  1. Only if you put down some plastic.
  2. Dead ringer for Sandy Perkus (Amanda Detmer) in Saving Silverman.
  3. So, the standard for a “good” logo is whether you encounter people who don’t recognize it? Wow. So I guess the Brien Sioux being confused with the Blackhawks was the death knell for that one. And the interlocking ND with Notre Dame...that one never stood a chance. Hate to say it, but right now Mark Kennedy being a controversial CU hire is 10000% more perceptible to the public than the Sioux, the Hawks, the Ralph, the 8 hockey titles, the campus, the academics, and everything else that you appear to think that UND is, combined. UND has an identity. UND is UND. UND will never have anything close to the brand recognition or market penetration of mid-level D1 schools, let alone professional sports franchises. And no logo will ever change that. Not understanding “identity” is why people can’t move on.
  4. Everyone knew this was coming. Is it bad for the NDUS or Chancellor not to have issued a perfunctory statement? Are they gun shy after the Chancellor botched his letter to Kennedy so badly?
  5. DISCLAIMER - I'm completely agnostic about Kennedy and Colorado, and I think the politicization of the CU process as I watched it unfold was a joke. But I'm curious...if you're a regent who will vote both resolutely and unanimously with your peers in private, but are so obviously willing to cave to public pressure, why on earth would you advance only a single candidate for further consideration? Especially if you're predictably in the ideological/political minority on the board? You've basically f**k-teased your constituents by pretending to care -- and will forever get to pass yourself off as a righteous and noble champion for the oppressed -- by casting what you knew all along would be a purely token vote, because thanks to you there wasn't a moderate or less polarizing choice given, let alone one to espouse your own preferred world views. Not only did you lose today, but you exposed yourself as an incompetent d-bag. Will anyone vote to reelect these people?
  6. If the Peay PP's PPG were better than UND's, I would be so pissed.
  7. On the topic of banners and participation trophies, this should stir the pot.
  8. Word is that the Canad water park is a big hit on the campus visit weekends, and that the new memorial union will include a Chuck E Cheese. Delta adding staff to deal with the influx of unaccompanied minors flying to GFK.
  9. I've always wondered...what if the gold rush came 20 years later?
  10. Self-inflicted damage for the Bruins.
  11. Banner-shaming should not be a thing. Banners help acclimate new fans - and new residents - to the team/franchise/program, and they help to tell a story, and history. Banners offer something to look at when your seat-mate has bad breath, or bores you with the same story for the 100th time. Banners are good business for local designers and seamstresses. If I'm not mistaken, REA actually has a PERMANENT banner-raising apparatus installed at one end of the rink. If things don't turn around quickly, that alone may get UND mocked. (Not to mention the chain and gears will rust up.)
  12. Capitals got FEMA'd. "The response and recovery effort probably has never been seen for something like this," President Trump said. "This is an arena filled with frozen water, big frozen water, frozen ocean water."
  13. Would a cap on post-facto escalation work? For instance, if a minor is called, it can be upgraded to a major on review. If no penalty is called spontaneously, only a minor can be assessed? It seems a lot of the angst last night is that we went from a no-call situation where play was allowed to continue over and around the clearly injured player, to a 5 minute major and a DQ, ostensibly ONLY after the extent of the injury was clearer. Yet, the explanation felt lacking. Separately...assuming the officials last night were persuaded by one or both linesmen (which I understand to be permissible), does it make sense to empower linesmen to make certain calls? This might eliminate those situations where enhanced penalties seem to come out of nowhere.
  14. Sorry, but the NHL loses some credibility tonight with that BS major call. Refs absolutely took over the game.
  15. "...steal hubcaps off a moving car..." Hadn't heard that one before. That's awesome.
  16. But enough about the Leafs.
  17. That moment when you see yourself in the team's new jersey on the Jumbotron and decide that hanging up the skates might not be the worst idea.
  18. Camera angles in Dallas are atrocious. Entire sequences along the near boards are all but hidden from view.
  19. Harsh no-goal call there keeps Carolina on top. Must have been the old, "intent-to-blow" call. Now a probable dagger. Caps down 4-2.
  20. Disruption? Desperation? Near as I recall, during its successful run UND never took commits from 8th and 9th graders. And fans on here would mock and ridicule schools that did.
  21. Refs swallowed the whistles, for sure. I think Vegas was offsides on a couple of possessions late.
  22. Agreed. That OT was intense.
