    FCS Playoffs

    #buttappendectomy?
  2. You idiots still think I'm an NDSU guy huh?
  3. Both schools do recruit the same areas, so there is room for reasonable commentary. If you went over to bville, you could probably find some UND folks posting in their recruitment threads. If you look back at the last page, it was siouxfan97 that took an unneeded shot at NDSU that had nothing to do with the matter at hand.
  4. the difference is that most of these schools are established, national powers in both sports, who's fans want to be successful in multiple sports. The student body as a whole could care less about sports that aren't hockey, and a large part of the alumni block, probably a solid majority, are in the same camp. I'm of the opinion that going to a sporting event for another sport is probably of little value recruitment wise, and only in the sense that its better than sitting alone in a hotel room. Don't get pissy at me because you used an awful example. Think, then post. Since you really want to bring this up, there is alot of difference between having 4 days warning and 4 months warning, especially over a holiday break. Also, I think we set our lowest all-time attendance at the alerus during a thanksgiving weekend playoff game about 5 years ago, so don't throw bricks in that glass house.
  5. really done wonders for kentucky's football program.
  6. both basketball and football payrolls are pretty low for d1. Not sure about some of the other sports.
  7. going 10-1 4 of the last 7 years sounds like a run of luck to me too. In all the blather about mollberg over the last year+ this is something I have never heard.
  8. being in denial must be nice. your right, assault and vandalism is much worse than writing a name on a piece of paper.
  9. grand forks is pretty well known for athletes being able to get away with petty crime. It was only a couple years ago football players were running around university ave kicking in fraternity doors and starting fights. No charges ever were filled and the UPD refused to even investigate after multiple events.
  10. same here
  11. four teams in the big sky don't have a d1 win. At least one team's only d1 win was in conference.

the marshall 1996 bit was slightly tongue in check, but you have to admit that if everything gelled, you could have a pretty monstrous team. Certainly one that would have a shot at Marshall.
  13. was this the same guy that was committed to hawaii at one point? I know NUI has been on a roll lately, but I always thought it was strange that an instate prospect was going to the MAC. I'm guessing this guy is going to expect a ride, and I doubt ndsu can give him one. I can't imagine they have more than two or three left scholarships left, and I think linebackers are their spot of greatest need. Odds are he end up here. edit: yep that guy

I think if you took NDSU's D with some UND gap fill, and some sort of melded offensive roster (anyone who wouldn't want ojuri, crocket, vraa, bruhn, and some of those starting linemen, is an idiot), you would have one beastly team. 1996 Marshall could suck it.

by chance, I watched the game tonight with a trio of former UND players. Their response, was interesting to say the least. NDSU is going to lose the title game by at least 20. That team is a train wreck, not anywhere near championship material. I'm not going to waste my time or money going to the title game.

on the other hand, ISU put 38 on asu and 35 on ewu. In conference, they scored 23, 24, 0, 35, 28, 17, 33, 17, 20. ewu gave up 26, 26, 17 (UND), 24, 28, 30, 17, 28, and 34. ISU scored a season high against ewu; more points than any big sky team managed to put up. Of course EWU also put up more points than any MVFC team on ISU, and matched EIU for a season high. ISU also put up the second most points scored on ASU. This from a team that finished 5th in scoring in mvfc play, despite missing the conferences #2 defense. As a whole, based on this limited sample, I think there is quite a bit more to the quality of valley defenses than playing poor offenses.
  18. better record against better competition? seems to be very obvious, not sure how you can even contest that one.

attendance is counted differently for the playoffs. staff and the band, among others, do not count toward the ncaa totals. they also have entire threads dedicated so how awful he is. He has certainly regressed from last year, and the lack of Veldman is huge.
  20. we'll see in a couple days. Last year NDSU certainly had the better season despite losing a close game to UND, and have looked better than UND thus far this year.
  21. nope, western illinois. I however continue to be amazed by the pettiness around here. I mean, people do know that the only schools referred to by the city they are in are the schools that are named after the city they are in, right?
  22. toss western in as a longshot they lost to OSU by 46, seton Hall by 39, albany is a comparable (probably inferior, actually) team to sdsu or ndsu (lost by 3), and western illinois is nothing special(lost by 5). Aside from OSU, all these games were either at home or neutral site. Sagarin currently has them pegged at 301 of 347, better only than omaha out of the combined summit and big sky teams. A supposed contender in the big sky should pump these guys tonight, granted anything is possible.
  23. yes, UM Kansas City UN Omaha and IP Fort Wayne are the ones that actually go by the cities they are named for. as far as i can tell KC is having a down year.
  24. i remember him not looking terrible at the NDSU/UM game. He would certainly be worth some thought.

how innocent and naive you might notice that the difference is that NDSU actually won.
