I hope we are better than 6-5.

This latest development has me nervous on defense. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.
-
It’s only 2 hours from Bismarck to Beach, so Kab’s math adds up.
-
Absolutely! Recruiting Canada, specifically southern Manitoba (ie Winnipeg) to attract and maintain a Canadian fan base should be part of UND football’s M.O. season in and season out. A Blue Bombers fan’s favorite college FB team should be UND.
-
That will always be a problem in Grand Forks. Canadian traffic gave the GF restaurant scene a big shot in the arm in the early part of the decade, but that dose of meds has worn off. It doesn't help that Grand Forks' summer population takes a hit, especially on weekends. Hard to invest in with that kind of fluctuation.
-
Agreed. Canadian kids have to be a recruitment tool we use to our advantage.

Very sad for me. She was my favorite player. I think Pryor effed up when he took the libero position away from her. Perhaps that's the reason she decided to move on.
-
HPC II would go the furthest, IMO.

Looks like all of the Summit League games have been scheduled. https://fightinghawks.com/schedule.aspx?path=wvball Really miss Big Sky conference scheduling.
-
Hey, you're catching on! Glad you finally see it.
-
I predict our score with NDSU will be much closer than 40-7. I think our chances of winning that game are a lot higher than 1%. I see a lot of potential next season.
-
I hope so, or else we hired the wrong guy.
-
Yes, my thoughts exactly. All of the Canadian prairie region (not just Winnipeg, but all of Manitoba and Saskatchewan) should be recruiting territory for all sports, just like it had been for hockey.
-
Not being in the pre-season Top 25 should help two-fold: Opponents will be unsuspecting, and players should have extra motivation. I predict we will be a playoff team this year.
-
The fact that he had communication with Phil Jackson sort of blows my mind! Wow! And kudos for having Gunther and Glas involved too.
-
Conference scheduling, BTW, is an area that I think UND needs to flex its muscle in. No need to have a Sunday afternoon VB game. Probably other examples, too.
-
I didn't attend a BB game last year, so remind me about their scheduling. (I know VB wasn't consistent like the Big Sky. I loved the Big Sky VB schedule).
-
In that case, Sather must have really blown 'em away.
-
The fact that he wasn't listed as a finalist must mean that he wasn't interested. I'm fine with that - I don't want someone who doesn't want to be here.
-
I'm not saying hiring a guy without ties is wrong, but it was a preferred qualification, and they had guys named as finalists that met that qualification. I guess the best take on it is that even despite not having those preferred ties, Sather blew them away. I'm ready to be blown away, too.

My fascination (which has been documented throughout this thread) are several fold: Yes, he's a ND HS star from 20 years ago, BUT, his connections to the college BB holy grail would be second to none: Played under Roy Williams, one of college basketball's elite coaches; played at Kansas, one of college basketball's elite programs, played in the NCAA final four; was the reason Kansas played in Grand Forks in 2001 - could potentially bring a recurring matchup with Kansas again; could potentially bring a matchup with North Carolina, where Roy Williams currently coaches, also one of college basketball's elite programs. College basketball is the way that small colleges make names for themselves, and having connections to that kind of royalty can't hurt.

What are his ties to North Dakota and/or UND? I don't see any listed on his NSU bio page. Interesting if he is chosen over the other two that do have ties.
-
I had this very same thought yesterday. I imagine the conversation when Pryor hired Tiffin went something like this: "Jeremiah, I've got a good thing going up here in North Dakota, but I can't take the winters. Since you're from the great white north, I want to bring you on as assistant, and then I'm gonna look for opportunities in Texas, resign at UND, and you should have a good shot at the HC job."
-
So at least the weather won't be a surprise. Hopefully we can tap into some Canadian recruiting talent, too!

For The entire time when he was head coach, I had season tickets and walked right by the parking spot reserved for the head volleyball coach on my way into the Betty. It wasn’t that hard to keep track of.
