  1. St Louis just announced a $160 mill renovation of Scottrade Center, including renovated concourses and a beet garden.
  2. Track and field and xcountry don't bring in many spectators either, but at least we have the HPC now and it doesn't require foreign athletes to be competitive. Would advocate men's lax, but Title IX and FBS would make that impossible. Women's lax may be possible. In this day and age of kids with their electronic devices, team sports are more important than ever.
  3. This won't happen, but it should. Right now the Big Sky requires men's and women's tennis. Men's tennis maxes out at 4.5 scholarships, while women's tennis maxes out at 8 scholarships. Both bring in zero revenue and require facilities that are not duplicated elsewhere. Furthermore, to have a good team, foreign players are almost required. So most of the Big Sky schools are bringing in foreign players to field tennis teams that nobody cares about anyway and that don't generate revenue. What is the sense of that? Contrast that with volleyball for beach volleyball women and court volleyball for men. Beach volleyball could be a facilities problem for some Big Sky schools, but men's court volleyball is not. Beach volleyball has reduced scholarships if a court team exists. Men's volleyball has a maximum of 4.5 scholarships. Both would bring in much more revenue and concessions than tennis. Both are winter to spring sports. Men's volleyball is HS sanctioned in almost 20 states. Canada is a big producer, as much of a men's team must be 6'6 or greater height. Loyola of Chicago and Ohio State were recent champions, so non California teams can break through and win. The only DI league to sponsor men's volleyball is the Big West, which just made it official by adding UC San Diego, which is going DI. Most DI men's volleyball schools are in a sport specific conference. Since DII doesn't sponsor it, DII teams play DI. Conference Carolinas sponsors it and gets players from all over, including Canada, Puerto Rico, Europe, Brazil, etc. It has a much more enthusiastic college crowd than tennis does. Previously mentioned beach volleyball elsewhere. The Big Sky has limited spectator sports, especially in the spring. Going all in on volleyball would be one way to remedy that situation. Recognize that this won't happen for years if at all, but it makes facilities, scholarship, and fan experience sense.
  4. So let see about Coastal Carolina. Joined the Sun Belt on September 1st, 2015. Will play as an FCS independent in fall of 2016, but will otherwise play a Sun Belt schedule. Will be a transitional FBS school in fall of 2017. After a second transitional season in 2018, there are eligible for a bowl after that season. Coastal has a smaller stadium, a much smaller endowment, and a smaller enrollmentioned the UND, but they can still go FBS. Their stadium will be expanded to 15k (original plans of 24k which was vetoed by the state.). The Big Sky move would for all its teams that want FBS will be just a year behind.
  5. The Big Sky Presidents meet next week in Ogden, Utah for their annual meeting. I expect some Big Sky talk about FBS to emerge out of the meeting. All Big Sky schools that want and can afford FBS needed to officially signal the WAC and swap positions with WAC non football teams by 2018. Some Big Sky schools will need stadium expansions to go FBS, like UND. Could be a momentous week for UND.
  6. USC was only a .500 team in both the PAC12 and OOC. They were a far cry from a rated power that preseason polls stated. Utah actually won the PAC12, even though they were a sub .500 team overall. They will be a four seed. The west or north will not host a regional this year, and only the southeast will host. College baseball seems to becoming very regional.
  7. UND has room for a pharmacy school right now. NDSU can have music therapy in exchange for pharmacy. Sounds like the legislature would agree.
  8. On top of the housing addition, Bresciani is asking for $81 million for a new Chemistry building and an addition to the Pharmacy hall. That isn't going to go down well with the legislature, as the Herald editorialized totad.
  9. So Jamestown just applied the the Great Plains Athletic Conference, another NAIA conference mainly in Nebraska and Iowa. Think this is about hockey, as the NAIA will sponsor hockey again by 2017-18. Schools in the GPAC that sponsor hockey are Midland NE and Dordt IA. A number of other NAIA schools in Indiona and Michigan are set to sponsor hockey. NAIA allows athletic scholarships, but in lesser %'s than DII. Jamestown needs relatively wealthy parents to afford tuition, so this might give Jamestown more in roads to suburban MSP. A pretty big move by Jamestown, as it is effectively severing it's relationship with the North Star conference, and Valley City St, Mayville St, and Dickinson St. A big blow to those institutions. Minot St maybe should have stayed an NAIA school, as it would probably dominate hockey there.
  10. The type of library the GF library board wants is more like what Billings has now. The non profit groups are big on free public spaces and meeting rooms and free cafe environments, especially for them. Something every library should have if the community does not have the service is capability of 3D printing. In the future, there may be a big push for libraries to have rental Google glasses or other 3D vision and gaming systems. Just like video and game rental now.
  11. The Big Sky and WAC meetings haven't been publicized enough to know when and where there are. Schafer was in Bismarck this week, so they must be in early June.
  12. Dude, get a spacesuit and someone with a brain to help you. Your body will explode like an Isis suicide bomber if you go out to deep space without a suit, like you have done on this thread and others. On the other hand, it smells like sausage guts, so you might like it.
  13. The trolls are warning us in this thread that FBS for us is all an illusion set forth by me. In the mean time, they are discussing a new Fargo built FBS stadium and attached arena to the Fargo dome that would get them into the Big 12. They deny that the Big12 dream is an illusion, but this thread is. If I used proper grammar and meaning, I was just trying to be nice and warn NDSU fans that an FBS WAC will form and eventually they might offer NDSU, if their fans survive the resultant Fargo-centered apocalypse of UND going to FBS first.
  14. Maybe 25% of my posts. Was trying to be nice and get you an invite to the Big Sky / WAC but you construe that as hate speech. The idea that UND has an option to go FBS sends you trolls into a tizzy.
  15. UMass, ODU, and Georgia St chose to accept FBS bids to other conferences. The NCAA does not allow the CAA to elevate itself to FBS unless it can get eight FBS teams to join. The WAC can already invite to FBS, even though it's not even now an FCS conference. The Sun Belt elevated itself to an FBS conference, as the NCAA allowed it at the time. Ten years later they outlawed similar circumstances, but they never too the WAC ability to make FBS schools. Wonder why? But bozoville always has said they would only settle for the MWC, so stick with that goal.
  16. Shemitah is just acknowledging and accepting the Heavenly Father's grace and everything will be fine. The stock market took a bad tumble starting last September as predicted by some rabbi's, like Jonathon Cahn, did it not. The trolls here are more like Al Queda, the Taliban, and Isis in words, but not deeds, than you will admit.
  17. In the very first post of this thread, asked bizon trolls to kindly not post in it, but to no avail. To many UND fans, the idea of going FBS is so foreign to them, that it is unthinkable. But bozoville has been talking and making plans for FBS for years. If UND fans do, that is somehow forbidden and breaks a sacrosanct pact among the selves, as only bizons should be allowed to talk like that. Bozoville will allow SDSU to talk FBS, but only if SDSU follows their lead. Bozoville will grant UND that it has hockey, which is a niche sport in Fargo and everywhere but Grand Forks and Canada. Adding hockey is also a taboo subject on bozoville. We have to be educated on bozoville's taboos, otherwise the inundation will continue. The Muslims have sharia law, and the bizons have bozo law to be compliant with.
  18. UC San Diego students voted more fees on themselves to go DI. So the Big West is now protected when UC Davis and Cal Poly move to the FBS WAC. Bakersfield will probably get an offer from the Big West too.
  19. Being informed and not being ego centric is not something that you would recognize. Fullerton was being compliant to set up Idaho's ruse. You probably take Hillary's statements at face value too.
  20. You bizon trolls are expecting me to predict the entire play by play for a game and give the exact score, not just predict the winner. Otherwise you say I'm incompetent. But you trolls can deny FBS status forever for the Big Sky, as that would be the only way you trolls wouldn't be seething. It was obvious the Big Sky and Fullerton wanted and expected to become FBS, but that is still denied by the trolls.
  21. www.d1baseball.com/at-the-ballpark/sioux-go-way-buffalo/ Appears Muckenhirn will get an SEC opportunity. Miles Lewis will get anew opportunity at Michigan Brett Harrison will continue playing at Memphis. Maybe NDSU or SDSU will pick up some players too.
  22. The Big SKY Presidents and AD's traditionally meet this week or next annually. I suspect the WAC brass might meet with them too. Considering that it has been confirmed that the WAC can still give FBS bids to FCS teams, the denial among bizon trolls to this fact is under believable. Big Sky teams will have first dibs on those slots, so Big Sky teams can go FBS, which was the premise of this thread.
  23. Oil has been pushing $49 / barrel this week. Would not be surprised if the Williston area is the new home to the multi-billion ethane cracker. The major ethane producer OneOK has been touting how ethane will be a big money maker on its presentations, and much of it would come from the Bakken. All the nat gas plants are in that area so an expensive long pipeline would not be necessary. All the housing would fill rapidly too. It's how oil towns like Edmonton and Calgary grew, as chemical complexes started providing serious long term employment without the ups and downs of oil.
  24. Iowa State hockey would have no TV contract, unlike Nothe Dame and UND, as none of them will get a slice of the B1G Network. Futhermore, Iowa State needs to stay in the good graces of UT and OU, and hockey doesn't do that unless UT and OU start it. A P5 school will only move hockey into another P5 conference if it's a major TV power that every one wants. Notre Dame moving hockey to the B1G was a power play, as it made the ACC nervous for the future. Iowa St on the other hand would make enemies down South, who would ask why aren't they putting more investment in fb.
  25. An FBS move would also remove much of the talk and sting of NDSU's five rings. They would become almost irrelevant, just as our DII ring was made irrelevant for them.
