  1. Base kids now go predominantly to GFC. But that didn't used to be the case. The rural kids at GFC when I was there were all in the GF school district boundary.
  2. I graduated from Central too, and there weren't any Manvel kids in my class to my knowledge, but they went to Oslo, which didnt coop with Warren at the time. Manvel has to have an agreement with W-A-O, as it has some Manvel kids. Those Manvel kids can now petition to go to another school, but only in ND.
  3. How do Manvel kids graduate from Warren-Alvarado-Oslo then, as they just did last year? Some Manvel kids might petition to go to HS in Grand Forks, but only agreements between districts will allow ND kids to go to Minn High Schools.
  4. What's so weird is the sequence of coaches corresponds with their years at UND. Maybe that means UND will go dancing this year.
  5. The Scheels Center badly needs wider aisles so the fat ass bizons can get to their seats without showing their asses to each other.
  6. Will freely admit I was wrong. So the LA Chargers are going to play in the 27k StubHub Center in Carson? USC's lease on the LA Coliseum only allows one NFL team and the Rose Bowl didn't want any NFL team.
  7. With the San Diego Chargers moving to LA, that means San Diego is the biggest city with only a single pro team. There is a lot of corporate dollars that wants more. Wouldn't be surprised if San Diego investors get serious about an NHL team. Just an new arena would need to be built, and San Diego could jump ahead of Seattle for an NHL team. Look for Spanos to rename the team as Southern California, rather than Los Angeles. An LA name would totally irk remaining San Diego fans, who can drive to the 2+ billion Inglewood Rams Stadium for games.
  8. Could Watford City co-op with Sidney, who also has a ND Jr Gold team? It would be a closer co-op situation than Bottineau-Rugby or DL-Cando and with a fine new rink. Co-ops in two states are allowed - i.e. Wahp-Breck or Fairmont-Campbell-Tintah or even Warren-Oslo-Manvel.
  9. http://www.midmajormadness.com/2017/1/10/14225332/western-athletic-conference-expansion-wac-utah-valley-matthew-holland-interview I expect UND will be one of the schools to move over to the WAC after the basketball season. UVU, Bakersfield, Seattle, and GCU will in turn move the Big Sky. The NCAA changed the rules expressly for the WAC to still allow it to invite teams to FBS. The rule change (NCAA DI Bylaw 20.4.2.1.1 ) was changed and implemented on 8/1/11, which was after the WAC lost most of its FBS teams. The change maintains the right of the WAC to still invite any school that in it to FBS. Formerly, an FBS conference that hadnt returned to FBS status after a grace period lost its right to invite its teams to FBS. Any FCS school in its region with FBS aspirations would be smart to change conference this spring, as it gives FBS potential to the school where few avenues existed before. If the playoffs move to eight or more as expected in the next contract, team payouts could balloon much higher than $1 mill per G5 team. As long as the WAC is again an FBS conference when the contract is again negotiated before 2025, it will be at the contract talks.
  10. That would be hard to believe. In the 70's, low enrollment schools such as Midway, Park River, and Cando fielded their own teams and played in the Durum conference with Bottineau and newby hockey school Jamestown.
  11. Fargo is just seeing a slight downturn in the economy, which hurts marginal businesses the most. A shakeout always occurs with any economic cycle. The stronger businesses survive. Since the 60's, Fargo has enjoyed sucking the life out of small town businesses, and more recently from other regional ND cities. That kind of economic transfer won't stop. Bismarck and Fargo have become the predominant destinations for retail and services and it will only get more pronounced barring some unique happening - like Williston coming into prominence with a Bakken II boom or Grand Forks getting thousands of jobs from the UAV industry.
  12. UND will announce the move to FBS on the same day you blow a major gasket. Strange how they can plan such an coincidental occasion. Kennedy will deny a move to FBS with a WAC move , but then a major donation will suddenly appear, and all the sudden it's on.
  13. Location. The spot near the State Mill doesn't get much traffic except semis. If they can get it for cheap, why not?
  14. An Idaho poster has confirmed that the Idaho AD is trying to get a WAC - Big Sky realignment to happen. Idaho's president is not standing in the way of such a move. As stated previously, the WAC is much more valuable conference than the Big Sky, MVFC, CAA etc, because it can grant FCS schools FBS status. Schools like Liberty would pay big money to the WAC to get FBS status.
  15. Sears and Kmart will be declaring bankruptcy soon, as Eddie Lambert has so mismanaged Sears Holdings from has Miami Beach island. Vendors don't want anything to do with Sears any more, cause eventually they won't get paid. Home of Economy should make a plan to buy and move to the Sears Columbia Mall location. Buy the KMART location and sell furniture there and Ag wares.
  16. There isn't an independent baseball team to take, except New York Tech. Some other DI team would have to leave their conference in order to free up their baseball to join. Chicago St is down to 2800 student for the spring semester. When Chicago St drops from DI, that will leave the WAC with 8 baseball teams, which is plenty. Baseball is the least of the WAC concerns.
  17. A DII school doesn't do the WAC any good for five years. Dixie St just moved to the RMAC and Cal Baptist still isn't eligible to move up. Existing DI schools would be much less risky for the WAC and FCS schools can go FBS when the WAC decides. The WAC would be an upgrade for any FCS who has FBS ambitions.
  18. UVU President Matthew Holland said during a bball game interview that the WAC will announce an expansion after the bball season.
  19. Like how bozoville and AGS were stating that there was no way the Frisco game would be sold out without SU fans. How did that work? Maybe booze sales were down, but the stadium was far from empty. Yeah, it the end zones weren't full because of construction, but they couldn't have been filled with SU fans anyway.
  20. Fleck's current salary is all paid by boosters. Supposedly, WMU has a couple billionaires that could give him a substantial raise. WMU is one of the MAC schools with high potential. Buffalo, NIU, and Toledo are probably the others. Mich St is pretty far away. Fleck can get a better job than Minnesota. He may get a higher salary from WMU and have big buyout, which will help WMU going forward.. Then, when he gets a new job, the new school will be on the hook for a big buyout. Fleck may just be using Minnesota. Correction: Fleck gets a 240k base salary from WMU, but donors pay 70% of his 800k salary.
  21. So you arguing that the Big Sky performance hasn't been pathetic this year? Take intelligence pills. So why doesn't UND play respectable DII teams like Augie, Mankato, Northern, or Moorhead? Again your need intelligence pills. Those teams have better coaching than we do.
  22. The best case scenario is UND wins the Big Sky tournament and a first round NCAA game in Dayton and he then gets hired by another MAC or Horizon school like XDSU coaches did and take him off our hands. Jones is far from a program builder or rallying point for fans. The Big Sky is rated almost last in conferences, and we are arguing about respectable? The Big Sky is barely more respectable than the SWAC and MEAC. If we played the top half of the NSIC, we'd be slaughtered, so we don't even schedule them.
  23. There are too many here that belive that nothing ever changes. When the only thing that is constant is change. Somehow even pointing out possible change is sinful behavior in some eyes. Merry Christmas and may you all be blessed as a result of coming changes in all lives.
  24. You yourself don't want PAC12 teams. The travel across four time zones will create tremendous friction. The only league with that kind of travel is the WCHA, which is full if friction. Are you going to deny that too?
  25. I plainly remember you chastising me as I said the Big Ten would form it's own hockey conference if given six teams. This was before Pegula and Penn State. How did that exactly work out for you? You pretend you know it all and you don't.
