  1. I really enjoyed the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum at MCAS Miramar. Awesome static displays, and the guys working there (all retired military) were incredible.
  2. Source? Do you work there? Can you share any written policies? Or did it go something like this: - Hello, Wildfan. What's happening? Uh… we have sort of a problem here. Yeah. You apparently wore a Sioux shirt on denim day today. - Oh, yeah. I'm sorry about that. I, I forgot. - Mmmm..yeah. You see, we're banning the Fighting Sioux logo from the building. Did you see the memo about this? - Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've got the memo right here, but, uh, uh, I just forgot. But, uh, it's almost 4:30, so there's no problem. - Yeah. If you could just go ahead and make sure you do that from now on, that will be great. And Uh, I'll go ahead and make sure you get another copy of that memo. Mmmm, OK?
  3. I get why Wal-Mart wanted to be close to I-29, but I continue to be surprised that there's not more retail development on the east side of the Red. Between the zero sales tax on clothing and the open before noon on Sundays, you would think that would be a draw.
  4. And down goes the quality of life well past zero. Have you ever lived/worked within smelling distance of a refinery? GFK with taters, beets, fertilizer and oil? I'll pass.
  5. Just following up and am curious on peoples' experiences…I thought the feed was good. Decent actually. With virtually no lag and quality sound. (I have quite reliable MidCo broadband and an exceptional wireless router.) BUT…it was a web feed, and whatever imperfections existed (e.g., the camerawork seemed amateurish and some of the faster player movements were jumpy) were magnified greatly by connecting the computer to a large screen TV. Even a full-screen 15" laptop was almost too much. A regular browser window turned out to be ideal with respect to picture quality. Is this typical? Am I spoiled with HDTV and expecting too much from a stream? Does anyone else prefer a computer or small screen?
  6. Fair enough. But in light of recent developments with the Redskins issue, the collective noise coming from the Sooner State (as reported by OK-based media) was very anti-nickname and nobody seemed too concerned with splitting hairs. Have to wonder if the tide there has turned in the past several years.
  7. If I am not mistaken, the FLORIDA Seminoles signed off; the OKLAHOMA Seminoles were not even asked (and to this day are opposed).
  8. How about Seminals. We could have a hairy sack with two bulges for a mascot. Bring Tom Green and Lance Armstrong in for cancer awareness campaigns. Our opponents could taunt us with vasectomy chants. After a loss, coach could go on and on about how the freshmen didn't drop. Cheer and dance teams could dress up in slick white bodysuits and squirm around.
  9. Oh, come on. That's 2 1/2 months…for a process. Maybe we should call ourselves the Procrastinators.
  10. I am bracing for anything and everything. I consider the $15 I paid for a month of nchc.tv a gamble and not an investment. There's always Hennessy and the radio feed.
  11. I'd guess 10 to 20 cents higher than the Fargo version.
  12. Throwback jerseys are inevitable (but don't count on it with any regularity). As for the name, I would not expect the University, the PA announcer, or anyone else to use it officially, regardless of whether the NCAA would permit it. It might get tossed out there in promotion of a special event or in the build-up before the game, but even then they might well bury it in a reference to 'the University's proud history' or some other nonsense.
  13. Notwithstanding the System Requirements, has anyone with a Smart TV had luck with nchc.tv via their TV's installed browser? With fingers crossed and admittedly in denial, I finally tried logging in with my 2-year-old Samsung. I was able to log in and view all of the content at the site but not access any video. I am not a tech geek, and I realize that there are a lot of behind-the-scenes issues with streaming, but I was a little disappointed because it seemed that so many popular video/media sites do work on this TV and I had let myself build up a tiny bit of hope. Also, has anyone heard whether nchc.tv compatibility with Smart TV will improve in the future?
  14. It's quite a fallacy for MidCo to suggest that CableOne holdouts in Fargo are going to benefit and that MidCo is losing out on revenue. If you were a UND hockey fan living in Fargo and had the choice going into the season between CableOne (a handful of CBSSN games; FCS was not officially in the mix) and MidCo (the whole home season PLUS CBSSN), wouldn't you have jumped ship already? By sharing a handful of broadcasts with FCS - and by extension, CableOne subscribers in Fargo - where is the harm? Those households obviously weren't interested in MidCo to begin with.
  15. I couldn't get past the pay wall…EXCEPT when I used the link in the @IlliniHockey Twitter feed. Thanks for the tip, cberkas!
  16. Do they happen to have a med school with a proctology residency? They could call themselves the Ass Techs and nobody would notice.
  17. Good grub. Something like this is way overdue. Of course, in GF, we can't even get a Long John Silver.
  18. THIS is why UND needed a VP for Diversity. We're fixing to put out even more crackers.
  19. Have we beaten up on "Sentinels" yet? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sentinel?s=t Fits well with the state's cold war motif, nukes, Cavalier Air Station radar, Border Patrol.
  20. With the dwindling relevance of the AFB and the constant BRAC fears, you'd think it would have evolved to Worriers of the North.
  21. Hook and Ladder is my recommendation. Make sure you hit up the hot sauce bar, too. Dozens to try!
