So, ORU and Omaha could go the the WAC and form a true central division with NMSU, UTRGV, and UMKC. That's a relatively strong or at least improving basketball conference. WIU goes to the OVC filling in for Murray and rejoins EIU . IPFW and IUPUI go to the Horizon The WAC is still far flung, but better. The other schools are happier.
-
Dixie St has made noise about moving up from DII in the past. They have a nice stadium and arena and have just upgraded them. UTRGV wants to start fb, so they could join it fb only. Azusa Pacific is one year behind Cal Baptist and they have good facilities too. Weber St has shown more athletically than N Colo, but they would be much harder to draw out.

Academically, the Presidents of flagship schools will be thrilled if they had a chance to make their own conference. The Montanas are weary of the commuter schools right now.
-
And the Big Sky has enough schools that if the Slummit adds the Montanas, Idaho and EWU, everyone survives. And we get a flagship conference without commuter schools. That's absolutely the best case ever.
-
The choice becomes either stay as independents, go west, add DIIs, or go DII. The Big 12 isn't going to offer them. If we want to stay DI, the Big Sky may be our only choice.
-
UND can always stay in the Sky. The others Dakotas may have to backfill with Kato, St Cloud and Duluth unless they repent of their anti-western ways.
-
ORU would be P.O.ed too.
-
Bring in the Montanas and Idaho and have a flagship league.
-
WIU must be looking at the OVC now as they know they could end up on an island.
-
There's reason to believe that UMKC left the Slummit because playing the Dakotas didn't seem big time enough. They did want KC fans to think they had gone DII.
-
If Omaha is gone, the Slummit is screwed. Montanas and Idaho we need you now. If Milwaukee goes, both IP's could be gone. The Dakotas are truly isolated. We need the Montanas, Idaho and EWU to bookend our conference.

There's two new DIII hockey leagues starting up next year. They will be mostly Penn-NY schools: the United Collegiate Hockey Conference and the Middle Atlantic Conference. http://icehockey.wikia.com/wiki/United_Collegiate_Hockey_Conference Follow the link for the Middle Atlantic Conference.

UW-River Falls became the first public U in Wisconsin to add women's lacrosse last week.

I excluded the XDSU's because their fans were convinced that the MVC had their backs, which was so deluded thinking that it was comical and deemed themselves so superior to us. UND has friends in Omaha and Denver and in the northern Big Sky. It can be a key driver and glue for this conference.

San Diego St student reps voted 14-12 to keep the Aztec name. Ten dissenters resigned their positions in protest against the evil rascist name.
-
Oh, sorry. The co-op is the Spartans.
-
This is our future conference unless we are adding Mankato and Lindenwood to the Slummit. Think grander than that. That WAC seems to be in our genes and is what a DI strategy was all about. The Montanas are realizing that the Big Sky is just mostly wannabe DI's that are effectly DII's, just like WIU and the IPsoups. The XDSU's are realizing that their are pawns to the MVC, when I'll even admit that they are above them. The XDSU lust for the MVC is like a supermodel crush, where the supermodel only looks at wallet size and crushes them when their sizes don't match her ego.
-
This was very similar to what I suggested but was lambasted for. But it's still a good idea.
-
Valpo will stay Pioneer, but that affiliation makes them a well-known commodity inside the MVC's office, which is the Pioneer's office too. Personal relationships matter.
-
Actually can see the MVC going to 11 and then dropping back to 10, as Mo St is now screwed. They might just leave for the Sun Belt anyway. The MVC doesn't appear to be accommodating them and then attempting to keep them happy as they did with Wichita St, as ORU and UMKC got site visits to appease the Shockers.
-
What you called it.
-
Can't imagine the OVC will let them stay for fb. The MVFC probably goes with divisions for scheduling purposes. At some pt what is the pt of the Slummit having fb in the MVFC? Invite the Montanas, Idaho and EWU and have our own all sports league, getting rid of WIU and the IP-soups.
-
Only Creighton and Wichita St this decade. Loyola is the only "new" team. UNI, Mo St, WIU, EIU, Green Bay, Valpo, Cleveland St, and Ill-Chicago started the Midcontinent Conference nearly 40 years ago, and most of those schools have long joined the MVC or Horizon. The ND schools wanted to join up with UNI, but were rebuffed by the others.
-
The MVC probably only goes to 10 next year, and then 11 the following. The 12th could be bid out in subsequent years as to who is doing the best and has money.

Hope-Page coops with Finley-Sharon. Finley is where the HS is. Clifford-Galesburg became part of the Mayport school district, which is now officially Mayville Portland CG.
