  1. i understand you mean it as a joke (i see the lol). it's just such an old joke now. it's not that funny anymore.
  2. Darell, it's a little tiring and predictable that you bring NDSU into every thread.

to answer your question directly - eleven Bryant and O'Neal did not play on the Bulls teams - only Jordan and Pippen Jordan and Pippen did not play for the Lakers and O'Neal only played on 3 of the 5 championship teams in LA. btw, only O'Neal won a (one) championship on a team without Jackson as the coach. So, technically, all the championships were won without all four: Jordan, Pippen, Bryant and O'Neal. The point is that I do not think you can win a championship without stars, whether its hockey, basketball, football... even the Twins had Kirby Puckett when they won. You have to be able to get the stars and their teammates to support each other and work hard for the common good. Jackson was able to do that. No disrespect, MM, but if Doug Collins couldn't win a championship with Jordan and Pippen, I humbly submit that you wouldn't have either.

So, how many championships did Doug Collins win at Chicago before Jackson? Or Tim Floyd after Jackson? How about Kurt Rambis (before), Rudy Tomjanovich (between) or Mike Brown (after) at Los Angeles? Yes, Jackson coached talented players, but so did Red Auerbach - Russell and Cousy. Its not just having talent, its knowing what to do with it.
  5. He does not elaborate, but claims it would not be complicated: If they (BCS Football) break off and eventually take basketball with them, the NCAA will not have the $ to continue and college athletics as we know it would be decimated. This would be a perversion of capitalism that stems from the 'I'm the only one that matters to me' attitude that is such a large part of today's society. What has happened to personal responsibility with an eye toward the common good? It feels like that is disappearing from today's society.
  6. This is an honest question because I do not know the answer... Is there a war going on the world today that does not involve the Muslims on one side?
  7. At least so far, the MVC is not going to save the Dakota Big 3. Loyola of Chicago made it official today, replacing Creighton.
  8. Hello, NJIT? Can you come out to play with me and bring a friend, like maybe New York IT ? Pretty please.
  9. and under ACA (Obamacare) if you die because you can't get access to decent care, they don't have to insure you as long. A win for them.
  10. they would have to keep their membership number up to retain the autobid, wouldnt' they?
  11. I might agree with Sioux-cia's suggestion of a domestic terrorist like Timothy McVeigh, though. The radical muslim groups like to take credit for their successes, but haven't done it yet...
  12. are you talking about the sprawling ND metropolis Baldwin or Blanchard?
  13. A league merger would likely cost Douple his job. Don't see him giving up his position. More likely the Summit becomes the new move-up league. Adding teams like NJIT and DII move-ups.

    Softball

I realize that softball is not a revenue sport, but couldn't they play in the Alerus? Maybe a short right field?
  15. You asked for the bottom budgets in the conferences - Purdue is the lowest budget in the B1G. Just trying to answer your question, Herd. Even the top budgets in FCS can't come close to the budgets of the top BCS conferences. And yes, I did cherry pick the B1G. Washington State's budget is not so large ($40 M), but they have a tough time competing in the Pac 12.
  16. OK, how about this? Details of revenues and expenses at NCAA D-I public schools, 2006-2011 Purdue - lowest athletic budget in B1G - $66 M UNLV - Highest budget in WMC - $59 M Wyoming - lowest budget in MWC - $27 M NDSU - HIGHEST budget in Summit League - $15 M Montana State - HIGHEST Budget in Big Sky - $20 M Source: USA Today

  18. with the format you are proposing, the playoffs could go something like: best 2 of 3 in the first weekend best 2 of 3 the second weekend (currently the off weekend for pituitary freak bouncyball), both at the home of the higher seed and the Frozen Four at the predetermined FF site.
  19. If Michigan won 2 titles in 22 straight trips to the NCAA, UND should be "due". Berenson has 2 national titles under his belt in 30 years as the Wolverine's head coach - took him 12 years to get the first. But, the Wolverines are also 0 for the century.
  20. since 2000 is the last year of the 20th century
  21. Yeah, wonder about that. It did not look like Shore dropped his shoulder or attempted to take the guy out. It seemed more like Goumas skated into Shore and hit his head on Shore's shoulder pad then laid on the ice until forever.
  22. Do you mean Mike Eaves or Cary Eades? Heck, both would be good candidates. Not sure it would be good to have to go up against Eades. No, pretty sure it would not be good.
  23. Actually coaches who go to the national tournament every year as a head coach and hold the current standard for the most consecutive NCAA appearances don't get fired either. Doesn't make him a great coach, but it does make him a very good coach or maybe a great recruiter.
  24. when you get out shot 2 to 1 its not because you ran in to a hot goalie. Saunders was a hot goalie, just got overworked.
