  1. True....my point is that as a recruiter....it would be tough to pass up on high recruits to look at older kids. Anyway....I have hendo's stick from milwaukee.
  2. I don't mean to be a d..k, however, in my mind there have been 9 coaches who have had more success in each one of those years....by actually taking home a national championship. But you are correct if you are happy about making it to the tournament and being one of the top programs in the country year in and year out.....which we definitely are. I am somewhere in the middle. I spit out all the facts about Hakstol's success to my goofer buddies all the time. But at the same time....it's been a long time since we've won one. I don't want to end up like Michigan.....having all our natty's being 50 years old or more.
  3. I don't care what anyone anyone says.....you get to the frozen four 5 times in 7 years (or whatever it was) you should win at least once. The fact we got there so much speaks a lot about the types of players we bring in, however, it is all about how you play in those big games. Many times UND has laid eggs, however, sometimes we simply got unlucky (Michigan game). Either way, they have to find a way to play in those big games. After awhile you cannot blame the players because they are making it far every year....what is the excuse after the 4th loss, or the 5th? I am simply playing devil's advocate here.
  4. Me neither....each year I thought "this is the year". It's odd we didn't get lucky any of those years. I was spoiled.....the first two frozen fours I went to the Sioux won it all. Ever since it has been heartache. You know, I think it's worse given the fact we made it so close those years. Had we not made it, it probably wouldn't hurt as bad.
  5. You know exactly what I mean.....you go to the bar enough times you should get lucky at least once in awhile. I don't care how ugly your are.
  6. haha....I think everyone is at leasy slightly frustrated that we haven't gotten lucky in the NCAAs given the number of times we have been up to bat...however I simply wear my emations on my sleeve.
  7. That's what makes me nervous too.
  8. Yes, but we are a different type of program than those you mentioned. Those other schools could never pull in blue chip recruits. From Hak's perspeective, it's tough to turn away from a great talent to find that stud overager (4 year) player. Many people seem to search for the blue chip (early draft picks) that flop, however there are many more overage (undrafted) players that absolutely amount to nothing...and it isn't even close. Again, the reason we are consistently good is because we have better players than our opposition (on average). Union, Q and Yale simply hit the cards right on some overage players, these teams could be an afterthought next year, whereas, UND won't they will still be a good hockey team. You are showing one example. When comparing UND to those teams you mentioned, the success isn't even close, besides last year's success of Yale. Yale is also losing their best player after this year, they may have a rough going next year.
  9. If you actually look at what is being said...I believe there are only about 1-3 (maybe) posters who actually want the guy fired (and one of them is a full blown troll). The others are simply frustrated with the lack of NCAA tournament success in the past 10 or so years. I'm guessing as soon as everyone throws in the towel, that's when we'll surprise everyone.
  10. Haha same thing happened to me too. I defintely paid a premium on that package....and right when we lost the market price of all tickets in the tourney tanked! I couldn't even get rid of my championship tix for $20/ea. I guess it doesn't always work....however it never failed me at the final 5. I used to always wait until the Goofs lost (or wouldn't make it)....one year (UND vs DU) I picked up awesome tix for $10/ea. My thinking is that it won't be too hard to find tickets, especially if UMD doesn't make it. SCSU doesn't travel that great. It will only be Sioux fans...easy (knock on wood). Edit: However I live in the TC so it's a little different for me.
  11. It is cheaper....I wait like 3 minutes before puck drop and always get good seats.
  12. The Finisher at Grab a Finisher at the Press and you'll be good.
  13. I am 29. I would like more natty's and I am demanding at least one before my time comes and goes. However those who bash Hak's style must not know much about hockey as almost all teams play that way.....most NHL teams. The only teams that don't are Euro or other teams that play on the big ice.
  14. I can't even tell what you are trying to say. Who called Hak an idiot? Also yes, Yale has won but I don't think you completely change your recruiting style simply because some ECAC teams are having some recent success. Let's see how long teams like Q and Union stay in the top 5-10 range. Those teams are 100% built of 4 year players and most of them come in at 20. I still like seeing the young studs come in.
  15. I love Crosby but I chuckled pretty hard after that one
  16. I am perfectly fine with the Sioux hockey teams....I'm just hoping we get lucky one of these years. I am not one of the fire hakers and I am not one of the posters bashing hak's system. I was simply stating that winning the WSOP would be much harder than winning an NCAA hockey title. Again, it really isn't even close.
  17. Actually it's no where near the same....look at the total number of college hockey teams, the. Look at the total number of participants in the WSOP. Also there is much less bad outcomes than there are in hockey....and hockey had a lot of bad outcomes.
  18. Haha that was actually hilarious!
  19. In the grand scheme of things....only one of the teams you have mentioned has done anything and none of them have had any long term success. I still stay with our recruiting process. We just need a better balance of blue chippers to 4 year players. For a while there Hak was going all in on too many blue chippers.
  20. So much better. He would be a below average AHL player so it made sense to jump early. He'll make more money.
  21. BC does it quite consistently...not that we should compare ourselves to BC or anything
  22. Could be, I just know their youth hockey through high school is very average. It getting a lot better for sure, but it is still average in the grand scheme of things....when talking about the popularity of the sport in that particular state.
