  1. Think Kansas State has some very serious concerns upcoming. First is when is Snyder going to RETIRE? He's the only person that has kept KSU a fb power in the B12. Without him, they are a joke. If Taylor tries to get him to quit, Taylor could be out. Last I heard, Snyder could still have cancer problems and his contract is up this year. Secondly, if UT, OU, and KU ever get antsy, KSU might have to beg the AAC to take them, as KSU has the weakest poker hand in any P5 realignment. Wake Forest and maybe Washington St don't have great hands, but KSU might be forced to play them out.
  2. Gene Taylor was just hired as their AD. Wouldn't it be fun to wipe that smirk off his face?
  3. Holy Cross is upgrading women's hockey to scholarship as part of their drive to replace Notre Dame in HE. The players can transfer there and still be a team. UND fans have a bunch of Holy Cross jerseys, so the 209 fans can borrow them and still cheer them on.
  4. GCU actually is eligible for the first time next year, Dan Marlje is coach with his brother on the staff, and the Lopes average 6800 spectators per game. GCU seems to be making a name for itself in Phoenix.
  5. Here's a very excellent piece by Puck Swami at LetGoDU blog about how UND going to the B1G could destroy the NCHC. He says the Midwest schools will form their own league and DU would be left with CC, Ariz St, and the Alaska schools. Don't know that it would get that bad for DU, as Minnesota to Miami or Kalamazoo is still a flight. SCSU and Duluth may still insist on the Pio's. But if another PAC 12 school starts hockey, EST teams wouldn't want the NCHC. https://letsgodu.com/2017/03/23/puck-swami-pioneer-hockey-needs-to-win-ncaa-title-now/
  6. Casey Benson, the jr Oregon guard, is going to graduate and transfer. Didn't his dad play at Red River? Supposedly he'll transfer to GCU and play his final year there. Would have been nice to get him here.
  7. There are many more women that don't have any a option in ND about swimming than hockey. And WIH was almost 4 times the cost too. Where is the outcry over W (and M) swimming? With us staying in the Big Sky for another year, that took away MW tennis, w soccer, w golf, and seemingly softball as options for cutting. And the Slummit would have punished us too. Seems like MW swimming and WIH were always the focus with the timing of the conference change. We could have pushed a move to the Slummit earlier like Wichita St did, but for some reason Kennedy didn't. The Big Sky will say they needed time, but reality says they didn't and the BSC teams would have saved travel costs. How many states sponsor WIH and what is the level that boutique applies? Bison fans routinely call MIH a boutique sport. Where is the outrage at NDSU for that?
  8. It's obvious that you don't see or can't comprehend the scheduling difference between the Slummit and MVC. First the Slummit has nine schools, so a pure travel partner situation through out the season is impossible. Second, the Slummit often pairs a long away trips to minimize travel. Third, a team in the Slummit will play two road games consecutively with a day or two to save on travel. They dont fly home after every away game. The MVC schedules so nearly every weak a team gets a home game and one away. Travel is treated as a non-issue for scheduling for the MVC as they charter a plane or bus. NDSU under Gene Taylor and their recent presidents have done what they could to avoid and even harm UND. You seem to be ignorant of this. Matt Larsen seems to have more integrity than his predecessor, but that is far from not an endorsement. NDSU shouldnt be trusted from a UND perspective, but understand the love between the XDSUs. A Nashville report said that NDSU, and not USD or SDSU, was being evaluated. Merely repeating what a journalism source said that NDSU is a candidate, but the SD schools weren't on that list, seems to upset you. Take your crying points some where else.
  9. 1. Every MVC school gets almost $1 mill annually from dance payments. The Slummit about 30% of that. 2. The MVC has a contract with CBS that actually pays. The Slummit has nothing except the championship game on ESPN2. 3. Recruiting is better because a higher caliber athlete goes there compared to the Slummit. All these factors may dissipate though if no one takes up the slack.
  10. Wiki hasn't been updated. UMBC dropped both M&W Tennis after the 2015-16 year.
  11. Logic just isn't your strong point. I was wrong for non logical reasons. Stony Brook just dropped men's tennis a week ago, and S Illinois just dropped M&W Tennis and cut way back on M&W swimming. UND hasn't been the only one cutting. What it means though is the MVC isn't adding three teams with men's tennis. Drake and Ill St had no choice but to find another league for that sport. UALR just announced a feasibility study for FBS. Little Rock has a 50k stadium that they can use, as the Razorbacks rarely play there any more but used to quite often. UALR would need an FCS affiliation for a few years and then the Sun Belt has to give it FBS membership if it comes to be.
  12. Interesting that Drake and Illinois St announced today that they were moving their men's tennis programs from the MVC to the Slummit. That means they have thrown in the towel on an MVC mens tennis sponsorship next year. Only two other schools remain, S Illinois and affiliate Stony Brook. Wichita St also was one of them, but they left. Of the schools mentioned as possible new MVC members, only Murray St and NDSU don't have mens tennis programs. Milwaukee also doesn't have it. Valpo, Belmont, Omaha, NKU, SDSU, UMKC, ORU and UIC all have men's tennis. It would be a reasonable assumption that the new schools being evaluated don't have men's tennis. Think Murray St is the big favorite now and NDSU may be the backup choice.
  13. Penn State is probably just wanting a home regional. They want what Fargo gives us.
  14. The MVC schedules so it has a mid-week game and a weekend game, so travel partners aren't used for mbb. That effectively removes USD and SDSU as candidates, as they are in tiny places and only draw well on weekends when South Dakotans can travel and don't work. This isn't a Slummit or even an NCC type schedule we are talking about. Any South Dakota add isn't possible unless they agreed to play conference games in SF, which would backfire badly. Even UND can't be added as the MVC would demand the Ralph be used, and that wouldnt be possible.
  15. Arch Madness is a weekend tournament compared to a Monday and Tuesday in boring Sioux Falls. NDSU fans would show up for a weekend of drunkenness in a city that can walk to the venue.
  16. I added MSP exposure too. MSP is probably more important for Drake than Omaha. NDSU can help Crack it open more, whereas Omaha doesnt.
  17. Wichita St was proposed by Creighton, but nothing happened. Creighton made a big splash for the first new Big East tourney, as Creighton fans traveled in droves.
  18. Creighton owns Omaha for bball. ThE MVC learned it's lesson with Loyola. Taking a third rate team in a metro won't buy anything. NDSU is a third rate bb team, but in Fargo it's the Big time according to their fans. If Richman doesn't perform, his a** is out the door, as NDSU doesn't have a problem with canning non performers. The MVC likes that intolerance to mediocrity that NDSU fans have, and women's sports like bb and vb don't matter.* Omaha just lost its two bigs to transfers, so won't be up to even Slummit levels for a couple years at least. Murray St has traveling bball fans, at least in close range. St Louis will be half packed for their tournament games, which is a big deal for the MVC. Valpo fans will travel too, which will help nearby MVC teams. St Louis University is the obvious choice, but they don't see any upside in going. The MVC doesn't have any choices and is desperate IMHO, which is why NDSU is even being talked about. If Belmont decides to accept, the MVC could very well just stay at 10 and allet this talk is wasted.
  19. NDSU leaving would give us the right to do whatever we wanted without your bitching. You would have thought I would have been blocked years ago by you, but you waste time anyway.
  20. Seems like the MVFC taking UND was a way to get Murray St in seamlessly. I'm sure Murray St doesn't want to travel with fb to the Dakotas more than once a year, so the MVFC wanted informal divisions so that wouldn't happen. That was probably talked about well before Wichita St left. Getting in a new state opens up the whole state of Kentucky to a little MVC coverage. The Racers have FBS games against Louisville and Georgia coming up that pay well, so they wouldn't drop to non-scholarship or they lose out on those paydays. See Murray St as sort of mirror reflection of Southern Illinois-Carbondale. Both are rather small but have big bb followings and not so good fb. Murray St would be good for SIU, Evansville, and both ISU's, so they will get votes. Valpo would get Loyola, Bradley and both ISU's support as a drivable rival, so that leaves UNI, Drake, and Mo St to chime in. Think both Drake and UNI would want NDSU over Omaha or SDSU, as the bizon fb fans travel and it opens up the possibility of a MSP cable contract for the MVC. SDSU will need USD to move too, and that isn't acceptable to the MVC.
  21. That type add would be something the XDSU's could get behind. Add Idaho and EWU too.
  22. Think the XDSU's and W Ill will block that, because they want MVFC membership, not Summit fb. Only if the MVC fb teams actually pull out of the MVFC and start their own league would that happen. But that move forces the Slummit to sponsor baseball and men's soccer to keep their autobid.
  23. Murray State is a strong add in bb as they have won the OVC a lot and are a bb school. They weren't considered last time because they didn't want the MVFC to go with 11 fb, and weren't private. The MVC knew that Wichita St was making noise about leaving a year ago. By January, they probably knew that Tulsa's AD had made a site visit there on behalf of the AAC. Going to divisions means that the MVFC won't have to worry too much about the MVC east teams traveling to the Dakotas, saving money. The MVC will probably stick with 10 members. Belmont gets in if they want, but Valpo and Murray St otherwise. If the MVC goes 11 or 12, NDSU is suddenly more strongly in the picture. Agree that Denver would leave if GCU got a look, so don't know why that would even happen.
  24. Lindenwood spends enormously on athletics for a DII team. St Louis would be an ideal market to go with W Ill. But they might want the OVC as that was SIUE's choice too. And they have a fb team, and they could actually win in the OVC. If a Minn DII is invited, Concordia-St Paul might get interest if they drop fb to non scholarship. Mankato if they don't get into the NCHC.
  25. Texts can be deleted and are not subject to open records after they have been deleted.. I know as NDSU had no texts from Bresciani on a certain subject. It's simple to evade FOIA inquiries too, if a private phone or email is used, as Hillary tought us.
