Baker Mt.
  8. Because cooling water will be critical, if Mandan doesn't have a spot Wilton, washburn, or Stanton could. Bismarck would still benefit. Many of the workers at the Beulah plant live in Bis-Man.
  9. Would think that Mandan next to the Tesoro Refiner would be that lead location. Has plenty of water and the new plant could link into Tesoro's utilities for some of the rest like demin water, instrument air, nitrogen etc. A cracker plant heats up ethane for milliseconds to 1500 F and then needs an immediate quench. A lot of cooling water is needed so that eliminates a lot of locations because they won't have much raw river water. Jamestown next to the new fertilizer plant has a lot of synergies, but probably not enough cooling capacity. The southern valley like Wahpeton and Fargo probably have the same problem, especially in a drought. What Grand Forks has going for it would be possible synergies on utilities with the new fertilizer plant, easy rail access to the industrial Midwest, a new water plant that could be designed to handle the increased flows to and from the river, and infrastructure. Also, there might be a propane line built to Mentor where there is caverns to store propane for the Minnesota winter, so an NGL line containing Ethane and propane could be processed in GF would have dual purposes. Think Mandan gets it, but Grand Forks could sneak in. The fertilizer people raved about the location, and there's a lot of alkali land out there that would be available. The plant would need two square miles, so it would be huge. Guessing it would produce a unit train of pellets day day, so transportation is a major consideration. The pipeline probable costs a million a mile, so that is a major negative.
  10. The rumors of a petrochemical complex in ND are true. Only it won't be along the Missouri near Williston. A new company, Badlands NGLs, will build a cracker plant and polymerization plant in central or eastern ND for a cost of $4 B. While the final site hasn't been selected, the only two sites in view of cooling water and railroads considerations would have to be along the Missouri near Bismarck and near the proposed ammonia plant in Grand Forks. Wherever this get built, the spin-off jobs are likely to be substantial, as molding plants often locate close to the source of polyethylene pellets. The plant would offer 500 full time jobs. An ethane pipeline would have to be built, and an ethane fractionation plant, also, near Williston. Pittsburgh fought with Ohio and West Virginia for a similar complex, with all of those states offering huge incentives to locate in each state. In the words of our VP, this is a big f@$()ing deal.
  11. It looks like it will be connected to Ryan Hall, so that would place it along University Ave, closer to the Information Technology Bldg and I-29. So much of the buildings for the College of Aerospace Sciences has been donated by non-alumni. Its rather amazing.
  12. Pranks like that are a huge deal when they enrage the American Indian Cultural Center. It would plan a protest march to Bresciani's house decrying the blatant racism where NDSU supporters still routinely yell "Sioux Suck S***" and would be broadcast everywhere, thereby embarrassing NDSU.
  13. Groundbreaking for the new $25 mill Robin Hall occurred on campus this weekend. Robin Hall will have a soaring glass tower, which will be the focal point of the west campus, and will be a UAS and aerospace research center. The main benefactors of the building, Si Robin and Mary Bazar, run a California based aerospace antenna company and are not alumni to my knowledge. Quite a gift. Here's a video: http://und.edu/features/2014/10/onward-and-upward.cfm Si Robin is quite an acclaimed inventor in the aerospace world and is from Quebec. http://airportjournals.com/19-the-inventor-si-robin/
  14. 25-18 , ISU wins 3-0 ISU really exploited the weakness in our wings this game. Dooley and Pioske were the only UND players that seemed to hit with accuracy. Every ISU player collected kills it seemed.
  15. 19-15 ISU.
  16. Battling back, 13-9 ISU.
  17. Griffin was in for a while. Its a route so far, 13-5 ISU in the third set. UND is completely off balance.
  18. Zietek and Kaczorowska are starting the third set.
  19. UND looks very disorganized. Idaho State seems to be able to hit at will. Four of their players are over .500 for hitting. Only Dooley and Pioske are at .300, everybody else, especially Moser, has had a poor game. ISU has had six aces, with two dropping in because our players misjudged their distance. We're hitting at an .062 clip, which says we aren't even in the game. '
  20. I would bet that they wanted the Betty Engelstad part covered with something like "NDSU Rulz, " the Sioux part would be left blank, the Center would be covered with the words "Suck S***". The police officially didn't know what it would say because they were planning separate sheets. That would have created a firestorm on campus, and UND would have been required to take down the Sioux part.
  21. The GVSU playoff games were like that too.
  22. You could here the crowd on broadcasts in the second half. In past years, the Alerus crowd was a quiet as church mice.
  23. Sure just some ADs are bitching about coming to GF on short notice. Just win so we're hosts weeks before and the issue goes away. ISU, NAU, and PSU can't afford to travel. They want a bus trip, but not to GF.
  24. Does anyone know about the upcoming girls BB classes? According the a NDpreps poster, it is impressive. In UND offering either Gabbie Bohl or Fallyn Freije? 2015s Gabbie Bohl (Bishop Ryan) - ranked 19th forward nationally Fallyn Freije (Lakota/Edmore) - last heard was at 6 D1 offers Jorydn Jossart (Bismarck Century) - committed to Marist College Lexi Klabo (Fargo Davies) - committed to the University of North Dakota Hannah Stewart (Bishop Ryan) - 95th in country - committed to Iowa 2016s Cassie Askvig (Minot) - significant D1 and D2 interest Sarah Jacobson (Fargo Shanley) - last heard at multiple D1 offers Rylee Nudell (Maple Valley) - last heard with a lot of D1 and D2 interest Jaye Two Bears (Shiloh Christian) - D1 interest, NDSU offer 2017s Ashley Davis (Turtle Mountain) - significant D1 and D2 interest Tylee Irwin (Wahpeton) - UND offer, may have more Macey Kvilvang (North Star) - about to completely blow up Akealy Moton (West Fargo) - signifcant D1 interest
  25. USD beat Colorado and Creighton, which are top 50 teams. After that, their rankings ballooned up. We on the other hand lost to NDSU, which is bad loss. I hope Dooley doesn't play much tonight or at all, as we need her to be rested against Idaho State. On back to back nights, especially with the travel, she didn't play to her standard last Saturday against Montana St. Not that Pocatello is that far Ogden, but it's at elevation so you don't recover so quickly.
