  1. Who would have thunk that baseball would have a signature win before football or basketball. Yeah, a good pitcher changes a game immensely, but so does a hot 3pt shooter, or a proficient QB.
  2. NDSU appears to have money issues even sponsoring football and basketball: The FOI request says that they only gave out 58 equivalent full schollies for football. They are allowed 63, but must have 57 to count for FBS teams. The BSA project is several million short. The FargoDome football office remodel still owes NDSU's general fund. Lt Gov Wrigley grants extra money to NDSU, probably as a favor to Morton who gave money for NDSU football scholarsips. Wrigley, if he's running for governor, wouldn't want to piss off Morton and his employer, Microsoft, as both could be key contributors for his election campaign. NDSU badly needs the money, in spite of what you hear from Bison trolls.
  3. Minot 2-1 ot
  4. Very true. Part time jobs were much more common. Extracurricular activities are often defined by how much the household makes. The West and Lake Agassiz and even the Wilder neighborhoods had professional types heading the households that recognized the importance of them and even sacrificed. That is the exception now, as Winships low esteem has taken hold. The Belmont and Lincoln (now Phoenix) feeder schools seemed to have more families with aspirations too, now it seems not so much. To be good, often times a lot of investment (camps etc) goes into it.
  5. Simle Middle will only go to Legacy. Horizon will only go to Century. Wachter will only go to BHS. Century has been historically smaller than BHS, although north and west areas are growing fast.
  6. Off topic, but some posters on bisonville want to intentionally lose their next bb game so their not in a bracket with resurgent IPFW in the Slummit tournament. Pure class there!
  7. Its a gopher tradition too, so not many people here have any empathy for them.
  8. With the new Legacy HS opening, the existing two Bismarck publics will lose 1/3 of their students. Even adding one girls team would seem difficult. A new boys team will sap the Bismarck teams strength too.
  9. Its been like that for a couple of years. Davies should be a new power, but it doesn't happen.
  10. http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/news/education/3683313-future-proofing-south-heart-public-school-board-discusses-options-growth Apparently, South Heart schools are in for quite a growth spurt, as developments just west of Dickinson are in that school district. Those planned developments could add 2800 students to the district within 10 years. South Heart schools would be around the size of Mandan if it happens. South Heart would probably suspend its coop with Belfield, which will see growth too. In the next ten years, a number of schools could qualify as Class A enrollments, especially where diesel refineries are coming in: Stanley, Berthold, and even the Alexander district. Tioga has a lot going on there with Hess. Killdeer will see more nat gas plants. Ray, New Town, and maybe even Crosby have seen spillover with significant job growth. Some of the districts around Minot are seeing big growth: DL-Burlington, Surrey, South Prairie, and Nedrose are all getting major housing developments. Watford City and Williston District 8 will probably be very large schools. Some really small districts like Parshall and Makoti-North Shore will grow a lot because of a diesel refinery between those small towns. There might be a time when a third class should be started with schools of 200-600, so Wahpeton, Valley City, Devils Lake and Belcourt don't have to be in with high schools several times larger..
  11. Of course we are a high end school in the Big Sky. Only Idaho has more research by ratings, and that's because Idaho is both the flagship and land grant in that state. UND is one of the few U's with a med school, law school, engineering, and has an aerospace school to boot. Idaho doesn't have a med school. Montana doesn't have a med school or engineering. MSU has engineering and ag but little else. Most of the other Big Sky schools are glorified teachers colleges, that have expanded over the last 50 years, but don't have key components of being a hgh end research school. Idaho put in their contract that the Big Sky had to have Mont, Mont St, and UND, otherwise they would have gotten an out card. Academic programs were a big reason for that.
  12. Many nay-sayers said the REA would never sell out too. If a philanthropic alumni wants to donate a stadium, would this board revolt? I think there's several that would join with the bison trolls, with the refrain that UND shouldn't move ahead as it would end in failure just like the REA.
  13. Notre Dame would never join the same conference with a school like Michigan and other blue-bloods like Illinois. The NCHC doesn't have nearly the academic pizazz for them, unless Arizona St joins. They have a soft spot for Michigan St, because they were also excluded from the Big 10 for a time and became de facto allies, and don't seem to have a problem with Purdue and Ohio St. Notre Dame fans never forget sleights. Its a wonder they joined the ACC because they hate Miami with a passion too.
  14. Quite the conspiracy theory by an NDSU fan. The NDSU Foundation and Alumni board has been in disarray for a year. Its board came up with a way to have athletic scholarships matched because its board was so f**** up that they couldn't do anything right. NDSU almost lost free money. Shame on them. NDSUs Foundation was so srewed up this year that nobody in their right mind would give money to that circus. Athletic scholarships were the only place getting money. Wrigley did a favor for NDSU because, otherwise they would have lost "free" money. DCZ was just clarifying that it wasn't illegal and UND could do the same in the future. The precedent has been set.
  15. Women's soccer and softball will be required sports in an FBS Big Sky. Baseball may be needed to get an autobid if Cal Poly and UC Davis come aboard. W hockey is one of the few sports that can yield a national championship and Olympians. It won't be dropped.
  16. DCZ knows way more about wealthy a!ums and what they will support than you or I. I trust her knowledge more than any one here. If she says we can't go FBS, we don't.
  17. So you should have been banned years ago. First good pt you've ever made.
  18. We have 21 sports. We only need 16 to be FBS.
  19. He brought up regional rivals, dumba**. Funny how how he didn't mention Davis, Poly, or Sac St either. All of them plus UND have much bigger budgets than Idaho.
  20. Full moons bring out the NDSU loons, that is for sure.
  21. Hopefully, a new stadium on campus will be a major part of that, financed by wealthy alumni. Plus there would be more money for TV, bowl contracts, P5 guarantees and later a very small piece of the huge CFP pot.
  22. What are MafiaMan, Goon, and Herd going to do after telling me I'm so full of it for months? They have heaping helpings of crow coming to them.
  23. Your writings have always taken UNDs official line. Why can't you accept that they only tell you what they want to hear, not the full truth? A White House Press Conference isn't about truth, but about spin. ADs and coaches do the exact same thing. If what I write so bothers you, dont read it. But instead you throw personal insults at me. I don't have any problems with you or Mafia Man, but you both can't seem to think outside the lines. I happen to like that kind of speculation, but some hate it.
  24. Oh yee of little faith. Next summer will be the announcement. You can apologize then. Now you can go back and sing Mafiaman's choir.
  25. Maybe my smugness is justified by you and Goon's blabbering.
