That is a very good question. With the expanded format they could have a chance if the teams on the back end of our schedule do well against their other opponents. We'd have a slight chance.

In his defense he looks like a new man this year. He's at least good for a tap in goal and crushing some pipes. Mitch on the other hand..... I'm sure he's a great team guy but he just needs to do something and that doesn't mean hold back our top line.

I'm not going to predict anything for this week since Sac St is a talented team that just last week held a big lead on NAU. There are some things that I will be looking for out of UND though. Defense. They need to bring the same intensity and tackling from the EWU game. They only missed a couple tackles all game in the open field. Kuksa. Will he build off of last week and be the catalyst for the defense? Turnovers. We need to get in the habit of forcing them. EWU won last week because of turnovers and that is it. Line. The trenches were ok last week. Edwards was in there throwing their center around which was nice to see but we still need more out of this unit. If we blitz the big boys need to eat the blocks so the lbs can feast on the qb and rb. Offense. Will Joe build on his performance last week? A lot like Kuksa, Joe is the catalyst for the offense. If he can be composed and more aware back there of the situations we can have a big day on offense. If he takes care of the ball we have a great chance of winning. The run game. Last year our bigger back Sutton killed them. Are we going to try and kill them with two little guys or will Sparks and Shaugs get some carries outside of the redzone? Hog. Last year out hogs ran them over and broke their will. They need to do it again this year. Also will we see Adams soon? He could make difference in the run game immediately.

I have a game for you to play then. Next game bring a pen and pad and before they line up in formation write down what play UND is obviously going to run and keep a tally of how many times you are right. Let us know how you do.

I didn't say he won't be able to hack it. I was making a point that not everyone is protecting Ladue just because he's from gf. For my money Stecher and Ausmus were the two new defensemen who looked the most ready out of the gate.

Just pointing out that there are multiple ways to end up with the same results aka nothing is black and white. And yes football is pretty complex.

Or the person could be a heroin addict or have hay fever or have a deviated septum or cluster headache.

I haven't been impressed with Ladue yet. He and Thompson looked out of place at times. Both had noticeably shaky sticks too. And it's not a local kid nerves thing since Johnson had no such issues.

But would you know the cause of the runny nose?

Mattsons decisions with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone are terrible sometimes. He'll have an easy open pass and try a dangerous pass through a defenders stick all too often. I just don't feel comfortable when he's on the puck up top. He's got one hell of a shot but about five times a game he makes a pass that makes me cringe. I really like Ausmus. He's so much better on the puck and at skating than I thought he would be. He's bigger than I thought also. He could end up being the best of all the fr defensemen.
