I thought it looked like Christmas came early. I liked it, haha.

Get rid of the bird head my parent's cat left on the doorstep and the wings aren't so terrible. I kind of like the wings on the helmet actually Ditch the "UND Fighting Hawks" and "Home of the U" wording and just put an interlocking ND above the wings. I've resigned myself to accept that Hawks will win. I don't like it, I still voted for Roughriders yesterday, and this weekend is a good example of why hawks shouldn't be chosen, but there's a 95% chance it's the name so I guess I'll get used to it. If we have to be the Hawks, I think I'd prefer to just go with a "wing(s)" logo rather than the full bird in an effort to differentiate ourselves from the dozens of other colleges/universities with the name.

People were upset with Schloss for passing off the Nodak support of a couple hockey players as support of all UND athletes. Now he's just talking about the schedule, which is quite fitting for this weekend. One was opinion, one is fact.

Last year had Montana on the home schedule, leading to higher attendance than there otherwise would have been. So I'd say the bump this year, although modest, is a good sign for future growth. Just win, and keep winning, and they will eventually come.

Because of his extensive experience managing people?

Unfortunately the nazi association has ruined a lot of cool Egyptian, Norse, and German symbols.

No tenure, but I wouldn't be surprised if his contract requires at least a 1 year notice prior to dismissal (and thus a payout of 1 year's salary upon his dismissal).

There you have it.

Of course right after getting a picture here, I see this one on the facebook.

Ah that's a much better picture. Is there storage space for soccer nets/hurdles/other equipment already attached to the building or will that be in Phase 2?
-
So is there a big space of bare floor between the west wall and where the track starts or where will the seating be going? It didn't look like there was much space between the track and the walls in any of the pictures.

I feel like that hawk is peeping at me through a window. With UND's recent personnel issues, we don't need any peeping hawks.

I wonder if they'll be the Hawk Bloc next....

Hawks are cool birds and can represent fierceness, power, agility, etc. In a bubble they are a great nickname for a university. Unfortunately we don't exist in a bubble and we are 50 colleges/universities late to the party. Because of this, our hawk logo will be confused with everybody else's hawk logo, pretty much regardless of what it looks like. With that said, it is becoming apparent that Fighting Hawks will be the new nickname, so I guess it's time to start working through the stages.

I don't think Kelley will be around for the final logo selection. I can't imagine feathers not being allowed on a hawk logo, but they'll need to be done in a way that appears relatively natural. I'm in agreement with the other posters regarding the name being a problem due to its spirituality in Native American culture. Plenty of other animals that are viewed as spiritual are already used as mascots/logos. There are already a lot of real problems with the Fighting Hawks nickname, kind of pointless to make up additional fake ones. If the Fighting Hawk supporters didn't already get it, this won't change them. I don't like the name, but it's time to start preparing for it, because it has a 98% (made up number, actual statistics may place it higher) chance of being the new nickname.

Only thing I've seen was the Blackhawk logo.

So is the bison, and the eagle, and the....... They got the "people not mascots" thing, they don't get animals too. Fighting Hawks is a weak name, but it's looking like it's time to start preparing for it. "Control what's yours to control" if you will.

Yeah I just did a lookup for Native American hawk art and those wings came up. They are really busy.
