Definitely should be getting an interview.
-
any bets on whether UND can name its new coach before Texas names Mack Brown's replacement?
-
There should be a happy medium. And, no disrepect intended toward Schweigert, but why is Faison taking a month and a half to hire Lennon 3.0? If he is really intending to hire Schweigert, this process is dragging on way too long. That is almost as far-fetched as thinking he could entice an NFL coach to UND. Seriously, if a national search ends up bringing back Lennon's other coordinator after the debacle of the last one, it was a national search in name only, with blinders,. Schweigert did not win the national championship at Duluth, Nielson did - twice.

Pflugrad, Mills, Marshall, Dewitt, Schweigert, Okruch, deBoer, Andrus, Ianello..........
-
Watching the Towson - Eastern Illinois, it seems that Oxbow's take on NDSU's defense is spot on. Neither of these teams has been able to slow the other team's offense, so my mind has changed a bit and this list will have a definite defensive slant to it... Robin Pflugrad still first choice - knows Big Sky and how to recruit and win Jeff Mills - New Mexico Defensive Coordinator. FBS experience and was DC the last time Idaho went to a bowl Jamie Marshall - Montana State Defensive Coordinator. again knows the Big Sky Jovan Dewitt - Defensive Coordinator at Florida Atlantic Bubba Schweigert - even though my personal preference is to start fresh, he knows defense Vince Okruch - again lots of FBS experience on the defensive side of the ball Honorable mention to Kalen DeBoer, Robin Ross, Bart Andrus and Robert Ianello. Maybe Faison is negotiating behind the scenes with someone like Barney Cotton, Ross Els, Mike Breske or Tracy Claeys (yeah, longshots). Also would like to see Todd Hoffner get a chance to get back into coaching at some level, but that would be up to the new head coach. Really believe that UND needs to put a solid defense on the field to win at this level. The offensive tools are there, but improving the tackling and pass coverage must be a focus. Both sides of the trenches are also key to turning the corner for the future.

would be very surprised if this is Faison's first opportunity to review the apps. he has probably had considerable input into which apps are making the cut, as well.

good weekend project for you smart HR-types--- can you calculate the points and figure out the 9 that were forwardable?
-
GoGriz, can you please send this to brian.faison@und.edu

Based on the choices supplied, my vote would go to Pflugrad. However, if the coach comes from this list, I think the only possible candidate under consideration by Faison would be deBoer, for reasons cited by jdub and SiouxGuy. When you have a number of very good candidates (which UND does), it does not take much to be eliminated. Plus, as I posted before, Pflugrad's refusal to dismiss Johnson from the Griz football team when he was told may be a red flag of not following orders by an AD like Faison. "Other" is my vote for most likely to be the next HC of UND.

yeah, Cratter. with Oral Roberts Tulsa U returning, maybe the Summit's basketball auto bid will hold for a while. Wonder what Douple had to give them to get them to come back? Basketball tournament? Surely waived their entry fee and maybe paid their exit fee to the Southland?
-
how many of the possible out-of-state applicants would know about this unusual requirement that the state of ND has?
-
like Bohl is a better HC than coordinator?
-
maybe Faison does have his top 3, but can't get them to apply due to: 1) open records - delay until last minute to avoid media coverage as much as possible (a'la deBoer) or 2) still coaching FCS playoff team or FBS bowl team (16 teams - 8 of each - play by 12/21) or 3) he is being considered or has applied for a different team (Kleiman, Hazelton) or 4) they are not convinced they want to come to GF/UND for personal reasons (Caruso) Or maybe, he does have the person already picked out but is allowing the process to play out according to HR schedule, not according to siouxsports.com schedule (really don't think this one can be attributed to anything but not being satisfied with the Berry hiring)

Looking at the Bart Andrus wiki page... he looks like he checks the experience boxes of the job posting very well - NFL, NFL Europe head coach and won World Bowl XII, CFL head coach, DI experience, knows the Big Sky, and was someone no one brought up until today. Was HC at Amsterdam until NFL Europe folded. Still prefer Pflugrad among those whose names have been released. Would like to see Hoffner get a break at OC. Wish I could be a fly on the wall in Faison's office tonight.
-
good possibility. have no access to internal postings
-
and actually... not a bad choice imho Amsterdam did finish first in the Euro League one of his years
-
the salary didn't echo, tho, even with incentives
-
yes. agree (i hope). he definitely knows more than a bunch of fan board rubes. except the OC and DC oxbow and Darell, of course
-
that may be true, but was Craig Bohl a sexy pick? runner-up to Terry Allen... ?
-
to throw a wrench into the process, there is not a job posting for the volleyball coaching position yet. only the football coach.
-
is Axman really coaching in Serbia?
-
Yeah. Keep trying to concentrate on work. What am I doing on this board during work?
-
For those who want higher level HC experience... This guy has a few years under his belt. Shawn O, did he apply?
