Just like the ACC walked away from ND, even though ND demanded its own gold plated contract. ND got its own contract and the ACC was very happy. The Big 12 offered the same deal. But I guess the NCHC is too proud to accept ND on its own terms. Maybe you should be out in a real business world before you prognosticate a verdict.
-
BC, BU, Notre Dame, and Miami were the EST zone teams that were originally approached by Denver and UND according to some blogs about the formation of the NCHC. Now your saying that was absolutely untrue? So no way was BC and BU approached according to your infinite wisdom? HE offered both Miami and ND in response. Miami flatly rejected it. Notre Dame has strategic reasons why it wants a P5 team it its hockey conference. The fact that ND took so long to chose says that they were doing everything possible to get another P5 team in the NCHC to make it more acceptable, maybe even talking with its ACC pals Pitt and Syracuse about starting hockey. Keep in mind, Notre Dame joined the ACC and kept its own football deal with then NBC in this time frame. There was reports that the Big 12 offered something similar. Of all the ACC teams, the relationship with BC and Miami (Fla) are probably the most strained for Notre Dame. BC targets the same Catholic loyalties in the NE. With ASU possibly coming aboard, it changes the whole rationale for choosing HE. Live with it.
-
Just to clarify, think the real targets were Notre Dame and BC when the NCHC formed. The press knew that Notre Dame was considering the NCHC, but the BC talks were under very tight wraps. Notre Dame wanted another P5 school for the NCHC, but couldn't get BC to move. So N Dame was practically forced to go to Hockey East in their view, with no P5 ally in the NCHC. WMU would have been added if ND was the only school in play, but it was only after the talks were officially broken off that WMU and SCSU were added The talk about Notre Dame demanding all these concessions as a reason that the NCHC broke off talks was just an excuse. The ACC gave all kinds of concessions to N Dame, and we're talking big bucks there. The NCHC will give Notre Dame all kinds of concessions as it will mean more money and publicity for everyone. Notre Dame and Arizona State is a win-win-win for all parties. Best of all it keeps ASU out of the hands of the Pig 10.
-
Notre Dame may be just the attraction needed for ASU to accept an NCHC offer. If ASU and more possible PAC 12 members wasn't out there, Notre Dame probably wouldn't have interest. The NCHC is playing its hand wisely.
-
The way Notre Dame thinks is they don't want to be the only P5 school in a conference. That's a big part of why they went with Hockey East and Boston College. With Arizona State coming onboard, ASU has a lot more name recognition than BC in mainstream sports, so Notre Dame is more attracted to the NCHC. Notre Dame probably gets to keep their NBC Sports deal, ASU gets on the PAC12 network, UND gets to keep the Fox Sports Atlantic/Central/Pacific spots and the whole conference gets a bigger profile and likely keeps the CBS Sport Network package or even an FS1 or FS2 package. What is there to lose? Maybe Notre Dame gets a rotating Frozen Faceoff in Chicago, or even add Denver and Phoenix to the rotation. If two P5 schools get added to the NCHC, its a big win for the existing NCHC schools. The NCHC would be viewed as big time outside the hockey world. It would make the conference much more appealing to Iowa State, Texas, Oklahoma, or Arizona if they wanted to add hockey. Notre Dame and USC in the same hockey conference? That would be very appealing to networks.

District 8 will probably build a middle school first that will house 7-12, and then build a HS later. Right now, District 8 would only have about 200 in HS, but if Willston keeps growing, the District would swell. None of this compares to West Fargo. After opening Sheyenne, enrollment projectioms are that WF will need a 3rd HS in a couple years. It may soon be the biggest school district in ND.
-
Williston District #8 has voted to transition from a K-8 school district to a K-12 one. District #8, which includes much of southern Williams County and even some of Williston's newer subdivions, will have a build a new HS rather than send their kids to WHS.

Doesn't South Wisconsin (Chi-town) and East Wisconsin (Michigan) count? It's good that we are emphasing Canada again. Just expand it way east and west.
-
With the internet of things getting going, pipeline companies need more sensors (thermal, hydrocarbon, etc) along their lines. They have flow measurements, but the intervals are too far and the precision isn't that good. Or just fly a UAV to continuously monitor. It may be well worth the cost, otherwise the public will demand that they shut down.
-
Section 3A should probably petition South Dakota to join their show! 6A includes Fergus, Alexandria, and lower enrollment St Cloud schools, so Breck-Wahp still doesn't have a shot. Breck-Wahp should get in Section 3A!
-
They think they have a better shot of actually making the State Tournament. The teams that they compete against would be blown out by Section 8A schools. Likely the lowest rated section in Minnesota.

The new civic center next to Watford City's new high school will be huge. There will be two rinks, one with plenty of seating, plus a big basketball venue, plus assorted other courts, and a work out area, and a meeting place. It will be a like a smaller Alerus with two rinks and a smaller Wellness Center attached. The new HS will have its own big gym too, plus a new football field.

The family must be devastated. So sad. Christian theology says we were made immortal, so death isn't something we're equipped to handle. May the family and friends find some peace in the promise that they will be reunited again.
-
The new convention center will not be finished in Watford til early 2016. So would suspect Watford would sponsor a HS varsity team then. Maybe Sidney, Mt can co-op with Watford. Sidney is like 40 miles away. When are the new high schools, Sheyenne and Legacy, going to have teams? Is Wahp-Breck satisfied with their Class A Minnesota pals. With hockey going full bore in Northwood, would they team up with Mayport to sponsor a team?

So the host schools keeps all ticket revenue and ESPN rights, but has to pay the other 7 teams $130k in total. Montana and Weber St made out like bandits the last few years. Not that it will happen, but under this system UND would not make any money if the Betty hosted. It would have to be in the Alerus for a greater capacity. None of this applies to the women's tournament, as Sac St can still host in the Nest. -
And they might have to dual host with the women too if our Sioux don't come away with it. The Sleep Train Center, whatever the name, is booked. It might be that a local community college has to host. UC Davis has a gym that would work, but Sac St would hate that.

Football went from 36 to 63. That is 27 more scholarships. WBB went from 12 to 15. WH added 18. If you drop WH, seems like football awards would have to be cut to DII levels. The Engelstad Foundation has been endowing a couple of women's hockey scholarships a year. Should be tell them to stop and ask them to take the endowments away.
-
Could he play buckets too?
-
It's just going to stratify programs more. Hockey players will still want DI even without a stipend. It could lead to leveling the playing field vs major juniors. Union doesn't even have scholarships, so how can they compete now?

It's on the zonville board. Second hand knowledge from the horse's mouth too. If it wasn't true, bison trolls would be all over this. This board is so heavily monitored by the bison, that they been given an honorary espionage certificate from Fruit Loops. -

Billings is analogous to Sioux Falls. Reno will be ho hum about the whole deal. Bismarck should have bid, but state tournaments probably nixed it. -

What's really funny is that NDSU is short like $3 mill on their remodel. Just rolling in deep doodoo there. Wait til the legislature digs into this. NDSU will have to have their athletes working jobs to pay for its lieing about the BSA money. Gene Tayors parting gift, as he didn't want to leave there without a major renovation under his belt. He learned a lot of lessons from the older boy Chapman. -
Some P5 schools play as affiliates in G5 or lower conferences, like the women's WCHA. They didn't want to be dictated by lower level schools. In the Big Sky, would expect Weber St for sure to offer stipends in BB. Their interested in competing with Utah State for players. It may be possible to only grant stipends to a select few on a team, but that can create hard feelings.

NDSU, Montana, and UCDavis?

The Alerus could have bid. The Betty is too small. But Big Sky fans would pay air fare to go to Grand Forks in March. Just don't see GF having a chance in a vote.
