    2013 Playoffs

Bohl to Iowa State next year?
  3. i'm getting tired of this debate. neither place is the Garden of Eden, but the point here is getting a prospective coach to come to UND. how about we let the thread get back on track? Wristen, Caruso, Leipold, Aranda, Cotton, Kleiman, Bollinger, Tibesar? Tom Hayes (K State) anyone?
  4. yep, my daughter started at UND in 2010. changed a lot, but its still flat, windy and has terrible winters. your point?
  5. ok, the actual comment was "North Dakota", however UND is not in Bismarck, so the comparison implies Grand Forks
  6. back in the ice age... days of Jerry Olson/Gene Murphy, Rube Bjorkman, Dave Gunther former swimming coach Mike Stromberg was a suite-mate at McVey
  7. ok, maybe I am not remembering as clearly as you, but there was a lot of praise being lauded on Bradley before he showed up on campus. it may have cooled a little after spring ball. doesn't change the basic tenet of my post - someone more along the lines of Caruso, Leipold, Wristen, Pflugrad, even Kleiman; or from BCS ranks like Cotton, Aranda, Claeys if the salary could meet their standards.
  8. seriously?? you are trying to say that Grand Forks is better than anywhere in Colorado? Even Greeley? I grew up just down the road from Grand Forks, spent 4 years in Grand Forks. It may not be the end of the earth, but you can see it from there. Now the IPF, the indoor stadium, the academics, where the graduates get jobs - those are things to brag about...
  9. Reading the persuasive posts on the Bollinger side and have lost some resistance to the idea. Then started to remember the hype on this board about Joe Mollberg 2 years ago - all the potential he was going to bring to the Sioux. Then thought a little farther back about another QB who was going to transform himself into a great QB out of a California Junior College like Aaron Rodgers named Joey Bradley. So, I'm getting a little gun-shy about these highly-hyped prospects who have not proven themselves. (However, Braden Hanson worked out rather nicely and Hendricksen developed into a very strong QB) So, in the end, not feeling all that confident about Brooks Bollinger. Not to say he (or Mollberg) will not develop into the head coach (quarterback) that so many here are saying he will. Mollberg will have 3 more years to do it. Bradley never did turn out, for UND or the places he has been since. So, would Bollinger spend 2 or 3 years learning how to be that head coach everyone is saying he will (I sure wouldn't say that he won't), then take UND to the playoffs in 4 years or so. Who can say that he would turn down an offer from someone like U Wisconsin as soon as he becomes the head coach people on here are saying he has the potential to become. Or will he not become the awesome coach some on here are proclaiming that he will, a'la Bradley? Yes, there are no guarantees that whomever is chosen to be the next head coach will not move on in that timeframe (much like Bohl probably will very soon) or will work out at all. Not expecting guarantees, just want better odds. [disclaimer: this is only the opinion of someone who has never coached or even been coached since high school]
  10. maybe he already found himself a new job as a recruiting coordinator
  11. Bollinger might be the one who could excite GF fans enough to bring an increase in season ticket sales.
  12. The minimums are usually added in case you don't the right quality candidates. Clearly should not be a problem in this case.
  13. the other question about this guy... the same thing everyone is saying about how Bollinger is a UND guy - his dad was the IUP head coach for many years.
  14. c'mon Oxbow, lighten up. You got your way, as did most of us on this board. didn't you see the ?
  15. wouldn't it be nice to find a coach who could inspire his players like this: "We'd run through a brick wall for him. He has that look in his eye that you can tell that when he talks to you he really does care. I gave him a hug after the game, and I don't know if he'd want me saying this, but I saw his eyes water up. It's awesome when you play with someone who has that same passion." yes, i know Orgeron is not a possibility, but gotta promote the passion. Go SIOUX!
  16. but it was the highest total attendance since 2007.
  17. what is Bollinger's recruiting territory for Pitt? How has he done recruiting-wise?
  18. He is a UND guy??? How many downs did he play for the Sioux? Not against the idea, but he is a UWisco guy, isn't he?
  19. So Tracy Claeys, Barney Cotton, Dave Aranda or someone like them is more to your liking? This may be how Faison in thinking, as well.
  20. to get a top quality HC, Faison will have to open up the checkbook - probably with a combination of base, performance, attendance, scholastic, etc incentives. All these FBS coordinators will command a higher pay than Coach Mussman and his staff did. UND will have to step up to get top talent.
  21. UND has more games on CBSSN than Denver, Duluth and Omaha combined?
  22. from anygivensaturday.com by WeAreNorthDakota sounds like a Brooks Bollinger resume...
  23. agree that it probably will not be someone being discussed on this thread. when a decision is made will more than likely have to depend on where the candidates came from - FCS regular season is not over until next weekend, playoffs even longer, FBS goes into December and then bowl games, DII and DII candidates will depend on their team's run into the playoffs. really don't expect a decision until at least the middle of December IMHO
