  1. Zenner. No contest. He's not as shifty but he's 220 and wayyyyy faster. He's a machine and durable. He didn't look tired once last night and had almost 40 carries.
  2. You are really ornery after this one. Maybe you should temper your over the top enthusiasm and also step away from the ledge when things don't work out. We lost the game. The team will use it as motivation and take away multiple coaching lessons from it and be better as a result. The football team will move on to the next game today. I suggest you do the same.

You have to run the ball to soften up the D. I don't think Miller should start anymore. Shaugabay can make something happen where Miller can't because he isn't capable of breaking tackles. Imagine the change of pace for a defense if we put in Shaugabay out of nowhere after they had gotten used to tackling 160lbs of Miller. He'd blow somebody apart and get the line going.
  4. Yea, fire the who camera crew or have them take notes from NFL games today. HD doesn't mean you need to zoom in to see the perspiration on the QBs knuckles.
  5. Just to add some level headedness to this post game talk. Imagine before the game I ask if we have 3 turnovers 10 penalties for 100+ yards and Zenner goes for about 300 yards what do you think the score would be? Would anyone including myself have guessed we only lose by 7? Hell no. Just think about what our young team is capable of. If the line can get it together and if we play some RBs other than Miller our offense can roll anyone. The defense that played in the second half was intense and desperate for every stop. If they play like that consistently, which they should, we will win alot of games. We're 1-1 and have 5 more home games that we just proved are winnable. That's something to be excited about.

If he still gets picked that would just mean more time on the clock and sdsu can't do victory formation and maybe get the ball back one last time.
  7. With how the line was 'protecting' today throwing off the back foot was the only option for either guy way too often. Joe is more able to get away with that because he throws easier and is a better athlete. The main reason I think he's the guy is he showed 'it' tonight.

I also loved how the coaches had Jackson lined up all over the place. He started off pretty shaky with bad drops but then he settled in and started to make plays. Matchup nightmare.

I just watched the highlights and didn't realize that the throw Mollberg made where he couldn't really step into it went 55 yards in the air......... holy !@#$, this kid has all the tools.

Unfortunately it's not just on the coaches. The players I mentioned should start but do we know that they have the playbook down like the starters? There's always that unseen preparation that goes into earning the start. I hope some changes are made based on how guys played tonight though. Some people really proved themselves valuable. O and play Shaugabay for Christs sake.

The penalties need to be cleaned up. A few were total BS but still. The pass D was ok tonight. Darrel messed up once that I saw. Goodman was in a tough spot on the TD but was in very good position and almost broke it up. They dropped a few easy ones but they certainly weren't wide open like in the past. If the D can play like they did down the stretch they may start making plays like they used to. As for the size up front. Spencer Cummings is 6'4 280lbs. That a huge DE. Did he make any plays? No. Having the size is nice but I'd rather have a player who is not as big but isn't soft and plays nasty.
  12. Bartels was hesitating to make his throws today. Mollberg was more confident and decisive. He's the guy. This competition is over.

I forgot to mention. Play Shaugabay damn it! seriously, that's the major thing that pisses me off. Jake Miller is good but he is not a feature back.
  14. Neither was great with the accuracy today but after Joe settled down he did not play like a FR. He made a couple throws that made my jaw drop.
  15. Down like that after a long TD run that seemed to be a nail in the coffin would be a common time for most teams to pack it in. We didn't. It matters more than you think at every level of athletics. Something clicked with the team late in the 3rd. This loss sucked, we gave them the 2nd and most of the 3rd quarters/ they kicked our asses. Then we turn around and play with reckless abandon for the rest of the game and almost pull out a huge comeback against a very very good team. I hope that carries over and the coaches notice who earned more playing time and who shouldn't play as much. After tonight, even though I'm extremely disappointed, I believe in this team and think they're ready to make something happen.

The refs sucked tonight. They missed calls for both teams. That first down pass that skipped to the WR, really? The missed delay of game before the very soft (albeit boneheaded) late hit out of bounds. The missed unnecessary roughness against UND on a punt coverage. And when they did call something they sounded befuddled by what they were attempting to say. Players who didn't start but should have: Mike 'Big Snacks' Edwards When he was at NT the run defense actually made some plays. At times he took a double team 5 yards into the backfield. He needs to start. No offense to Henson but he just isn't a D1 athlete. He may know what he's doing back he isn't physically capable of doing it. Mike is. Joe Mollberg Need I say more? Derrick Goard He killed Zenner on a blitz. The poor guy landed on his numbers after Goard blew him up. Goard also sliced threw the line like his hair was on fire to stuff Zenner a couple times. He made a difference when he was in there and needs to play more. Also Meindel had a bad first punt and responded with an absolute bomb. He will be a good one for sure.
  17. O blow it up your ass. A well coached team doesn't give up and those kids didn't stop until the clock read 0:00. The players figured it out in the late 3rd quarter. The coaches put them in position to succeed all game and near the end they started making the plays. This thread is a joke and you guys should be ashamed for this type of talk two games into the season.
  18. This game showed that Joe is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, the QB of the present and future. The line was not doing a good job protecting and he made some amazing throws. That throw to Hardin that he wasn't able to step into as two quys were hitting him was NFL caliber and then some. The kid is a man child and showed it out there against the #6 team in the country. His mobility was also noticeably better than Bartels. Bartels made too many costly mistakes and missed too many throws. Joe has my vote from now on even though I was cheering for Bartels in my heart. Joe lead the team back from the dead and he earned this job.
