  1. LB's generally have the RB in man coverage. Sometimes the safety. It was a good call. The only thing that could have stopped that would have been a time out or some blatant holding on Otto's part right away.
  2. I wonder what would happen if, next game, we come out and refuse to pass the ball downfield for the first few drives and the coaches attempt a smash mouth attack with runs and screens? Anyone think the OL would maybe wake up and get an edge? There's nothing like being able to enforce your will on an opponent like we used to.
  3. I was also referring to my post where I stated that we'll be better after we lose some of our worthless seniors. This year we're averaging 412 given up on D through 3 games against 2 of the best teams in the country and one of the worst D1 teams out there. Last year our schedule wasn't as hard and we gave up on average 480 yards and that includes a game against South Dakota State School of Mimicry and Technology. I'd put money on our defense averaging better than last years defense in yards given up per game even though it's a harder schedule. It's not Kool Aid it's an opinion that you disagree with.
  4. I'm not sure how a negative post like that is considered Kool Aid drinking
  5. One good thing about this buy week is that the wound can fester even longer. This game needs to be in the back of their minds for the rest of the season as a motivating and unifying factor. If they try and move on like it never happened they won't improve enough.
  6. Cox and Cary do have nice size and I wonder what the deal is with Espanosa? Is he injured or something? Carr at LB? I'm not sure how he could ever be a LB at 5'9 195? There's no way.
  7. I didn't like what I saw on defense yesterday either but when guys were wide open it was because of a failure by an individual player not a coach or a scheme.
  8. Define right spot because I saw plenty of players being in the right spot and not getting off a block or sticking with their man.
  9. Early in the game the defense was stopping the run. They were beating us with the pass. Montana deserves credit for some unbelievably good play calls. The isolation of Van on Otto was brilliant. Players were in the right spots to make plays most of the game. Hall got burned by a double move as usual and Mackey being the deep safety didn't break on the long TD on Browns side until the guy had caught the ball. At first I thought Darryl got burned which doesn't really happen until I realized that we were in zone and that was Mackey's responsibility on that play. And that jump ball in the end zone with 2 UND DBs on 1 Griz WR was on the players for not making the play. I have a couple questions. Do you think we have 3-4 style DEs? And do you think it hurts us to have such short small safeties?
  10. The defense is not worse than last year. I just can't wait for the graduation or benching of Mackey and Hall. The secondary looks better. Hall and Mackey sucked last year against double moves and they still suck against double moves. I really wish Konalowski would have done his job off the field so he could play because I had a feeling he would start. I still think Edwards should start. Cummings still needs to be checked for a pulse. Maybe going huge and having Cheatom Edwards and Henson or Welch would work? The injury to Goodman, once again, was a killer. I still say, by the end of the season this years defense will be much better than last years.
  11. If they do hire a new coach he needs to be a defensive coach.
  12. We have recruits at every home game. Also did anyone notice the punch that was throw at Goard in the end zone that was missed? The refs didn't call if and the dude wound up and whiffed.
  13. A fr qb needs good oline play to succeed.
  14. What do I need to be called out about? He played well last week and earned the start. I never said he played really well tonight. That was clear. He didn't get much help from his team. He doesn't go down in the history books, the whole team does.
  15. In a way it's kind of nice to see some of the players had some fire tonight. Though not exactly mature it can be harnessed. We could have used that on the field.
  16. Jesus Christ himself couldn't have caught that duck Bartels heaved up tonight. The best WR today was not Hardin. He was maybe our 3rd best. I didn't criticize Bartels for last week really. He made rookie mistakes like Joe did. Joe made some rookie mistakes tonight. The difference is that Joe is more capable than Ryan to make plays when the line is as bad as it is and that is a fact.
  17. Based off this post you are not painting the full picture of how he actually played along with the external variables. You may be pissed about the game but he's still the guy. Bartels would have been sacks 10 times today with that protection.
  18. Anyone think we should try and find some good JUCO defensive guys and FBS transfers to beef up the D for the next season?
  19. Bartels looked better? I'd stick with Joe. He made some good plays given the oline play. It's hard to make good throws when you can't set your feet alot of the time.
  20. I like the way Kotelnicki calls games better. He's more aggressive. I just wonder how long it will take us to find more DBs like Darryl Brown and hopefully Kuksa and Reyes are the answers at safety.
  21. You can't make chicken soup from chicken sh1t
  22. That's alot of coin for a trophy shaped like a hotel.
  23. And yet the football team owns the most recent national title. Hak doesn't walk on water. The program recruits itself he should get more out of it.
  24. I will start a riot if we lose to them.
