  1. The MVC officials will visit Valpo and Murray St this week. No word on a possible 12th school. Eleven schools would make 20 conference games, which is what they might want.
  2. Southern Indiana just announced about a $50 mill improvement to its on-campus arena to be done in phases. They deny DI is in the plans, but the OVC could be threatening the MVC: losing Murray St will cause you us to add DI competition in your back yard. USI has many more grads than Evansville, but started later so it is newer. UND played USI for a DII women's bball championship.
  3. Redshirting would be a commitment. Kids now don't want a rs because that takes away flexibility to transfer. It seems like a different athlete world today, especially in mbb. The Slummit has lost a ton of players to transfers.
  4. The Republican governor and the Democrat House are at loggerheads over the deep debt. Both side have been so corrupt in the past, as both had governors that are now in prison. Meanwhile, the directionals are cutting programs and losing students because new ones won't enroll, making the crisis worse. Illinois's directional schools may not be able to afford DI going forward. Illinois kids enrolling out of state are at record levels and climbing when Illinois does not produce so many HS grads as before. Years of corruption and lack of honest government are taking a massive toll with no end in sight.
  5. There's a Slummit story that should be followed that can effect the OVC and MVC too. The bond status of the directional U's in Illinois have just been cut to junk status. That means E Ill, W Il, S Ill, N Ill, Governors St, and NE Ill are officially in a crisis mode. Illinois is in such debt that may have no choice but to close schools. Guess raising taxes to the highest Midwest levels drove so much business out that they are collecting even less. Illinois, Ill-Chi, and Illinois St are in much better shape because of endowments and research. There is even rumors circulating that some of the directionals will be closed after May 31st to save the others. W Ill and E Ill may be very vulnerable, as they have the lowest ratings other than Chicago St.
  6. Here a basketball bio of Murray St: 29 straight winning years 15 dance appearances 2 dance wins in past 10 years, Colo St and Vandy Recent coaches that used Murray St as a stepping stone: Mark Gottfried - went on to coach Alabama and NC State Mick Cronin - now at Cincy Billy Kennedy - now at Texas A&M Steve Prohm- now at Iowa St Murray St has had brilliant coaching hires over the past 20 years. Murray St has a small endowment compared to us and has a smaller enrollment. Why can't we be a program that can attract stellar young coaches and athletes?
  7. Mankato and Green Bay. Don't need two DII move ups.
  8. So IPFW changes name to PUFW next summer. Maybe the Slummit changes its name to something memorable like the Pepe LePew Conference?
  9. If the Olympian story keeps getting pushed, how about if S Korea and/or China offered to pay UND as its training site for developing their women's Olympics team and nearly all their teams were grads of the program. The Twins and others would still rip on UND because it wasn't offering Americans girls a spot. But that's the only way for the program to possibly bring in some significant dollars.
  10. Some tweets that Valpo and UW-Milwaukee will be the 11th and 12th teams for the MVC. If that's the case, NDSU is out and it would be apparent that the MVC doesn't value football for its future. But the Slummit could still be a problem, as the Horizon would need to backfill with two more. Please let it be the IP soup schools or WIU. Could Green Bay be a future Summit school? They had had mostly strong programs.
  11. The Miami Beach Bowl will be moved to Frisco, TX. Just saying.
  12. This troll and Southpaw are like Snowflakes on campus. They don't like what you say and they want a safe place without others like me, so they want me banned instead of putting me on ignore. The world owes them a safe place. Pussified world and these posters are a reason for it.
  13. Post them just for you because it's apparent your little bug brain can't comprehend them. Maybe you will eventually. Or you can put me on ignore, but you are too stubborn for that.
  14. There doesn't appear to be a baseball team available but maybe No Colo can be coaxed from the WAC for that sport. If two soccer teams leave too we would be up a Creek. Mens soccer could get MAC schools now, as Buffalo has dropped it and they have only five now. Akron and WVU teams are powers, as is Denver. Baseball needs to lose only one. UND and USD could restart non scholarship teams on very low budgets. But that creates T IX problems. But the best long term solution is to have Summit fb by inviting the Montanas etc, and not worry about baseball and men's soccer numbers. Fb conferences only have to sponsor mens bb and no other team sports. Or else fold the hockey NCHC into the Summit and use that instead of baseball. A conference mix of fb and non fb teams is simply a bad recipe, as a conference doesn't have numbers to protect itself long term.
  15. NdSU mbb just took a big step back by losing Khy Khabbelish (sp). Their superiority complex was just hit with news that the MVC sees more value in Murray St than them, even for fb. The bizons are going to have to dig deep to put up with all the rejection. Can't believe both the OVC and MVC fb schedules will be adjusted this fall. Like I said earlier, Valpo to MVC this fall. Murray St and NDSU to MVC in 2018. UND, Denver, Omaha, Montanas, Idaho, EWU, and UNC to WAC looks more and more possible with NMSU and UMKC. The Big Sky and WAC far west teams realign together. The SD schools would be jumping for joy with the new Slummit.
  16. Murray St's Regents have a special called meeting tomorrow. The MVC might be calling.
  17. When UND finally joins, will agree.
  18. When bison fans stop calling the Big Sky the Big Fluffy, the Slummit will become the Summit. Seems to me and history, most everyone except SD schools want to get out of the Slummit, so that name seems to reflect the neighborhood better. Face it, the Slummit is a low rent district. SD fans deny that but it's true.
  19. Rather silent media out there, but still more mb rumblings of Valpo and Murray St. Wouldn't surprise me if Valpo gets added this year, as it doesn't need to change its fb schedule. Murray St would have more problems switching for fb, as the OVC schedule would be a mess, so they might get an extra year to move. If the MVC goes to 11, that means it's quite likely that a 12th team gets in too. NDSU may then be a very slight favorite and scoot out of the Slummit before UND gets in.
  20. More broadly, when is the exaltation of victimhood going to stop? That's what today's Humanities professors have been exclaiming for years with their cultural Marxism religion they borrowed from the U of Stuttgart. WIH players still have ample opps in the Marxist / femiNazi bastion that is Minnesota. Next they will demand a pro league paid for by taxpayers. It's those Stuttgart scholars who started the nonsense that only people in the majority groups (i.E. Male, white, Christian) can be racist because they were born privileged. Now whole universities have staff full of that nonsense. Women, Muslims, and people of any shade of color can't be racist because they are not members of a privileged class. So WIH is without question a victim of racist and gender privilege according to them. Someone that claims it is transsexual or Islamic has to be right because they were so underprivileged and always had aggressions against them.
  21. There has been rumors that Gonzaga is talking with the MWC. After Wichita St left for the AAC, the power conferences seem to be even more concentrated. The WCC doesn't have much beyond the Zags and BYU, and move could assure the Zags a higher level permanently in a league that would seem to have better prospects of at least two bids. Seems that the Big East isn't against St Louis, but can't agree on the 12th team. If they can get UCONN to park it's fb somewhere else, there could be a deal.
  22. Wow. That's surprising. The Idaho Statesman said they intend to pursue baseball in Boise'state new minor league stadium. Always thought Boise would be a perfect place for college hockey, if there was a true western conference.
  23. Gonzaga has apparently blackballed Seattle, who haven't done anything anyway. Gonzaga looks at the city of Seattle as its territory. St Louis rose and fell based on Majerus. On TV markets alone, St Louis should have gotten in over Creighton, but Majerus's health had been an issue even at Utah.
  24. If the MVC could get Dayton and St Louis, it could get stronger. But those two wannabe-Big East schools won't lower themselves to the MVC. Besides, the A10 gives 75% of each dance victory credits to be the team that won it, which is unusual. Thats a massive incentive to stay and improve the programs. Dayton would lose a ton moving unless for the Big East. Xavier doesn't want Dayton, and the eastern Big East schools want at least one more east coast school, like UCONN or Richmond or Davidson or even BU if it somehow got serious about bball. See the Horizon actually getting stronger in bball, NKU was an upgrade over Loyola, the Slummit taking on and in fb, and the MVC becoming private orientated. Detroit, Belmont, Denver, Valpo and ORU are probably the best the MVC can hope for.
  25. Places like Boise, Spokane, San Diego, Austin, Anaheim, Tulsa etc get regionals, as they have many flights and hotel options. Regional finals often go to domed stadiums. US Bank Stadium would have been a better choice.
