I've had season tickets for the last 5 years so I never see that series on tv. I think CBS did a better job than FSN, just my opinion.

I could get used to watching UND play hockey on tv with that quality production, CBS did a great job! I can hardly wait to see what a facility and environment like the Ralph looks like in HD!

I wonder how many nickname crusaders will still support UND once our athletic programs have been reverted back to D2? My guess is that they will jump ship and start hanging out over at Bisonville, assuming that they aren't already.

Once upon a time we shared the Blackhawks logo, the latest sioux logo by Brien is without a doubt unique. We do however still share the interlocking ND with the Irish. Now back to Bisonville with you!

The Big Ten will never shoot us an invite. We don't have the academic reputation, the endowmnet, the facilities, or a viable media market. We missed the boat a long time ago thanks to the frugile, think small mentatility of the people of the state. We will be lucky to be in the Big Sky this time next year, assuming they don'y boot us out before then.

For now it would be fine, they need to hire a firm to create a new logo. Then I would have absolutely no problems with whatever we were called (to an extent).

The interlocking ND is garbage, I wouldn't care what we were called as long as we didn't have to share our logo with Notre Dame or anybody else.

Interesting quote by Fullerton: “Our concern, as before, is not that they are the Fighting Sioux,” Fullerton said, “but rather whether they can be an effective Division I program and a benefit to our conference.” I'm not in favor of what the petitioners did, If I was I would have signed the petition as I had numerous opportunities too. I'm just not sure how a UND losing the opportunity to host one maybe two football games would sway them to want to kick us out? How would that impact our ability to be an effective D1 program. If they were going to kick us out it would be because they would rather have 12 teams instead of 13. IMHO

Can they kick UND out? Has anybody seen or have solid information about the membership agreement UND has with the Big Sky? Is it in their by laws to be able to dismiss a member school for something like this? I honestly don't know, surely it would have been discussed when membership was extended to UND.

From what I understand the Ralph cannot accomodate seating expansion. is this plan mainly for training facilities?

UMD and St. Cloud might be less resistant. I bet Denver and UNO wouldn't mind getting their foot in that recruiting ground. I hate the thought of the UND and the NCHC playing second banana behind Minn and the Big 10 for the Xcel.

What about the MTS Centre in Winnipeg? We could definitely fill it up (almost like a home game for us), plus it would be a great recruitment tool, could even boost our fanbase. I see traveling across the border being a pain but other than that it would be a great experience.

I know several members in the band and they absolutely hate the jerseys as well. I realize they only had a couple of days but whoever designed them could have done a much better job than that. I think the band does a great job representing our school and they genuinely have a great time doing it!

PLaying money games for $800,000 is huge for smaller athletic programs like NDSU and UND. At this point I would take as many money games as possible and throw it towards facilities and coaching.

Can we not broadcast games on FCS that the other two networks are uninterested in broadcasting?

I agree, every bullet point is factual. I find it interesting that they inform students that this petitioner has been reportedly harassing students and that anyone who has been harassed should file a report. This could suggest that students should stay away from petitioners out of fear of being harassed. Now, if it were to also to encourage reporting anyone harassing a petitioner I would have less quarrel with it.

Looks like Minnesota has lost it's sense of tradition. Not to mention the loss of revenue and public interest from that series, no class at the UM.

They did say a "minimum" of 18 games, if the ratings are decent they may opt to pick up more. I would think they would want UND, Denver, and Miami games more than any of the other teams.

Although I'm in favor of dropping the name for greener pastures I can't help but feel this email is trying to persuade students what to think and to take action against petitioners. What do you think? A message fromUND STUDENT GOVERNMENT Hello UND Students, As many of you are aware, there has been a petitioner on our campus for the past few weeks trying to gain signatures for two different statewide initiatives. In light of all of this activity, Student Government saw a “teachable moment” and wanted to offer a few pieces of information for our student body, as you are considering your actions. Please take a few moments to read the following. The two initiatives: The first initiative is a referendum that would repeal the North Dakota Legislature’s decision that allowed UND to transition from the use of the Fighting Sioux Logo and Nickname. In essence, it will reinstate the law passed last spring, saying that the University of North Dakota will continue to use the Fighting Sioux Logo and Nickname. It will repeal the repeal of that law that occurred in November. If 13,452 signatures are obtained, this will be taken to vote in the June primary elections, unless a special election is called by Governor Dalrymple. The second is an initiated measure for a proposed amendment to the North Dakota Constitution. This amendment will only state “The University of North Dakota and its intercollegiate athletic teams shall be known as the Fighting Sioux.” This measure requires 26,904 signatures and would be brought for a vote in the November elections. Information about the petition and referendum process in North Dakota: Valid signatures to sign a petition: In order to be counted as a valid signature, the person signing the petition must be a valid voter in North Dakota. This means that they are a U.S. Citizen, a legal resident of the state, 18 years or older and have lived in their residence for longer than 30 days. Initiative #1- Filing a referendum: In North Dakota, citizens are able to recall a law that was passed by the Legislature. A vote passed by the citizens in November, 1978 requires that such a recall, called a Referendum, must contain the signatures of at least 2% of the total population of the state, as counted by the last Federal Census. As of 2010, the state’s population was 672,591, meaning that 13,452 valid signatures are required. Initiative #2- Amending the Constitution: Much like calling a referendum of a law, and initiative measure is the same process, and can amend a part of the constitution. However, the biggest change is that 4% of the total population of the state is required, putting that number at 26,904 signatures. What it means to sign a petition: By signing a petition you assert that you are a qualified elector, or simply put, that you meet the criteria for being counted as a valid signature. By signing the referendum petition, you are saying that you want a certain law to be put up to a vote of the citizens of the state.
