  1. When do Legacy, Sheyenne, and Watford City start their HS programs?
  2. Pig 10 Commissioner Delaney will happily take your donations, but you're probably already giving him $1 a month for the Big Ten Network and brainwash sessions beamed to your home.
  3. The Pig 10 has two or three teams that are legitimate P5 teams. The rest would give the G5 a run for their money.
  4. The only reason Baylor or TCU were left out is because they have no political power. Ohio State has ten times the fan base. The selection team is afraid of the political power of the Big Ten and Ohio State. The whole selection committee loses their jobs if the Pig 10 isn't satisfied. If Texas or Oklahoma were in the same situation as Baylor, they would have gotten in and Ohio State would have been rightly kicked to the curb. Ohio State is the only top six team with a bad home loss..
  5. Shanks may add another dimension that this team needs.
  6. N Colorado put up a good fight to Colorado, but lost 3-1. The PAC12 teams are normally very good. Colo will be tested by Colo St in the next round. Colo St is one of the few G5 programs that can give good P5 schools a run for the money and should be favored.
  7. A Chanticleer is a some type of chicken or gamecock. Coastal wants to emulate USCarolina.
  8. When the semester is over, Shanks should be eligible. I thought the NDSU game was later. Maybe it'll be the game against Marquette.
  9. His first game should be the FU game at Scheels.
  10. Bresciani might have to fire his driver to raise the exit fee to get out of the Slummit.
  11. That's a pretty big blow if true. Hardee recruited Pioske, so she was probably more comfortable last year. Best of luck to her whatever her plans are.
  12. Unlless Brookings grows into Sioux Falls, not a chance.
  13. The Betty is perfect for VB. Except it can use video boards too. Women's soccer has their offices there too. Maybe the women's hockey coaches need new offices. Or start synchronized skating as a competitive sport like Maimi has done.
  14. It just doesn't make sense that the REA hasn't shelled out some cash for video boards. Either the REA board is totally apathetic about the bball program (not likely, because the board has business sense) or something is coming down the pike for the Hyslop and the REA doesn't want to invest just for a year or twos use. This is just a hunch. but it's possible that a donation is in the works to remodel the Hyslop for basketball. Wait until after a new nickname is chosen after it is announced. Make it into a bowl environment with modern amenities like chair back seats and video boards. Once the other athletes are gone with the IPF, its empty. Even the athletic departments will probably be gone from the offices for better space such as video and study rooms. It could be a first class place again with the right plan. The asbestos might not even have to be removed. It could probably be done for less than $10 mil, maybe just a couple mil. Phil Jackson was an outspoken opponent of our old name, but still follows UND, even hockey. He used to make $24 mill a year as Laker coach and now makes like $10 mill as Knicks GM. He might be interested. It would be putting his pocketbook where his mouth is. If he's still Jeannie Buss's boyfriend, it wouldn't even dent her pockets. He does have 5 kids and more grandkids though.
  15. The media just has to make it an issue, otherwise Bresciani just maintains the status quo of all Chapman's perks. Guess next the Presidents Mayville St and Valley City St will demand not only planes, but a driver too.
  16. There was, but I don't see it in the Volleyball archives on UNDSports. Maybe its was in the general section.
  17. http://www.espn929.com/pages/20457311.php Rumors are that Cincinnati and Memphis will be offered spots in the Big 12. FedEx has some pretty big support behind Memphis and Cincinnati has always been thought of as a natural bridge to WVU as well as a high caliber research school. If this happens, the AAC would dip into CUSA or maybe the MAC (NIU, Toledo, or Akron could go there), Potentially three more spots in CUSA or MAC, so JMU and Mo St have to be pretty happy that they turned down the Sun Belt last years as they would be leadings contenders for CUSA or the MAC. UAB might be able to stay in CUSA as a non-football team, so CUSA has to balance UAB out with another non-football team, like Wichita State. So potentially, the MVC could be down to eight and would need to backfill from the Slummit, OVC, or Horizon. ORU, Belmont, Ill-Chi, UMKC, Valpo and Murray St would be the leading contenders for a MVC spot.
  18. Agree. Total attendance swamps the Griz and the majority of G5 FBS schools.
  19. People demand and expect a social experience that includes video boards at game events. If the Ralph didn't have them, ticket demand would probably go down by 30 percent. Younger people keep their eyes glued to video boards, not the game. We are losing succeeding generations because we don't have video boards in the Betty. A 6' x 6' board would go for like 25k mounted on a wall or ceiling, based on EBay prices. Get two boards. Can't understand why the Ralph directors won't go for that, unless they purposely want to undermine the Betty's sports: keeping hockey as the only social/video option for the younger crowd. If the Betty had boards, people would be willing to pay higher ticket prices just because it would be a better experience.
  20. Nearly all conferences don't schedule tournaments during Thanksgiving week. Some teams try to get non-conference opponents to keep fresh before the NCAA tournament. But mostly, college volleyball takes the week off, probably out of tradition.
  21. There is a story on Yahoo Finance that North Dakota oil is going for less than $50 / barrel. A lot of exploration companies are going to be really stretched, as they can't make interest payments on their debt if it stays low for a while. The capital expenditures are down 10-20 percent, but they might have to cut it much more. T Boone Pickens says oil will be back above $100/b in 18 months. In the meantime, refiners in the area (Tesoro, Koch, Cenex, and Exxon Mobil) are making a killing. The cheapest and best oil is in their backyard, but they can still charge substantially more than in Oklahoma or Texas, where gasoline is around $2.00 / gall with more expensive oil. The new diesel refineries in Dickinson, Minot, and Devils Lake will be printing money if the situation doesn't change.
  22. Northern Colorado drew Colorado in the first round. The winner plays Colo St/Denver with all games in Ft Collins. Colorado must be a seven seed, so Northern Colorado got placed as a 12th seed. But geography played a major role.
  23. Louisville also beat Kentucky. The king of the SEC East, Missouri, lost to Indiana. By the media's standards, they should be talking about how absolutely horrid the SEC East is. The SEC West is per perceived as strong because they beat up on the East, as did the ACC. But the media says the ACC is bad, but a middling ACC program dismantled Ohio State in Columbus.
  24. Bresciani is the mafia don of Fargo-Moorhead. No wonder the crime rate is rocketing.
  25. Interesting that Montana's athletic dept doesn't deny interest in FBS. The MWC would be financial suicide for the Griz though. Half of teams would have to leave the MWC before the Griz would get an offer. The financially and competitive choice is an FBS Big Sky.
