  1. Wouldn't Sodbusters be a better fit for the College of Agriculture and Home Economics?
  2. Doesn't it seem strange that the nickname "Fighting Sioux" is disparaging and leads the Native Americans to feel used and objectified, but the nickname "Rough Riders" honors bravery and courage?!?! Sounds like a confused argument to me. That said, Rough Riders would be infinitely better than some of the ones Kelly's group will likely come up with - Flames, Blizzard, even Spirit (though that would be a small gesture to the Spirit Lake tribe that finally came to the table in support of the Sioux name) etc... Rough Riders would probably be second to the continuation of the Sioux name.
  3. And the women's teams would become the "Thunder Thighs". Fail.
  4. Gotta like that, MM.
  5. (Oregon State) Beavers host the (USC) Trojans all the time.
  6. Rough Riders would be infinitely better than the PC-driven weather phenomena/soccer name that the kelly group will more than likely come up with. (Read Flames/Spirit/Blizzard, etc)
  7. T J Oshie sporting the Sioux logo at the American Century Golf tournament at Tahoe. edit ... 4 putt from 6 feet on 16!
  8. While this may be accurate based on past performance (under Mussman), hopefully, predictions based on past performance will reflect greater potential next year (after a season under Schweigert).
  9. Interesting how Fullerton lists Montana, Montana State and North Dakota in the Statesman article. Reminds me of the "significant members" Sioux Volley brought up after getting the Sun Belt / Big Sky conference affiliation information from Idaho months ago. Fullerton specifically names the same schools that are listed as significant members and the key schools that Idaho views as it's peer institutions. (Just have to quote BD's post here)
  10. This is too good not to pass along. Unfortunately, it's also true--especially the last line!
  11. Sounds like almostheavenin2011/watchmaker to me.
  12. No. And, I think Dave Anderson went to NDSU.
  13. That's harder than you make it sound.
  14. Thank you again, MACtion +1 Hayduke.
  15. Thanks, MACtion, for a clear perspective from an established FBS viewpoint. Well stated and clearly presented. From your perspective, do you think UND's new relationship with Miami (and Western Michigan) in the NCHC could lead to some crossover in future out of conference football and basketball scheduling?
  16. I got nothin'. UND/Faison did pretty darn well putting together the NCHC with Denver, Miami and the rest after Goldie and Bucky went to the B1G.
  17. You go get 'em Bulk Truck. If you can see a way to get UND an affiliate hockey membership in the B1G hockey conference, this board would cheer your efforts. (btw, the B1G already has 6 hockey members, they had to add one to get to 6 members for lax)
  18. I am looking forward to hearing how you think UND can get a hockey-only invitation to the B1G, or even better, how Kelley could have prevented the B1G from forming a hockey conference. Or perhaps you think UND can gain full membership in the B1G? You are as delusional as LakesBison, or maybe you are Lakes!
  19. The blame for that is on Barry Alvarez, not Kelly or Faison.
  20. He already fixed it!?!?
  21. Just confirmation that NDSU would still prefer to be in the Big Sky, despite all their protestations to the contrary.
  22. Thank you, Mr Schlossman. It is good to hear the story behind the story. Will be interesting to see how the Bison faithful spin it now.
  23. Having a little reading comprehension trouble tonight, Johnboy? So you are saying that the Bison, if they finish 3rd in the MVFC, would be seeded higher than the Sioux if UND finished 2nd in the Big Sky. Or are you saying that neither team would be seeded since they didn't win their respective conferences? Both E Washington and Montana were seeded last year, so if UND finishes 2nd in the conference this hypothetical scenario can happen. Unless, of course you contend that the Bison would be seeded higher following a third place finish in their conference to UND's second place conference finish in their conference. I would disagree with that. I am at least giving NDSU credit that they will make the playoffs if they finish 3rd, SDSU didn't. And if it did happen, I still think Taylor would be very uncomfortable after not taking advantage of UND's down years and UND getting the first game of the series in D-I at the Alerus. The bottom line is still that Taylor has let the most advantageous years go by. UND will become more competitive before the series resumes and NDSU won't continue to win FCS championships until the end of time. When it happens and if it's in the playoffs, Taylor does not necessarily have the final say at that time.
  24. Ok, kingranch doesn't think so. Whether or not Taylor gets fired, this could happen.
