  1. A league merger would likely cost Douple his job. Don't see him giving up his position. More likely the Summit becomes the new move-up league. Adding teams like NJIT and DII move-ups.

    Softball

I realize that softball is not a revenue sport, but couldn't they play in the Alerus? Maybe a short right field?
  3. You asked for the bottom budgets in the conferences - Purdue is the lowest budget in the B1G. Just trying to answer your question, Herd. Even the top budgets in FCS can't come close to the budgets of the top BCS conferences. And yes, I did cherry pick the B1G. Washington State's budget is not so large ($40 M), but they have a tough time competing in the Pac 12.
  4. OK, how about this? Details of revenues and expenses at NCAA D-I public schools, 2006-2011 Purdue - lowest athletic budget in B1G - $66 M UNLV - Highest budget in WMC - $59 M Wyoming - lowest budget in MWC - $27 M NDSU - HIGHEST budget in Summit League - $15 M Montana State - HIGHEST Budget in Big Sky - $20 M Source: USA Today
  5. Detroit Free Press article last week: http://www.freep.com...land-university
  6. with the format you are proposing, the playoffs could go something like: best 2 of 3 in the first weekend best 2 of 3 the second weekend (currently the off weekend for pituitary freak bouncyball), both at the home of the higher seed and the Frozen Four at the predetermined FF site.
  7. If Michigan won 2 titles in 22 straight trips to the NCAA, UND should be "due". Berenson has 2 national titles under his belt in 30 years as the Wolverine's head coach - took him 12 years to get the first. But, the Wolverines are also 0 for the century.
  8. Yeah, wonder about that. It did not look like Shore dropped his shoulder or attempted to take the guy out. It seemed more like Goumas skated into Shore and hit his head on Shore's shoulder pad then laid on the ice until forever.
  9. Do you mean Mike Eaves or Cary Eades? Heck, both would be good candidates. Not sure it would be good to have to go up against Eades. No, pretty sure it would not be good.
  10. Actually coaches who go to the national tournament every year as a head coach and hold the current standard for the most consecutive NCAA appearances don't get fired either. Doesn't make him a great coach, but it does make him a very good coach or maybe a great recruiter.
  11. when you get out shot 2 to 1 its not because you ran in to a hot goalie. Saunders was a hot goalie, just got overworked.
  12. Last to first in his first year as head coach
  13. rough day for WCHA hockey too. only the Sioux are still standing out of all four western teams playing today. WOW.
  14. That is probably the best picture that will come out of this year's tournament. Two of college hockey's best players. thank you for this, sioux rube.
  15. So, 10 or 20 years down the road, would the WAC's previous life as a FBS conference be dead and buried or could their name be resurrected as a football conference with FBS credentials? This is, of course, assuming that the three tier setup that is being talked about does not come in to existence and the current two tier FBS - FBS doesn't lose the BCS to its own division. Under the proposed three tier system, the Big Sky would more than likely be on the same level as the Sun Belt, and Idaho would concievably become full Big Sky members.
  16. Looks like Idaho will not be bringing their football program to the Big Sky Sun Belt website announcement
  17. Agree that this is disgusting, however BC has not been in the NCAA tournament each of the last 13 years. . Back to traveling to Bemidji.
  18. trying to keep score... Georgia Southern and Appalachian State announced full Sun Belt affiliation today Idaho SBoHE meeting at 4 pm Mountain Time today New Mexico State Press Conference at 5:20 today
  19. Oral Roberts talking to Missouri Valley Conference
  20. Disagree with your post, but that is funny.
  21. I think y'all are selling Penn State short... They have this huge benefactor and no basketball program to speak of. Pennsylvania is not out of the national hockey footprint by any stretch, in fact you might say that they are in the middle of it. The Nittany Lions will be one of the stronger B1G teams sooner rather than later. They may be coming from nowhere, but they are coming in with more cash (and maybe more commitment) than any new program has for decades. As for the breakup, I would rather that we went back to the old WCHA from the time I was at UND and that would be UND, UM, UW, Duluth, CC, Denver, Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan Tech and Notre Dame. THAT was a conference! We will never get back there again, so we have to move on. The B1G is one of the most recognizable conferences in college athletics and their members have deep pockets. We will mourn the passing of the old WCHA, some of us mourn the passing of the original version, but life will go on. It's kinda like missing the old rivalries of the NCC, but now preferring to build the new rivalries in the Big Sky.
  22. Article is from Nov 2012, but saw a quote from Sun Belt Commissioner Karl Benson this morning on ESPN.com that NMSU and Idaho are being talked about by Sun Belt presidents. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9099719/idaho-vandals-new-mexico-state-aggies-headed-sun-belt-conference-2014-sources-say
  23. So the Quinnipiac coach signed off on BC in their region?! Guess I'll take QU in the brackets.
