The Eagles resigned Bradford to a 2 year deal before they knew they would be in a position to trade up for Wentz. If he has a good year they can recoup some of what they used to trade up for him, but I'm sure if Bradford & the Eagles struggle, he'll be given an opportunity this year to show what he's got.

I don't understand how having no nickname is even a debate when the agreement we signed with the NCAA explicitly says that if we don't pick a new name we will return to the list of sanctioned schools.

Anybody ever consider Chicago? Personally I wouldn't mind making a weekend trip there, could host it at the United Center. Might lose out on some Minneapolis alum attendance wise but there's a good amount in Chicago too. Wouldn't mind having it at the Xcel when the contract is up but if that turns out to not be an option I would definitely prefer having it at the United Center to the Target Center.

I was confused when I saw those tweets. Norberg's twitter lists himself as a linebacker, and Butler played linebacker all last year did he not? I can't really imagine they would move him from safety to linebacker just to move him back to safety the next year, Norberg I could potentially see playing either position though. Thoughts?

Reyes Butler and Ratelle ran the fastest 40 times this year according to Baukal's Twitter. Looks like we've got some fast linebackers. That'll stick it to them, and it worked so well for us the first time right? http://www.ag.nd.gov/ncaa/SettlementAgreement.pdf Page 5 section 2d "If UND does not adopt a new nickname and logo, or if the transition to a new nickname and logo is not completed prior to August 15, 2011, then UND will be returned to the list of institutions subject to the policy." We got an extension on that date obviously, but the settlement clearly says that we have to pick a new nickname, like it or not. Nobody is going to force you to like the new nickname or the fact that we're getting one, and I think the majority of us will always refer to them as the Fighting Sioux, but a new nickname is going to be picked.

Jones needs to be fired, if not this week then at the end of the season. He is a mediocre coach with a below .500 overall record here, he is not someone that I trust to take UND to NCAA tournament, which should be one of the main goals of this program at this point. We were 5-9 non-conference last year, 4-9 the year before that. That was with our vaunted senior class that we lost this year, and that was the best we could manage? Our biggest win the past three years was over NDSU last year, and the other two times we played them we got the crap kicked out of us. The fact of the matter is that we have been getting run out of the gym on a regular basis by teams that we should at least be competitive with (see: NDSU, Texas Pan-am), at some point it falls back on the coach. I do not trust Jones's recruiting ability for that matter either. This past season we brought in 4 transfers and only 3 true freshman. It really says something when you don't have enough built up depth to not have to rely on transfers to play a large role because usually they are not very good. I do not care how it is done, but Jones needs to be out of here and we need to get some fresh blood in the program ala - Schweigart this year. This program is in a very poor state right now and I do not see us improving very much before season's end

gfhockey, None of us are happy with the defense so far this year, but we're beating Montana there is no reason to be b******* right now, I think we are all sick of it. Everyone knows the defense has been atrocious this year and there is no excuse for having played this bad, but we aren't eligible for the playoffs anymore this year so I think the best thing to do is give Mannasau the rest of the year to try to figure this out. If he can't and we keep giving up 30+ points and 400-500+ yards routinely then we will definitely need to bring in someone with experience from outside the organization. For now we just need to enjoy the fact that the offense is light years ahead of what we have seen in a very long time, and even with this terrible defense we are a middle of the pack Big Sky team. If our offense doesn't revert back to 2011 form and if we can get our defense figured out for next year we will be one of the top teams in the Sky and have a legit shot of going far in the playoffs.
