to be specific, i was told that slightly more that 800 tickets had been claimed, out of 1904, leaving ~1100 remaining. no NYsioux, it appears that someone was full of it when they made their post. 5-600 tickets yesterday is pretty consistent with the last few weeks, and my numbers come from a buddy in the athletics office. Someone was wrong and it sure as !@#$ wasn't me.

several good candidates leading big turnarounds. kevin higgins (the cit), eric wolfrod (ysu), brock spack (ISU-r), ron ambrose (towson) stiegelmeier, and even our own coach (who should have been fired 3 years ago) should get some consideration if they can notch a marque win or two.

I don't know why people keep giving the putting winning first at NDSU line. If putting winning first was the issue, they would have sat for pvam, rather than potentially for a major game against UNI, YSU, SDSU, or either ISU, or for that matter, the playoffs. Moreover, only 2 are currently starters, and only Marcus Williams would be a noticeable hit. Ojuri has a history of minor infractions, mostly about window tint, and i believe one suspended licence charge. I feel his case warranted a suspension.

Not a hockey fan. I'm more football and BB. Granted a level of disgust over the 2008-2011 period had made me notably pessimistic toward football in particular, but winning cures most things. Also I'm young enough where it is not a contradiction to be a fan of both UND and NDSU football, something that most 'older' people, particularly older UND fans in my experience, cant wrap their head around.

lots of other leagues have been doing this for a while. The mac calls suny-buffalo just buffalo, uwgb goes by greenbay, utc goes by chattanooga. I think it's funny that people in the big sky think that being in a bottom half basketball league that they are stuck in is a good thing. Aside from UM and weber state, noone in that league has a shot of going anywhere else, and are so lightly regarded that boise and sdsu never even considered putting their olympic sports there, and Idaho only did because noone else wanted them. At least summit teams have the opportunity periodically to move up. !@#$ the big-east is only a way-station league, would UND stick up it's nose at the big east as well? I mean who cares about RPI anyway? the best thing is that if UND would join the summit, you suddenly have a stable 7 team core, mostly on the I-29 corridor, composed of 5 similar state schools, plus uno and wiu. Add the indiana schools and you've got basically everything needed to be a solid league.

somehow i think attendance might be a little different for the #2/3 team in the country versus emergency-scheduled-non-conference-cream-puff-who-got-whooped-by-the-third-string

I get nothing but !@#$ here anyways. I miss the atmosphere of the old ralph. The new one, honestly bored me away from fandom. I mean nice facility and all, but having nice seats doesn't make a good atmosphere or a good place to watch a game. If you want to sit down and watch a sporting event in a cushioned chair, do it in your living room. Note that I haven't been to the REA since the 2009-2010 season, haven't had season tickets since 05-06 (i had season tickets or access to season tickets from 2002-2006), and I really have no interest in ever going back. I don't even like hockey anymore, after being a pretty big fan in high school and my first two years at UND.

the home schedule seem alot more difficult that it did preseason. NAU, cal poly, and maybe even montana should be tough games. Sac state showed that UND can be stopped, even if they couldn't do it all game, i think teams will get better at defending against us as the tape builds up and teams see more of what works. The radical shift in our offensive capability probably kept teams a little off guard and gave an edge to start the year. Borderline playoff team at this point IMO. If the breaks line up the right way, it's certainly possible to be playing over thanksgiving.

sorry, I lumped my reply to you with a reply to someone else, then forgot the quote. and that if that team is 1-3 and looks like a better team than say, everyone ranked 12th and below, shouldn't you ranked them above those teams? UNI is a better team than most of the top 25, and as such they should be ranked like it. If a team is ranked 9th preseason, is expected to lose a couple games off the bat, and does so, why would you drop them when they did exactly (or in this case, better) than you expected? You can't be logically consistent and punish a team for performing exactly as expected, unless you decide that rankings should have no predictive capacity. Who is better than who? the argument from those opposed to a high ranking for UNI would be 'who gives a !@#$?' UNI will start 1-4 and will be a top10 team, even if some people can't wrap their heads around it.

several good bigsky teams are going to be sitting home. lots of teams need to go 8-3 thanks to sub-d1 wins, and not all of them will.

pretty surprised UND didn't enter the top 25 this week. i don't expect UNI to drop much after losing to NDSU. If they lose to SIU they will not be ranked, or receive votes. UNI is getting a lot of leeway to lose games that they should lose and were expected to lose, because they were supposed to lose those games. UNI has done exactly what was expected of a top10 team facing their schedule. On the other hand UND had gotten thrashed by idaho, won ugly against drake, and lost to a fresno state team that was so bad last year their renowned, likely future hall-of-famer coach got canned. Not exactly parallel scenarios.

maybe you should reread that post, because I did say 6 teams should be ranked. Not sure how that can be interpreted as big sky bashing. Selective reading at its best right there. Perhaps I can rephrase for the whiners: the big sky has a big muddle of pretty decent teams, but only ewu looks like a contender. aka a giant muddle of mediocrity. The MVFC is the best conference top to bottom, but the big sky is likely #2.
