Also, you never want to have a big public divorce with a big former donor. Doesn't give other potential donors warm fuzzies.
-
In the short term, yes. Lot of hope/trust that maintaining a relationship will lead to future donations.

There's probably an intramural team or 2 playing there under that name. Get their schedule next fall.

It is apparent these boards exist on paper only. There's just one person calling the shots.
-
FYP. And yeah, it seems she's disappointed they haven't kissed the ring yet.
-
Very good question. The board does have several Engelstad family friends/business partners on it, but there are also several UND/Grand Forks connected persons. However, when seeking guidance on how to act on certain issues REA manager Hodgson only contacts the Engelstads for input. Why is this happening?
-
There is evidence McGarry is not acting in good faith. After her Foundation attorney, Foundation accountant, and REA manager Hodgson spent months negotiating a new deal with Kennedy, she shot it down and said case closed.
-
Although I dislike the way McGarry has gone about handling this issue, what's with the constant reference to "MISS McGarry"? Is it supposed to be a diss of some sort?

http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/editorials/4446494-engelstads-vs-kennedy-tricky-waltz Herald editorial. Relatively fair conclusions, though they failed to remind readers McGarry lied multiple times in her interview.

So why is the agreement renewed annually if there is nothing to be renegotiated? And the original agreement is what is sitting on his desk, not the framework of an agreement that was negotiated over 10 months with management and members of the REA and its board, which the whole REA Board turned around and rejected. I also think KEM needs to look into where the revenue from the REA comes from and take a look at what the REA charges UND directly for. Safe to say a large portion of the revenues are tied to UND athletics either directly or indirectly. Kris, you're absorbing all these costs with UND's money!! You personally have never contributed anything to REA, and the Engelstad Foundation is not making annual contributions to support the REA. It's not your money, it's money you are taking from UND that is being used to pay for everything.

UND is trying to push a consistent identity and get fans used to seeing the logo. When fans get used to seeing the logo, they associate und and the logo with one another. When fans do that, they decide to express support for und by wearing the logo. Basketball and volleyball players, coaches, and (most) fans are already on board with the new logo. There's no excuse for refusing to place the logo at center court. Is it really that important to not have the logo at center court?
-
No, they didn't. Football had it on their jersey and there was a banner in the alerus. Basketball had it on their shorts. Also, the school didn't lack a unified identity prior to 2012.

Unfortunately, the hockey players and hockey-only crowd disagree, as we've already seen in the first response to your post. And unfortunately again, hockey controls most of the UND athletic department.

The state paid for ndsu's STEM building. I'd hope they would be in at last for matching funds for a UND STEM building.- 205 replies

Appears it was set up that way so the entire AD would contribute towards the Betty bonds.

Robin Hall, Collaborative Energy Complex, Med School, Gorecki Alumni Center, Core Library, Athletics High Performance Center, law school reno, and a ton of private investment in apartment complexes on the university's doorstep. Fundraising for HPC 2, business school, memorial union reno.... But yeah, UND is seeing no capital investment. With all that said, I would like to see more effort put into on-campus enrollment by UND.
