Blizzard strikes Northern Red River Valley

I'm saying that I expected NDSU to beat both those teams like a drum. NDSU is a bad matchup for MSU based on line play alone.
-
re: msu, i don't think this game would have been any more competitive than the dsu game will be. I was really surprised to see the buyout so low, and I'm guessing NDSU won't be signing any similarly small buyouts in the future. Welp, ndsu lost a $100k minimium and a marque opponent to bad contracting. Enjoy edit: i think more recent buyouts have been higher, I want to say that wcu would have to fork up around 200k to cancel their visit to the dome.

if you use the phrase 'lipstick on a pig' you should automatically lose any argument. Anyway, the plans for the BSA look pretty nice, it's not like they are just slapping new bleachers in there. The ralph is a good point, but it's availability will always be limited, and will never be able to support BB full time should it arise to that. As far as the fandom goes, i am; just disappointed and disgruntled with the current trajectory of both the athletics department and the school as a whole. Maybe I'm just being a permanent Cassandra, but I don't think so. the summit league and big sky are basically the same thing, both bottom feeder leagues for schools with no better options (except montana, who evidently likes to be the king of the island of misfit toys); the difference is that eventually some summit teams get to move up in the world. I would prefer the summit league, because I don't really care about any of the bigsky programs, outside of the montanas and maybe ewu, and i like convenient roadtrips. I believe its darell that keeps proposing something similar to this, but taking the schools near UM (ewu/UI/UM/msu) and the old NCC core (und, ndsu, sdsu, usd, maybe uno or w ill) and unc, denver, and weber, and you have a pretty solid conference with lots of roadtrips for each block and a much higher level of competition.

NDSU will have a new arena soon, and it will be possibly nicer and will be twice as large as ours, so your really grasping at straws. What matters is how they staff and how they support they actual teams, and I know you saw the salary discussions over the last week or so here.

lets not toss stones from our glass house here. NDSU does a better job of funding it's side sports than we do (and both need to do better) on the baseball front i'm still baffled that neither UND of UNC were invited for an affiliate membership. Douple keeps blowing opportunities to stabilize the conference, and its getting pretty annoying. Aside from the schadenfreude, which many here enjoy, i think most can acknowledge that UND and UNC would both be better off in the summit for baseball than whatever is left of the wac. It doesn't take much of an imagination to come up with scenarios where a summit collapse hurts UND via realignment. edit: holymotheroftypos

My post had noting to do with the big10 or fcs, but with teams who want to move up not being allowed. Feel free to try again.
-
any attempt to lock out schools or conferences again would be met with swift anti-trust action. As it is, teams wanting to move up would have a solid case in court if they wanted/needed to. Anyway alverez, like the saban and bensen also quote in this thread, was talking out his ass.

air force wouldn't leave the MWC for the MVC. wyoming and csu are nearby, and the MWC is as strong or stronger. ORU is the most obvious fit for the MVC, and with c-usa imploding, i think they could make a run for tulsa or memphis (both former MVC schools), or even valpo

bohl gets a 3% cut of all ticket sales, in addition to somewhere a little north of 200k base, plus incentives and media deals (most recently reported as 60k/year. Bohl made around 400k last year (200k + 60 media + 100k tickets + 50k incentives/bonuses). I want to say Farley at UNI was over 400k as well, but that is really stretching the memory.
-
the summit is by any measure a stronger and more competitive league than it was a decade ago. Next year they swap a bottom feeder (UMKC) for a top-100 program (denver). I do find it concerning though from a leadership perspective that two programs have left in the last year for inferior leagues in the wac and southland, although oral roberts move makes sense in that it greatly improved its postseason access and its travel budget.
-
my knowledge was certainly outdated, however it remains that UND does not pay or hire like the program that we expect it to be. Can you honestly see the AD paying a new d-coordinator 100k+ to pull him out of NDSU, as in the stanard example (who i think would be a solid hire). don't let the lack of an fbs game fool you, next year's schedule is brutal. 2013 could be a much better team with little improvement record wise. I'm about as far from pro-mussman as it gets, but i think if UND winds up 6-5, mussman will have earned another year.
-
mussman is only making ~90 iirc. Thats not much more than a run of the mill assistant at a school that actually funds it's coaching staff at a reasonable level. I really love that i'm always the bad guy, even when i'm criticizing the lack of support given to the football (and BB) teams. I guess i should just except mediocrity like you do, because thats the sign of a real fan.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if stanard is currently earning more than mussman.
-
are we willing to pay anyone? Last i checked our head coach hardly earns a competitive assistants wage.
-
i can second the soccer drain, when i was at fargo south i would say that soccer considerably outcompeted football for the best athletes.
-
i think UND is too good for the sky too, if it makes you feel better. because they were already in a competitive conference with their traditional rivals in convenient travel distance?
-
the summit will most likely be around next year. even if it's not, NDSU will have several good places to look before needing to slum it with UND in the bigsky.
-
what a colossal idiot. If anything, we should be upping fees to put the brakes on the boom a little.
-
which is the same as fargo to missoula
-
the furthest team in the mac is about as close as the closest team in the sky. I think everyone can admit it would be far from ideal, but at least it would be a competitive conference that supports afaik all the core sports hosted by NDSU.
-
honestly this is a pretty bizarre move on UMKC's part. Much tougher travel, less competitive, afaik no autobid, non-peer competition... anyway, i think the summit survives, but if not, i think NDSU looks to the MAC.
-
you don't come across as bitter or petty at all.
-
Illinois had a much stronger class this year than normal (and MN weaker) so part of this is likely temporary.

I recommend you try the cay's fries
