I like the comment: "If by Bull Moose you mean Teddy Roosevelt, the whole population of Bison would lose."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_college_team_nicknames_in_the_United_States Do a search for "Moose" and there NO results! Talk about unique. As for the Manitoba Moose, few college sports fans are going to say "Hey, there's already a moose nickname used in that area!"

To me, ultimately, time of possession would be biggest factor. Can we be offensively effective enough to possess the ball for 4+ minutes, and keep our defense, especially the run defense players, fresh. This was often our Achilles heal with Rudy as OC. Even if it doesn't end with points every time, because it won't, flipping the field will be an asset. God, I sound like Bubba! But, if we have the ball for that long, that means we're getting first downs and marching down the field. Some of those drives are going to results in points, probably through the air. If we can get our passing game established enough to be able to do a little running, I would consider that a success. And, oh yeah, outscoring their offense

I agree with this assessment. I believe our corners and safeties are capable of stymieing the passing game. But I also think the DL will be outmatched, so ultimately the linebackers are going to be the make or break position group.

I have no inside information, but I have a feeling Holm will play.

It would be cool if Mike Mooney was a special guest at practice this week.

I feel bad for Nate, but I also feel that if Nate was #1 on the QB depth chart, Zimmerman was 1a. I am completely comfortable with a Zimmerman led offense. Let’s go get it done, boys!

Win next week, and there will be 12,000 at the next game after that.

Volleyball also won today 3-1 over Louisiana-Monroe.

I did not see any of it, so I cannot comment.

UND drops the first game of the season 3-1 to New Orleans.
-
I do think Danny will rub off on Bubba a little bit, and we will see at least a Bubba 1.5, maybe 2.0 by mid-late season if Danny is successful.
-
Too bad we give up a safety. We should be better than that.

UND 42 - Drake 20 UND will score 6 TDs, but never get the opportunity to try a FG attempt, b/c the offense is just too good at reaching the end zone. Drake will score 3 TDs, one of which will be on suspect UND defense, but miss 1 PAT.

Yeah, not trying to say we’re going 9-2 this year.
-
Someone pointed out that, last season, if our offense had scored just one more touchdown per game, our record would have been 9-2. With the way the players seem to be responding to the new (Danny Freund's) offense (which is the focus of the majority of this video), stating that it's simpler, etc., I can't help but think how handicapped we were was under the old (Paul Rudolph's) offense. I expect this season that we will score at least that extra touchdown per game, probably more. So excited to see this in game action.

Scheduling a football game against Air Force would be an awesome idea. In fact, we should try to schedule Air Force in as many sports as possible, imo. Maybe a UND home hockey series for an Air Force home football game is a good trade?

I have a hard time believing 6th in the Summit is what any UND player, coach, or fan has in mind. Let's reach the top of the Summit, girls!

Was Freund featured at all in this?

I agree. This season poses a good opportunity to do it, too. Might as well take advantage. If UND goes 10-1 with that one loss to NDSU, NDSU will probably be 10-1 or 11-0, so we haven't gained in the effort to turn the tide. Just beat 'em, and let the rest of the chips fall as they may. Here's a question that I've been thinking about for a while - who has more pressure to win the UND/NDSU game? Us or them?
